Those are beautiful work Laurel. I'm starting my alcohol ink journey, started with permanent markers and rubbing alcohol. Thanks for your lovely video 🤗
Thanks for this quick tutorial! I just found interest in inks and thought I’d see what they do! My kind of creations! Quick, fast & easy! I love it. I’d like to see you explore with some resin & talk about what that is!
Laurel, you did a wonderful job of making it look quite easy! Well done, and very informative. I like your gold flake idea....I will have to try that myself!
You had some really beautiful cells going there and then wiped them out. As a beginner, I'd like to have seem more about how to create the "cells" (maybe wrong word) than just moving paint around.
Hello, Laurel! Saw some of your Alcohol Ink pieces in another video showing preps for lots of cardmaking~~~anyway, found this one of yours and LOVE IT! So, so cool! Love the color palette and especially the GOLD FLAKES! NEAT! I also enjoy watching you “create as you go” and your tip to keep going till you like it! And with Alcohol Inks easy to “redo” whenever! :-)). It’s like “liquid erasing” in a way! ALWAYS love having a “way to fix/change” as needed! Another FUN n’ CREATIVE video, Laurel! I haven’t played with Alcohol inks lately so this was another wonderful inspiration for me from you! THANKS OODLES! Have a GREAT day n’ KEEP ON CREATIN’! :-)
Laurel, you definitely aren’t lazy, but impatient is a descriptive way to describe you. Love watching the way you use your canvases to create whatever on any given day. I’m always excited when you post. Take Care. ~Barbara
Hi Laurel 👋 Thank u for sharing a lovely very helpful tutorial 👌 your 2 demonstrations wear so pretty my personal favorite was the one with the gilding flakes on thanks for sharing have a nice week Lin 💞🦋👍🐕
Interesting. I just a few bottles of alcohol inks in a box of different types of inks, and I have no experience with them at all... Figured a few videos first would be a good idea, and this has me fired up to get started! I love that addition of that gold stuff. Really cool. Also - thanks for saying that bit about not having to bit expensive stuff to use with the inks. I was a bit worried at first =)
Hi, this video is perfect. Gives me all the info I need to start. Thank you! Can I just ask, would you still use the Krylon spray if you were going to coat in resin?
It's fun to see different tichniques and styles of different artists. This imspired me to pull out my old ceramic tiles and give this a try! Ive heard anything but Kamar Varnish would reactivate the inks? Myriam's Nature talks about it a little bit on her channel. Do you have that problem? I'm also wondering if the guilding flakes would melt if you took heat to them?
Thank you for sharing. So glad to have found how to use the gold in the ink colors. I want to do the tile. Would the krylon sealant be the only thing I would have to use before use resin?
I love the Brea Reese liquid glitter (I use their watercolor inks as a base to reink my basic dye ink pads). I think liquid glitter is wonderful for insect wings. I have not seen a bottle of rubbing alcohol on a store shelf for four months so I am experimenting with alcohol inks vicariously through you. 😁
im a total beginner--can you tell me after you make the panels--what do you do with them? Are they for hanging or do you use them for something else? I am interested in learning alcohol inks, but wondering if they have additional purposes other than to achieve that tye-dye type of look?
Thank you for this video. I am waiting.on my first ever alcohol inks being delivered. Loved your colours. Going to give the gilding flakes a try. Can you use mica powders and how do you get ink off your hands?
Love your work particularly the one with gold! Could you please give me the details of your heat tool, having trouble locating the right thing here in the UK! Thanks so much!
I use the wow dual heat tool. It has two settings. One for heat embossing (higher setting) and one for drying watercolor prints (not so hot and strong heat so it doesn't push the watercolor around). ldli.co/e/j434y9
They come in sizes as small as 4x4 and are available in about 75 sizes up to 20x24, so there are lots of sizes, but yes you can cut them two different ways. You could use a saw to cut them, or you could use a sturdy box cutting knife, which makes a very clean cut, provided your knife blade stays in the track, but it takes multiple passes with your knife blade. Make sure it is good and sharp and you use a good straight edge. Be patient, and make sure to keep your fingers away from the blade.
Very beautiful just a quick question I have a piece of glass made out of a bottle and I use an alcohol ink and now it didn’t come out so well so I do you know how I can remove the alcohol ink on this bottle and redo it or do I just paint over it and start over the texture is blotchy and dry on this particular one and I think when I made the mistake of us putting alcohol and on the bottom and not letting the alcohol dry before I cleaned it off ty ♥️
Yes, you can mix the two alcohol ink brands. And I do put a sealer on cards as well as my hard panels, but putting on cards is just a habit. I don't believe you need to do that for cards.
My sis and I want to do cards with alcohol inks. Do you have any suggestions/resources? I just stumbled on your channel and subscribed! A.I. has pretty much taken over my life! LOL. I have been using the gold leaf sheets and resin
Yes, you can cut it with a saw or a sturdy box cutting sharp razor knife and a straight edge, but it takes multiple passes with your knife blade. Be patient, and make sure to keep your fingers away from the blade.
I did notice the Brea Reese are not as thick as ranger, but I liked that because it moved around the paper easier... Yes, the bottles do tend to be messy, especially in the lid/tip area...
Simply Cardmaking with Laurel Beard, Exactly! I kept trying to clean up the lids and it was a losing battle! I really enjoy your videos and you are such a talented artist!
The second one is beautiful! Question, what makes you use the matte varnish vs gloss? I always used gloss varnish so it would be shiny because I was afraid the matte would make it dull or flat or something? Please let me know what you prefer! Thanks!
Ha, I am not sure really. I guess I like the matte varnish because the ceramic is already glossy? LOL! Its likely I already had it for sealing paper projects!
Beautiful how lovely of you to share and encourage others xx
My first time watching… Love it!!!
Welcome!!
LOVE alcohol ink backgrounds!!! And, don't you just LOVE that CutterPillar craft mat!!! A friend of mine gave me one as a gift and I LOVE it too!!! 💕
I do. It’s awesome and only $25
Love the gilding flakes. And your giggle is infectious!
Beautiful. Love them both, but the one with the gold flakes is my favorite.

Thanks for the demonstration. So pretty!!

Oh yes, I am going to play with Resin and Mica Powder this week!
Thanks I’m going into resin but I also want to use paper. I purchased what was suggested for alcohol ink. Thanks I learned a lot

Thanks so much for the sweet words Judith.

I’m having an alcohol ink weekend. Now I have to track down what’s left of my gilding!
I have lots of alcohol inks but haven't tried them yet. This looks so awesome and also like tons of fun! Hugs.
Thx for your very clear and simple demonstration… loved it
Beautiful panels! I have never used gilding flakes. They are gorgeous on the panel
They are fun but oh so messy lol
Hi Laurel 👋 Thank u for sharing a lovely very helpful tutorial 👌 your 2 demonstrations wear so pretty my personal favorite was the one with the gilding flakes on thanks for sharing have a nice week Lin 💞🦋👍🐕
Laurel these are really beautiful. Thanks for showing and explaining you techniques!

It’s so easy….
Just did alcohol ink for the first time and it came out beautifully.

Excellent 👌....I'm new to alcohol inks....so I will be subscribing to you and learning more....thank you....Jane Rochfort...North Wales UK 🇬🇧 😀
Thanks for subbing Jane! Welcome!
You make it look so simple! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome alcohol panels! Great technique and looked like fun!😊
oh wow looks amazing. where did you get the golden flakes from please?
Laurel, l love these panels. Thanks for the demo, can’t wait to give it a go.
where to get the panels?
Very informative! Just starting to play with alcohol inks, they are fun. 👍😊
Yay!!! 👏🏽👏🏽 Hi Laurel love your videos on alcohol inks thank you!
Hi, this video is perfect. Gives me all the info I need to start. Thank you! Can I just ask, would you still use the Krylon spray if you were going to coat in resin?
Thanks! Nope, no need to use the Krylon if you are going to coat in resin!
Thanks so much; I'm now inspired to give AI a try!

It's been ages for me as well. The alcohol I have is likely 5+ years old! LOL!
Well done!!! Thank you!
I’m a beginner. This was great.
Yay, glad it was helpful!
im a total beginner--can you tell me after you make the panels--what do you do with them? Are they for hanging or do you use them for something else? I am interested in learning alcohol inks, but wondering if they have additional purposes other than to achieve that tye-dye type of look?
I frame them, put a sentiment on them and turn into cards, etc..... I put alcohol ink on mugs (video on my channel). So much you can do.
Thank you for this video. I am waiting.on my first ever alcohol inks being delivered. Loved your colours. Going to give the gilding flakes a try. Can you use mica powders and how do you get ink off your hands?
I use regular isopropyl alcohol to clean my hands.... And you can mix mica powder in with the alcohol ink for sure!
very pretty. I will give it a try. thank you
Very cool backgrounds! Thank you for sharing

Great technique, can’t wait to try it.😎
What type of heat gun are you using? Do you use it on “ cool” or “ hot” ?
Beautiful artwork I hope I get that good with them
You can do it!
I’ve looked back through your videos a way since you did this one but can’t see the project you made with the panels. Am I missing something?
Great panels! Thanks for sharing! Can you cut these panels?
They come in sizes as small as 4x4 and are available in about 75 sizes up to 20x24, so there are lots of sizes, but yes you can cut them two different ways. Hallo, can I use cardboard or 180/220 g heavy paper for this technique? Thanks!
Once it dries could you paint dog portrait for example on top of it, in acrylics or oil
Yup! Great idea too!
Love the intro😂
Very beautiful just a quick question I have a piece of glass made out of a bottle and I use an alcohol ink and now it didn’t come out so well so I do you know how I can remove the alcohol ink on this bottle and redo it or do I just paint over it and start over the texture is blotchy and dry on this particular one and I think when I made the mistake of us putting alcohol and on the bottom and not letting the alcohol dry before I cleaned it off ty ♥️
Try zapping your alcohol ink with a blow dryer.... Not on super hot setting. That might help.
Laurel Beard Ok and Ty for your response! 😁
Beautiful!
Beautiful! Inspires me to be creative tfs 🥰
i love our art works. Is it necessary to spray the art piece in the end?
Nope. Not at all...
What type of art brushes are good for this? Like water color brushes or horse hair? Or does it not really matter?
it doesn't matter. Cheapo brushes are fine! Just brushes dedicated just to alcohol inks.
What type of board do you use under the piece you’re making ?
Are you using Yupo panels?
Looove this video sooo much. Thank you 😍😍😍😍
I love to use isopropyl too. Many greetings from Germany ❤️
What is the clear alcohol you use to wet the board and make the cells?
isopropyl alcohol
Please let me know what is the difference between fixative and a sealer
Laurel, can Brea alcohol inks be used with Ranger alcohol inks. Thank you for the tutorial.
I am wondering this too and would you put the sealer stuff on if you were making a card?
Yes, you can mix the two alcohol ink brands. And I do put a sealer on cards as well as my hard panels, but putting on cards is just a habit. I don't believe you need to do that for cards.
My sis and I want to do cards with alcohol inks. Do you have any suggestions/resources? I just stumbled on your channel and subscribed! A.I. has pretty much taken over my life! LOL. I have been using the gold leaf sheets and resin
I have quite a few videos on alcohol inks so be sure to check out that playlist. Instagram is another good place to look by searching the key word.
What was the white stuff you put on before the alcohol ink?
Just isopropyl alcohol
Can you seal it in the end??what do you prefer
You can seal it with a krylon spray, I usually just leave them alone! :)
Did you use a craft hit gun ? I’ve heard you’re supposed to use cool air ? I’m so confused 😐
Yes I did. You can use a blow dryer to blow the air around too...
Thanks. Could you tell me what sealer you used?
Krylon Matte Sealer
Hi Laurel, can you cut the board? Thanks for bring this product to my attention. You know I need a reason to spend money.
Yes, you can cut it with a saw or a sturdy box cutting sharp razor knife and a straight edge, but it takes multiple passes with your knife blade. Be patient, and make sure to keep your fingers away from the blade.
John Sooklaris thank you very much
HAHAHA, I like spending money too. My husband does not like that quality.
I found the Brea Reese alcohol inks much messier...the consistency was a bit more runny than the Ranger inks. Did you notice any differences?
I did notice the Brea Reese are not as thick as ranger, but I liked that because it moved around the paper easier... Yes, the bottles do tend to be messy, especially in the lid/tip area...
Simply Cardmaking with Laurel Beard, Exactly! I kept trying to clean up the lids and it was a losing battle! I really enjoy your videos and you are such a talented artist!
What brand inks do you use?
Jaquard Inks off of Amazon
Where is your link to supplies?
In the description! :)
WHERE ⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️
What about alcohol inks on canvas?
I've never tried that....
I don’t think she mentioned that the ink has to be a high percentage isopropyl. Like 90 and up. The lower ones don’t work. :)
oh yes, 91% and above work great.
Can I use alcoholic ink on canvas
non porous surfaces only. So I don't think so. Unless the canvas has a slick coating on it.
I think you can if you apply gesso first. Haven't tried it yet.
Nice
Nice❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Meant hot gun !
Tfs!
For BASICS Video, you didn’t explain what you’re using, is that water? Rubbing alcohol? What use the panel made of?
She definitely said it was alcohol.
im like the only kid here :(
NO!!!! I like kids! Stay a while.
This is not for beginners!
