- Seiko popped out 4 nice new titanium dress watches this year. At just 75 grams, they all have sapphire, scratch resistant crystals as well as solid link titanium bracelets. We think they represent a step in the right direction to listening to the customer base.

Quartz excellent.! A lot of us average Joes can't be bothered with autos in affordable watches or expensive watches.We just want good looking,well made watches that just keep accurate time without the agro.Just swap a battery every few years.Nice watches.

I have the Seiko titanium green two tone. It’s so light and I love wearing it as a daily watch.
The SUR line is so awesome; best thing out of Seiko in a while, at least for us quartz fans. The SUR 307, 309, 311 etc. bring the Grand Seiko look and elegance to those of us on a budget, and in quartz with sapphire and decent water resistance. All they've been lacking until now is on of Seiko's fantastic green dials. I wish it was available in a steel version, but beggars can't be choosers and I, for one, will be ordering a 377 post haste to round out my "poor man's Grand Seiko" collection.

These take me back. I had a similar titanium Seiko with day/date in the 90s, and still have it. These new ones have a MUCH better bracelet than the hair-pullers of the old days. Thanks for sharing!

And this includes the manual for my ancient Seiko quartz chronograph.
I bought a Seiko Titanium watch and bracelet 25 years ago; much like the SUR373 in dark gray only smaller diameter. It is quartz and is still running great, unbelievable. It is so light and comfortable, a terrific watch. Nice to see they have brought out some new versions.
My grandpa still wears his titanium seiko everyday that he bought over 30 years ago. He says he just swaps the battery every couple years and nothing else

@@Alias_Anybody you can buy the steel version from seiko for like 120-150. The price will come down in the grey market for these, the steel ones were also 250msrp.

seiko sur307p1 is my dress/office watch :) found it under 150$! What a bang for money!!! Saphire and precize quartz! i have on a leather strap most of the time.
Titanium, solar, sapphire will be a great combination.
Got the SUR375 today, what a great daily wearer. Sized for my 7.25 inch wrist, it weights a light 64 grams. I have G-Shocks heavier than that. But this watch checks a lot of boxes. Sapphire crystal, titanium, lume, dauphine hands, 100m WR, brand heritage, and an approachable price. I feel like that for a Lot of people, this could be a one and done watch in a lot of ways.
I ordered a gray dial the day this video posted. Got it 4 days later, and went to order one for a friend only to find them all sold out. Just proves how much people still love Seiko.

@@Ab01-p6p At the time, there was no black dial. Not sure if that has changed, but the gray has a nice sunburst effect.
Beautiful watches. I especially like the silver one. I just wish it had solid endlinks (like much cheaper titanium Citizen's) and a solid clasp. 38-39mm diameter would've been the cherry on top but still, great pieces!
The sur377 scratches that itch for a green/gold dial. A bit like the Grand Seiko Summer edition for significantly less money

Not doing solar watches is fine with me. Changing a $3 battery every three or so years is not a problem. Quartz watches tend not to break. Solar powered quartz watches are not as reliable in the long run.
Not as reliable? My Mother had a Pulsar ladies watch from the 90s, sold it recently for about $40, solar and battery functions all still worked 100% The watch cost around $120 back then, according to her.
I think it’s a great overall package. I would consider getting one in the future, especially if they come out with a white dial. Hopefully they will sell and stay in stock. I like having a simple, thin grab and go watch. This one has a classic look. Wish it was solar, but that would probably make it 1-2 mm thicker.
Dial likely wouldn't be as nice either.
Litterally perfect. Or, with AR coating, a better bracelet, and perfect second hand alignment, it would be perfect. But I'll get leather and rubber quick release straps for it, and it's as close to a perfect watch for my taste as I've ever found. Wish there was a black dial.
I may be in the minority but I think this would be perfect at 36mm. A great everyday dressy all around watch that you never have to worry about.
You have the 36 mm steel version.

Like me.. Im the kind of person who love to see second hand smooth movement like automatic...it's entertaining for me.. as for quartz.. I love how every second hand hit those markers perfectly.. for example, Casio Edifice, Casio Gshock MTG or MRG
Seiko with a sapphire! i nearly passed out in shock! lol, mind tad too late as i moved onto Citizen a few years back with the added benefits of Eco drive and far better bracelets on them over Seiko.

I have a citizen or two on my possible shopping. Like seiko - citizen is inconsistent with the use of sapphire across models at similar price points. However I do like eco drives!
@@TeslaRules1856 Agree but quality control is better at Citizen have yet to have a misaligned chapter ring unlike Seiko and a lot of Citizen's watches have solid end links, pick from their range well and great grab and go watches 👍
My only problem with citizen is they make some rather boring watches, nothing close to the save the ocean Turtles with ceramic or the cocktail time.
That green with the 2-tone bracelet is the best of the bunch ⌚😎👍

Absolutely nothing wrong with quartz. I have quartz, solar, and mechanical watches in my collection. One of the problems with quartz is the reviewers. So many qualify their statements. Anyway, I agree with you on these watches. Seiko seems to have begun listening to its critics.
The main complaint people have is the 2 minutes it takes to replace the battery every few years. I'm sure that few minutes it takes to replace the battery is less time wasted than have to reset the time and date of a auto that have been sitting too long.
Quartz is absolutely fine, and useful to have a few of them.

3 or 4 decades ago I bought a Seiko titanium 7N42-8109. 38mm, 41mm lug tip to tip, 8.15mm thick. I have beaten it regularly, and indices at 8, 10, and 12 have fallen out during battery changes. I think it is on the third battery and it still runs great even if the crystal and band are a little scruffy. AND the sweep seconds hand registers PERFECTLY! If it had lume I would consider freshening it up.... But that green 2-tone sure looks nice!

So it's basically very similar to the veteran SGG731, which is also all titanium, sapphire crystal, 100m water resistant, similar design and finish, but 38mm diameter and 100$ cheaper and has a day/date instead of date only complication?
It is like the old SGG models, yes.
It would be nice to see them do a no-date version with their VH31 sweeping quartz movement.
Who needs a watch when we have phones, I have a shit ton of theses watches made by seiko ,still none compare to the 1000 dollar phone we all have,stick with what you need and use unless you can afford a cool ass hobbie
@@joshuawatts4904 Watches do more than tell time, they make a statement. They can either stand out or be more laid back, and only really noticed by someone who appreciates watches. To me, nice classic subtle watches represent an era of time where men were men and acted as such. I remember being very young and trying on my father's and grandfather's watches, and telling myself I'd get a watch just like theirs when I grow up. So, yes, you can indeed use your thousand dollar phone which by the way not "everyone" has, or, you can slightly tilt your wrist and look at a literally timeless classic, aesthetically pleasing piece of jewelry. A watch says a lot about a person, and the fact that you'd rather pull out your iPhone says a lot about you.
Sad about the lack of Solar watches coming out. I love some of the earlier Seiko solar dive watches! SNE109 is my favourite

Have yet to own an LOL sWiSs mAdE quartz where the seconds hand hits all the marks but my $100 Citizen nails the hashes

Great review, thanks. I just bought the green two tone and the light blue from H Samuel in the UK for £120 each. If you are going to swoop do it quickly as they will not be that price for long. Looking forward to delivery. The only trouble is, I will have to find a way of hiding them from my wife as I promised I would not buy any more watches in 2022. I didn't even last until the end of January!
In your wrist shot a "perfect" size for a classic three-hand watch would be around 38 mm. This watch is too large for its style and for average to slim wrists. Glad I got the SNXS73 while it was available.

I've spent so much time with Chinese specials that the pricing honestly hits you like a wall when you go back to a name brand. Even though it's titanium, 250 for a basic quartz hurts.

The steel version are like 120-150. The price will come down on the grey market in a few months.

The fact that someone rejects a watch just because of the quarz clock work or prefers another watch because of it mechanic clockwork is omly a proof of bein a noob.
There are sophisticated quarz clockworks but also cheep and unreliable ones. Same as the mechanical automatic.
In my job and privqte life it's all about time. I have a very tight schedule plan every day.
I need a reliable and accurate watch.
Since long time I would like to buy an automatic but... my gosh...10 to 20 seconds deviation per day means after 2 weeks around 3 to 3.5 Minutes...means, I miss my subway to the airport and my flight or bullet train. I can't wake up at 4 am and first starting to wind up a clock and to adjust the time....and do the same every few days.
Also every few years sending it to the store to clean, oil, adjust. For a few hundret buks or even thousand for Rolexes.
If a watch can't show me the accurate time every day, needs to be pampert and cared frequently with costs, which can be damaged by bumbs but also costs few thousands without doing it's job well...than it might be not worth.
I have a Junghans Quarz since 11 years.
I justed intensively. Such a reliable and accurate clockwork.
I just left the Saico store here in germany and the sales woman agreed and showed me her watch on her wrist....quarz. She saud because of the same reasons I mentioned. She has an automatic at home but no motivation to adjust at the mornings.
The seiko sur377p1 looks really great.
Even the swiss brands HaNoWa and Victorinox, both deliverer of watches fir the swiss army are using Quarz!
Swiss and Army...there can't be any doubt. Because automatics are just not reliable and military is till about surviving.
By the way....please present these two brands if you can...both totally underrated. But very affordable....even as swiss made watches.
Got the 377 a while back. Lovely watch. The green was slightly darker than I expected, but it's grown on me. If it was brigter it'd be a bit much on such a restrained design. 2mm smaller would be even better, but it's lovely as is.

If you are a one watch guy this is a exellent deal, it will last forever, all you need is a battery every 6 years or so, and don't break the date set gear.

I received my new ISL-39 Islander today. Totally blown away by the quality of the watch. You did an awesome job with these, Marc!
I bought four watches in the last few months, a Sinn, a Christopher Ward, a Seiko and now the Islander. The Islander is the only one that didn't come with any QC issues and it's a third of the price of the next cheapest on the list. Go figure.

Very nice. Glad to see sapphire becoming more prevalent on quartz watches. These are still a bit expensive though as Casio for instance already offers sapphire on their analogues, though not in titanium afaik.

Nice watch, but look at the gap around the bracelet near the lugs. You can see daylight coming through. For me, I much prefer solar too, for me Seiko is becoming more expensive and the quality worse.

I'm glad that it isn't a solar anymore unfortunately Citizens eco-drive has messed that up for me but these watches look like a less expensive presage/cocktail time which is not a bad thing since it includes a sapphire crystal

I have an older version similar to these, all titanium but it’s only 36 mm and 7.5 thick, mineral crystal, 5 bar w/r. I don’t wear it anymore it’s just too small of a watch nowadays. Thanks for sharing them! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸

Cool! I sort of built this watch last year with a SNE529 and a very similar looking silver and gold band from Amazon. Mine has no lume and isn't titanium, but solar and has a black date and day wheel... all for about $140. :D
I hope Seiko's move away from solar is only temporary.

Hey Marc! Glad you did a review for this line. I've been eyeing it and not a lot of reviews yet. Anyway, two things on your website. Your link to these particular watches to your website (from the description) doesn't work, and there are multiple brand filters that divide a particular brand into two because of capitalization. Maybe this will be the death knell for hardlex. Nice watches. I like titanium and if I didn't already have a couple of Citizen Titaniums I really love I'd snag that gray one. I wonder how easy it would be to swap out the battery oneself when need be.

The second hand misalignment really bothers me. Unlike Seiko, ALL my CITIZEN watches have perfect second hand alignment with the dial markings.
Not one of these I've seen on UA-cam have a seconds hand where it lines up with the seconds indices. I don't understand why Seiko does that.
Checking the ISL -18 and 63. Still deciding what to get. I know the ISL-63 is perfect for my 6.25" wrist but I love wearing the 42 mm also.

Hello my friend... What are the differences between the SUR369 and the SUR375 ... I was looking for the SUR375 thinking the dial color is gray, but some people and webpages said it's like a black and even blue color. And trying to clarify my doubts I saw the SUR369 for the gray dial.. But you said is silver hahaha... So I more confused, can you please help me to understad. Thank you

This is my affordable Grand Seiko snowflake. I just wish they would've made it an automatic :( I rarely wear dress watches and quartz on it seems just like a waste to me

I disagree with a lot of comments on this thread regarding instruction manuals. I for one when buying a watch, like a nice and dedicated instruction manual, not something I have to print off on A4. OK I get the issues re: saving the planet etc, but a lot more needs to happen on that score to have an impact. Are Seiko adopting the same policy right up to Prospex LX and Grand Seiko?

They should do a recessed crown on this model. My quartz watches need very little adjustment from month to month.
