Your review made me buy this watch! I wanted a navy blue dress watch and this one scratched the itch for me! I don’t mind quartz at all. Automatic are my preferred, but quartz are great, too. I think it’s important to have both!
I bought this watch a few months ago.. Being in love with watches, I bought a Tissot Gentleman powermatic 80 with a blue dial. The dials are comparable. Amazingly beautiful dial in both, with the same sunburst effect, but with a considerable price difference.
Bought this today. Wanted a blue dial watch, was looking at citizen mostly, tried a few citizens on that didn’t quite work for me, then looked at this and was love at first sight. So light, the dial and dial colour was spot on. Have another quartz and a citizen eco drive. Wife has a couple automatics, both Tissot that drive her nuts as they go too fast, so this was even better for me when it was quartz. Very happy with this.
I was considering picking one of these up. Reminds me of my baby Snowflake in case shape, bracelet and minute markers. I love that its grab and go and a nice blue dial.
Was seriously considering picking up a quartz Tissot Gentleman with the blue dial since they are marked down, this Seiko I think has bumped the Tissot.
The sunburst dial of Tissot has a shallow purpleish blue if you see it in person. Seiko’s dial is more handsome. However downsides are that the bracelet feels and look cheap. I changed it with leather straps.
I recently picked up the titanium version (SUR375). The only difference besides the material, is the bracelet is solid main links. The price is just under $250, and definitely worth a look.
@@zogzog1063 you said it yourself, you have this and Sarx! Sarx have zaratsu polish if im not mistaken so polish is superior to sarb and this, which is normal! But between this sur309 and sarb finish doesnt have much difference even maybe its on the same level.
Had the silver dial. Didn't like the silver dial (I assumed it was more white, but it was very silver), so I sold it. But these pieces could be a worthy only watch, if you are not a collector/watch-person. My father has had a small, thin, quartz Seiko from the 1990's, and it has kept up with almost 3 decades of literally everything. Thousands of miles of back-country skiing and thousands of shotgun recoils later, and it still runs like clockwork... There's seemingly no need for a G-Shock 😅 For reference, my Orient Mako II had its automatic movement go haywire on me the first time I took it back country skiing... Extreme temperature and shocks somehow lead to the accuracy becoming sporadic afterwards. I recorded it being 30 minutes/day fast at times, then 2 min/day slow at other times. My local watchmaker didn't know how to fix it. I had to send it back to the seller who sent it to some repair centre of sorts. Took forever to get back to me. After that experience, my respect for quartz skyrocketed and my main piece is quartz-based from now on.
Broo do you have the photo of SUR307? I Intend to buy it, however I'm in the middle of dilema between buying a new SUR037 or second SARB035 (which a little bit scratched)
@@mscstorage3737 hi there, idk if it's too late or not but I recently bought both the SUR 307 & 309. (not the sarb035, as it's not worth it imo when prices were 1/2 3 or 4 years ago). You still need pics? by the way, the 307 dial is indeed not flat white, it's sunburst silver white. It's thus different than a GS/SARB035. It gives silver sunburst in full sunlight, flat white in natural white light and even champagne colourish in yellow light. Imo, captures light really well. You don't get the stark/cream white, but in reward, you get a unique dial no other seiko/brand has. The SUR309 on the other hand, mimics the SBGV225 GS dial really well. Ofc, the degree of finish and the satin reflection is 1/2 of the SBGV, but for 1/10th the price, imo it mimics it really well.
I just bought the same one. I stared at it often it's a beautiful watch with the blue face. I'd like to upgrade the bracelet though. It's the only thing I don't like about it. Mine hits the markers dead center.
It will add some thickness, at least up to 11mm (Presage are usually thicker than that). Being a dress watch it should be as thin as possible -IMO-, so this "compromise" with a quartz movement does more good than bad.
Damn you, my second hand doesn't hit the mark. I was perfectly happy until now. I'm just kidding I didn't even notice it. Now I know what to look for on my next watch.
