Was having a hard time trying to learn guitar (Mainly strumming patterns) and was about ready to quit then I stumbled upon this. I'm not ready to quit.... I want to be sat around a campfire playing this with a big smile on my face 👍
Doing the change overs and striking the correct base string is murder. I don't have a pick which makes striking the string up/down more difficult, but I suppose there's nothing for it but constant practice. I appreciate how you do the talk through for each pattern.
Hi Kevin - wow is that fun! LOL tried to keep up with ya and got caught up in the strings, and my pick went-a-flyin'! LOL You are right this will take time but can't wait to get it down! I love the muted base - adds so much and makes it sound like a Cash song! So I'm gonna go find my pick and this time I'm gonna take your advice and start slow. Thanks for the great lesson!
Bro this video guide helped me out so much especially with the strumming pattern part I stuggled so much to find the correct strumming pattern for this song since I need to play it in class tomorrow.
Thank you so much Mark, for the time and effort. I always listen to you in you tube and downloads purchased. Your voice is as calming as your music. Your vibration is as high as your music regards Alice
I learned this with g cadd9 d it was much easier for me at the beginning when I was just learning the cords so I didn't have to take all of my fingers off kept the bottom to locked in 👍
would be nice to see the tabs at the end of the video when we can practice along with you, so loved it, subscribed and gave thumbs up .......... however the end was rough because i had to back to the beginning and replay it, rather than play along
I'm not sure if you said this, but the second verse is different than the first, right? When he sings "I fell for you like a child" the C chord comes in sooner than it did in the previous verse, and it affects the rhythm of the "horn" riff that comes in after that!
I have a suggestion for a lesson. Teach The Way I Am by Merle Haggard. It's a beautiful, Beautiful song and resonates so much with so many people. Thanks
Total beginner here. Could I use the Cadd9 (4 fingered C) rather than the usual C chord? Makes for an easier transition between the C & G. I was watching Keith Urban and he does this for a few songs. Just curious. Thanks so much for sharing your gifts and talents!
I love your teaching methods, but all your videos have a background noise, it sounds like a generator? Any chance of blocking it out.. keep em coming I like it. From UK Hereford

Going to need a pick for this one. But yes, lots of repetition will get you there.

C9 is very useful here, also for the intro lick in between, you can target the notes on the 4th and 5th string while strumming
Yes!
Bro this video guide helped me out so much especially with the strumming pattern part I stuggled so much to find the correct strumming pattern for this song since I need to play it in class tomorrow.

Noted!
Good instructions
Thank you
Just wonderful really is.
Thanks so much!
What a great song. I like combining strumming with a bare minimum of pickin' to get a great combined sound. I'll learn the pickin' part first.
Great plan!
Thanks you explain very well and understand what struggles we go through learning the guitar Alice from Ausyralis
Happy to help

On the Train strum, what strings are you aiming for on the down & up?
For the muted bass strum - strings 6 and 5 - For the down strum - strings 5,4 an 3 and for the up strum - strings 1,2 and 3
Is there a tab sheet for this
