Who needs interviewers, when you can just tell the stories yourself. Brilliant!
Agree. Still lovin every song!
I agree. Many times they just wont let them talk.
John can tell stories till the cows come home and even later
I agree 100%. It’s a bummer when an interviewer only has a marginal knowledge of the person he or she is interviewing. Happens all too much. John Fogerty is the real deal, a genuine folk hero, these songs became classics the day they were written, I’d say!
@themidnightchoir True, but a mediocre interviewer can have the opposite effect, and a really good storyteller doesn't necessarily need one to get his stories out.
One of the greatest singer / songwriters of all time. Thank you John. ❤
Facts
I totally agree. Utter genius.
Absolutely!! 100%..!
You need to STOP DYEING your hair John. It only makes you look much older than you are.
Amen to that, Darren!!
Being almost 80 and still this talented and sharp is amazing.
His memory is razor sharp-better than mine, and I'm barely 60.
Bro what he's 80. He dosent look a day over 60
@@GGGaming-mn6yq He will be 80 next May.
@@GGGaming-mn6yqman I'd trade John Fogartey's "80" for my current 68 in a heartbeat 💓 😅
made my day to see John Fogerty doing so well. Very special guy, Bought my girlfriend the album Green River in 1969 for christmas! She was a shapely little platinum blond.
I’m fifty. When I was in college, a cute guy, who is now my husband, gave me a CCR cd. I lived at home during college. I put bad moon rising on my stereo, and my dad came bopping down the hall and said, “Turn that one up!”
That's a good memory.
7:51 yeah that's what time it is. John has a face that makes you just want to slap it. I love how he belts his songs out like a goat
I'm 80 and started listening to CCR since the beginning.. '69..got my 4 kids singing and playing ..I had every LP ..my favorite was /is Pendelum !!!
Love you John !
awwww cute! thanks for sharing!
Go girl
The world needs more John Fogerty
John Fogerty is the human Cowbell.
Real Artists no longer exist. Especially in the mainstream.
Pretty sure the mold was broken when he was born. One of a kind.
7:51 yeah that's what time it is. John has a face that makes you just want to slap it. I love how he belts his songs out like a goat
The very first video I ever produced in my CSUF film production class was highlights of Fresno State baseball games set to a Fogerty song called Centerfield. A young lady whose name I cannot remember helped me film all of the scenes over the course of two nights. I wish I could remember her name. It was one of the best things I ever put together.
John’s voice is a backwoods howl. Love it. John is the reason why you should love the 1960s. Pure spirit.
oh those days
He's from the big city of SF
@@vids595 Yup. What’s your point?
@@jaypooler9765 Man, I miss them too!
I am always mesmerized by his vocal perf when I hear this band. He put his voice out like there is no tomorow I love it. That's how most songs should be done. Put in your heart and soul.
They don't make them like that any more!
What a treasure of a man.
They can, but won't, because like everything today, the powers that be want to dumb down everyone. They did that by pushing all the crap that's on the radio nowadays.
He spells his last name wrong ffs 🙄
7:51 yeah that's what time it is. John has a face that makes you just want to slap it. I love how he belts his songs out like a goat
John Fogerty: a living legend. I've been a great fan for 53 years!
According to Bill Wyman in the last year of Brian Jones’ life he was seriously into CCR. And he was said to play Proud Mary on his turntable numerous times a day. I can see Brian in that American flag shirt walking around his Cotswold garden grooving on it. Sad soul. So self destructive. Cheers from Montreal
Me too!
Me too!
John! Great story, thank you for sharing!
This is Ken, the guy who played drums for you in Troy, Oregon, in 1987. I was just a beginner, and you were very kind to me. What a great memory!
Ironically I was born in 1987 and am from Oregon, but I’m not sure where Troy is.. where is Troy Oregon??
@@kylesalmon31 Troy is 5 miles from Washington, and 18 miles from Idaho, way up in the NE corner of the state. John owned property there.
@@kenpearl6693middle of nowhere pretty much
@@kylesalmon31That’s not irony.

Listen to him singing heard it through the grapevine.
Brilliant
PLEASE MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS.
As a hardcore fan I already knew the story. John himself has told it before on interviews but watching him talk about it in video and showing the actual gear is priceless.
Hi there! I’m also a hardcore fan just like you ✌🏻✌🏻hehe.
It’s a pleasure watching abd hearing those stories, told in 1st person 😎
Yes, yes! More, more!
YES
How awesome to see a genius at work.
His mind is a steel trap, amazing.
Mine too! I'm 72 and it's great to see a former Beatle talk about the old days.
I love these “chronicles” from guys that “rode the lightning and wrote the history!”
Just wanted to make the happy report that my kids, ages 11 and 16, are just now discovering Credence. From the looks on there faces when it comes on the car stereo, from my listening to them hum the tunes on their own -- well, it's just more evidence that John's music transcends generations. Keep up the good work, Mr. Fogerty! You have a gift!
Good job teaching them.
if you cant hum it , it aint music !
Thanks for a lifetime of pleasure John.
As fate would have it. The guitar was black and the moon comes out at night. What a great song!
Moon comes out during the day, too...
John Fogerty, the only musician that stills rocks in a plaid flannel shirt. Ya gotta love it. Thanks for all the great music, my friend.
Uncle Ted can rock the plaid flannel too!
@@odom2142 Love Uncle Ted since the early 70's, but I don't believe I ever saw him wear a plaid flannel on stage. I may be wrong.
He beat the grunge players to it.
Umm Neil young!
@@Lounge-lizard You beat me to it. Neil was Grunge 15 years before Grunge was a gleam, er, you know what I mean. I'm talking more about the heavily distorted heavy metal sludge guitar and accompanying music than the grungy attire. Even when he'd do a love song (Like a Hurricane!), rather than being soft, smooth and sedate it screamed protogrunge.
I’m 66 years old and I feel like I grew up with you. Definitely grew up with your music and still listening. You’re a great person man. Thank you for hard work.
Just turn 67.
His music kept me sane growing up.
And my parents insane, GRTS.
@@Confessor555 GRTS ? what does that stand for ? I wasn't born with that knowledge..
@@tommytomtom5531
I wondered too.
Shame it didn't last, hey? 😂😂
@@tommytomtom5531 it's an inability to spell correctly that makes them just use letters. Believe me, they can't spell.
Thank you John . I enjoy listening to cool stories. You and CCR have been a part of my life since I was a kid and I’m 71 now. You never seemed to have let your success go to your head . You’re a humble normal guy . I have multi-millionaire friends that are just humble down to earth people. It’s a pleasure for me to know them and be able to be their friend. You John remind me of what I have in my life and it makes me a better person and it keeps you being a real guy . Thank you for all the good music . I wish I could have met all of you in my life , Tom , Doug and Stuart. I wish you all the best and I know Tom is proud of you .
You are my Rock-n-Roll Hero 🎸. God Bless John Fogerty and Family ✝️🙏🕊️
This man just oozes talent even when he isn’t trying. A true legend
Total legend. You can’t even imagine the catalogue of American rock and roll music without this song.
Great storyteller!!
I am 75 and when I was in nursing school, Proud Mary was “ our song”. 54 years later we play it and dance at our reunions. Bless your heart John and CCR.
Proud Mary was a staple at all the wedding receptions back then. Any band that played rock n roll had to know it.
@@riverraisin1 Elvis himselvis played it live at almost every early 70's era concert!
Thank you, sir from an old-timer. (1943)
same here, Nov 28
Absolute legend.
ROCK ON JOHN !!!!!!!!!
Surely one of the greatest rock singers of all time and great writer as well, just love CCR , my personal love is Up Around The Bend just can't get enough of listening to it ,the great opening and it gets better as it gets going, so that you John Foggerty massive fan from the UK 🇬🇧🇺🇲 just love your music, much appreciated and respect 🇺🇲🇬🇧
One of my repeat favorites always seems to be "Tomorrow Never Comes." So poignant a hymn.
I grew up Listen to him.
Will never forget. Thanks mr Fogerty.
We were at my wife's cousins wedding a few years ago and at the reception, they were playing this modern trash music (boring) and all the sudden the Dj put on some CCR starting with Bad Moon Rising and buddy the feet went to shuffling around on everybody after hearing that famous guitar lick. My wife's 85 year old uncle , slapped his hands together and said ,"it's about time they played something good" , he jumped up and grabbed a young gal and tore the dance floor up with her , stealing the show , he's gone now but uncle Rodger and CCR stole the show. PS , he was 100% correct when he said it's about time they played something good , great memory i thought I'd share, and i hope John F. and the band members see this and know they had an old man moving like he was 18 again and their music got the party started, awesome story. I'm glad i was there to see it. Thanks for the memory 👍🙏👍.
Who among the non guitarists would know tuning to D would make a difference?
@rgcolvin9011 I wouldn't know one from the other but it sounds good .
It would make the strings looser and notes all two half steps lower. Other than that, you'd still use the same chord shapes. Joni Mitchell, OTOH, used oddball tunings that only make sense on her own songs.
Loved tthis. Very cool.
Makes any bad movie good as well
Jf has still got it. What a legend.
John, every song you’ve ever written is absolute gold. I’ve never heard one that wasn’t a hit.
A true American treasure, thanks for the sounds brother.
It’s impossible to get tired of hearing this band. Here’s to thousands of more listens and a long life to everyone, including John Fogerty!
I once asked (actor and fellow Irishman) Donal Logue what he thought of Fogerty. His reply? The one word that describes the man perfectly... "Genius."
My brother got me hooked on CCR. He played it every morning before school in 1969-70. Still listening in 2024! ☮️❤️
😎✌️
Love it when the artist tells us the story of the songs we love!
I was a child with older siblings in the mid 60s when CCR was doing their thing. Their music was the perfect American soundtrack to those turbulent times. This man is a musical genius, he does not get the credit he deserves. Thank you John Forgety for those memories, you are CCR!
I put a spell on you is another brilliant song I'm 70 now i play it all the time thanks John and CCR for all the great music and memories over the years
Have loved you forever! Appreciate your stories.
John, I'm 71 and have lived in England all my life. When just a callow youth, I heard BMR on the radio and was blown away. Yours was the first ever record that I bought. I mention this fact in my forthcoming autobiographical series of books about Child #38316 (the number I was given in a children's home aged 2.
Thank you and CCR for all the pleasure you have given me down through the years and I still think BMR is one of the best songs ever written. Kind regards, Brian
You’re a legend in the UK …. this 69 year old has been listening and dancing to your music since I was just out of school .
CCR painted a unique image of the USA in the minds of countless millions of people in Europe.
God bless you and the wonderful musicians you have worked with.
I love this. He's like your grandpa telling a story.
much better than leo sayer with his falsetto. . .
John, you’re a bloody treasure mate! Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Grew up with CCR love them 🇦🇺❤️
for me he had the most charismatic voice in all of pop history,..John Fogerty,...
Agree 1,000%
He still has a voice. Even at his age, I would not turn down a chance to see him play and sing. I only say this because you said he "had" a voice.
Fogerty is the KING of texture! You can always tell when he’s on a song!
"Lodi" has two lead guitar parts. Not easy to suss them out.
The soundtrack of my youth...Thank you John
Legend ❤
First band I ever saw live, 1968, Portland Oregon. That was the beginning of a 50 plus year love of not only CCR, but especially John Fogerty. Saw him again 50 years later on the Blues and Bayou tour and he did not disappoint. Loved watching him with his son's.
John...you are a national treasure...thank you for being the soundtrack to my life :).
I couldn’t have said it any better. The same goes for me.
This is gold.
I remember how excited and mesmerized I felt, the first time I heard Proud Mary. Creedence was truly a unique and clasic rock group. As a young teenagers, my sisters and I had a running joke, everytime we heard Bad Moon Rising, it was a premonition that one of us would be “in trouble” with our parents by the end of the day. I still love Bad Moon and the unique sound of Creedence Clearwater Revival to to this day. Thank you John Fogerty.
Been a CCR and John Fogerty fan since grade school in the late ‘60s.
Mr Folgerty … this is my favourite song ever. The lyrics are and will forever remain iconic 😊
Hi John - I'm now aged 70, and have been listening to your music since I was 12. You have given so much to the industry, and so much enjoyment to our lives. Such a great move to communicate to us like this - the history we really love to hear. We were amazed to watch you on stage when you visited Australia - for hours you kept the energy flowing. Such great memories you give. Good on ya mate!
He gave so much to the industry, and the music industry took so much from him. Zantz kannt danz.
@peterclark2872, Yes agreed. I got interested in Creedence in 1969 when I first heard Proud Mary. I remember thinking how unique and good that sound was and I was hoping they would create more music. They did not disappoint. I saw them at Randwick Race Course in 1972 with Sherbet as supporting act. Ticket price was $4.40
I write from Brazil. Here, we are playing ccr classics with friends , and people like, because the hapiness, simplicity, harmony,(=love) that your music transmit . Old man , you are great , we love you.
Love you, John! My sister and I drove back and forth across the country and the best road music we discovered by far was yours!! Thank you for everything!
80s kid here, you rock more than most that I ever heard!
This is amazing, to hear these stories straight from the man himself.
There's a bathroom on the right.
We LOVE you, John. Thank you for all the wonderful music you created.
I came to make the exact same comment! 😂

Love this guy - so Authentic and Amazing guitar player!
Bad Moon Rising was my mother's favorite song. We wore out several copies of that 45 when I was a kid. My mother passed in 2002 and I get teary eyed whenever I hear it. Thank you for the music John. 😁❤️👍
DAMN! love it! as a young poor boy I'd run home after school and listen to radio hoping to catch a CCR song, I picked bottles to make enough to buy a 45 RPM record of Lodi, Bad Moon Rising at a downtown Kresgee's, something like that? Ever since then I always had they're (CCR/John Fogerty) music playing on 45 RPM, a 33.5 Album, 8-track take, cassette tape, CD, and now all my music is on an SD card in my 2022 Ram pick-me-up truck, lol. Never get tired of genius's music, loved the Blue Ridge Rangers too! Keep em coming John and I'll keep on listening...one more thing! It's awesome seeing your children in on the act too! Thanks John, and yes you did! You wrote a song for everyone😉❤🙏✍
Mr Fogerty, you are a genius and your music,is TIMELESS.I enjoey it your music at this particular time i was 23 years old, today at 78 and listen your music ,back to my youth. From EL Salvador.Central America,LOng life to you Mr Fogerty.

So wonderful to hear hos own life story. Thank you!💗
I saw him live in a small venue over 20 years ago and he was amazing! He played a different guitar for every song and he only sat down once to sing his wife a love song! The energy was incredible!

Love from an old Texan. My favorite is actually Up Around the Bend. Just because it always makes me so happy with the intro. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
How good is that hearing how these classics came to be, amazing how things work out. What a great genuine talented person.

Awesome story!!
A living legend who still seems like a completely normal guy. Thanks for all the great music.
Lodi is my favorite CCR song.....
I like quite a few of their songs. I think I listen to "Who'll Stop the Rain" quite a bit. I get on a binge where I listen to all the songs I can think of with a certain word in them ... Brook Benton did "Rainy Night in Georgia," Temptations did "I wish it would Rain,", etc, etc.
The best ever! Greetings from Brazil!
When I was young I thought you were one of the coolest singers I knew. I'm older now, and I still think you're one of the coolest singers I know!
American history right here folks. Thanks John 👍🏻
Very cool story, John. Heartfelt and thank you!
Wow, I've recently been binge-watching CCR videos and interviews and when I saw the Royal Albert Hall video I grabbed my guitar to play along and noticed you were playing in what looked like a different key than Tom. That's when I realized you were tuned down to D and I could hear how that created the cool blend of your guitars for that signature CCR sound. I told my music buddy about it and now I see this video explaining why you did that. Love you John Fogerty! ✌❤🎸
One of the absolute best artists of all time.
Great song for the accoustic ❤❤❤
