After many requests, i decided to bring you this extra video about my Honda CX project.
This is the first video about it, since the project started.
The motorcycle model is a 1984 Honda CX 650 Custom, but i also labed the video title with CX 500, just to help the video being found on youtube.
I will bring more news about the developments of the project very soon.

Your channel is a reference on the cafe subject, the fact that you are diving into a personal project (and that you are not shy to share it) just give you extra credentials.
I'm about to start my cafe project, not my first project, but first cafe, I just bought the donor bike (a Japanese, carbed CB1300) and I'm laying out the design at the moment.
I don't know if it is your first project, but building a bike is the most fullfiling, frustrating, upsetting, exhilarating, delighting, motivating and desperating thing I can think of (yes, all that at the same time). Nothing feels like riding a bike you've built, the feeling of pride, ownership and intimacy is hard to describe.
Best of luck for your build. IMO regular forks are the way to go for a bike of this size, I think that inverted forks look best on wider, meatier bikes on which standard forks can look skinny where they connect to the triple-tree because they are visually outweighted by the tank width. Can't wait to see the final result :)

Your project is much further along than I had presumed! You are building, what will become, a standard by which to compare other CX projects. I like your choice of forks and I anticipate the tank shall have appropriate lines that fit the machine and the look that you established. I am confident that you will enjoy the final results. A preview always creates expectation because it signals the direction of something that is not yet, but will be. However the seen is more than enough to magnificently delineate a motorcycle that many expect. It is good to attend the birth of something and compare with the final product. It is also important to observe the decisions that may not have been part of the initial project, such as the final decision about the type of front tension originally contemplated and the one that was left. That's what I would build if I had a CX. Reverse megaphone pipes just like on a Thruxton, great choice!

I have a 2012 bonneville but i find its not become the true cafe racer bike i originaly wanted. I feel one bike cant be everything or enough. Im very inspired by your videos and a cx 500 build is something i might consider doing one day to fullfill my desires.

Cheguei a pensar em azul escuro para a pintura, mas o preto acaba sempre por ficar melhor. Sim o banco vai ser próximo do marrom claro, ou castanho claro como dizemos aqui em Portugal. :) Um abraço.

Another excellent video. I think a gas tank from a 1976 Honda CB 500 T would look good on that one. The 500T tank sorta follows the same shape of the CX tank but a little slimmer and sleeker in my opinion. Add a brown leather seat and your there.
Yes, the 1976 Honda CB 500 T fuel tank looks good. But the problem is the front end of that fuel tank, because it is not parallel to the Front Forks. Thank you my friend for sharing your perspective. :) Cheers.

Acho particularmente difícil conciliar o clássico e o esportivo.. se eu fosse projetar minha café racer com certeza eu passaria dias ou meses na tentativa de equilibrar essas duas coisas, não só pelo imprescindível "feeling" requerido para isso, mas também devido à crucial importância dessa questão, afinal são os dois pilares das cafe racers. Chega a ser impressionante como no pouco mostrado, já é francamente escancarado essa característica.
Passei os últimos dias repleto de expectativas e ideias de observações à fazer.. foi muito bom ver que tudo isso é pura besteira, posso relaxar, como se desapertasse o cinto e confortavelmente ligasse o piloto automático.. estamos na mão de quem conhece rs..
Mas não consigo resistir à fazer um breve comentário rs.. : A escolha pelas bengalas dianteiras originais foi, como eu diria, digna da Racer TV rs.. mas fiquei curioso qual será sua solução para o farol já que, em minha talvez precipitada opinião, seu projeto comporta tanto um farol clássico e sóbrio quanto um farol arrojado e "diferenciado".. vendo o porte da sua moto, surge minha particular preferência, mas me abstenho de opinar aqui.. sei que qualquer que seja a escolha, será muito sofisticado.
No mais, de minha parte, se você quiser passar os próximos vídeos dedicados somente à sua CX fique a vontade rs.. Grande abraço.
Meu caro amigo, Você parece que adivinha os meus pensamentos.
Realmente a minha ideia neste projecto, é conciliar de forma harmoniosa o melhor que existe de moderno com o de melhor que há no estilo clássico.
Não é fácil, mas depois de quase 1 ano e meio a desenvolver o projecto, acho que finalmente o consegui.
Em relação ao farol da frente, cheguei a experimentar um farol clássico, mas não resultou como esperava devido o grande tamanho da concha traseira do farol.
Por isso, irá ter um farol bastante sofisticado, e com sistema de fixação muito vanguardista que fará toda a diferença.

Parabéns pelo projeto, já faz tanto tempo que acompanho os teus videos que antes mesmo de você mostrar a projeção do tanque modificado eu já havia previsto como o tanque ficaria inclusive alterando a geometria do chassi para acompanhar a linha do tanque, achei curioso o fato de você preferir um garfo dianteiro ortodoxo ao invés de um invertido, mais depois que você explicou a decisão entendi a proposta e até mesmo o fato de manter os freios da ninja para este projeto, já que o resultado desejado é ganhar presença e imponência. Algo que eu acho que poderia ficar interessante é que se vc optar por um farol como o da Svartpilen (Husqvarna) e este farol utilizar luz diurna esta luz poderia ser amarela como a do conceito M8 Gran Coupe que a BMW apresentou no salão de genebra recentemente, apesar de gostar da iluminação super branca acho que a iluminação amarela dá um ar mais vintage pro projeto. Enfim estou ansioso pra ver o resultado final e ser surpreendido por suas escolhas. Um grande abraço e boa sorte neste projeto.

Looking good. There is some street fighter vibes on that bike while it is un finished. Are you planning mixing cafe and fighter or am i totally headed to the wrong direction how i see that bike finished.

Thank you my friend for your support.The mufflers are replicas of the Peashooter exhaust that used to fit on the old Norton of the 60's and 70's. In my opinion, it has one of the best sounds among all the old motorcycles. :) Cheers.

Agradecido pela dica das suspensões tinha pensado nas da FJR1300 para o projecto que estou a fazer, mas estas são capazes de se adequarem melhor. Por cá fico para ver o resultado final.
Tenho que admitir que a frente da FJR 1300 também é bastante apetecível, considerando que tem baínhas de 48 mm. Mas também tem um curso de amortecimento relativamente elevado com 137 mm, o que poderá ser demasiado para uma Cafe Racer. Obrigado amigo por partilhar a sua opinião. :) Um abraço.
Essa por acaso é uma das características que me interessava, pois a ideia é metê-la numa K1100 com jantes raiadas (o que potencialmente pode pôr dificuldades de espaço, a roda é de 18) e com um conceito a meio caminho entre um cavalo e uma mula.
Poder eliminar a ponte no topo das jarras ajuda a baixar o pára-lamas e a função estabilizadora já é dada pelo eixo, além de que se serve (e bem) para uma mota daquele tamanho e peso...
Só uma coisa qual é o comprimento da suspensão da Ninja sem peso em cima (do topo ao centro do eixo), pois já estou à procura e dava jeito saber com quanto posso contar. pois pode nem ser viável para a minha potencial utilização. Um abraço.
Pois, cada mota possui a sua própria necessidade. No caso da minha Cx 650, acho que resultou bastante bem, mas a altura do quadro da Serie K é bastante diferente. Mas não percebi bem a sua questão. Quer saber o comprimento máximo da bainha sem compressão na mola, certo?
Sim, na CX deu-lhe mais "peitaça", vai ficar fixe.
Exacto o que quero saber é o comprimentos total sem compressão.

Merci, The rear wheel that you see in this video, is still the original. It will have a spoked wheel similar to the front wheel, but much wider. :) Salute.

Olá amigo. Na realidade não é assim tão difícil de encontrar esta suspensão, até porque a Kawasaki ZX6 R tem a mesma forqueta e travões. O preço varia entre os 300 e os 400 euros dependendo do estado em que se encontra. Tente o OLX ou o Custo Justo. A grande dificuldade é fazer a adaptação no quadro, exigindo trabalho profissional de torneiro mecânico. Um abraço.

In a way, I agree with you. The Cx500 is a very difficult motorcycle for a cafe Racer project, and the engine doesn't have the power that it should. In my opinion, i think it is because of the engine sound, and specially because they are cheap and inexpensive to maintain. I am also one of the Enthusiasts of the CX model. That is why i bought the Honda CX 650 Custom(much better than the CX 500), and really believe that my project is going to prove that it is possible to transform a Honda Cx, in a very good and beautiful cafe racer. :) Thank you my friend for your comment. :) Cheers.

Where it is written that a cafe needs to be concours beautiful? Doesn't being rough in fact make it more authentic? The original cafe's were about going fast. And that meant they were beat up. Made by people on a budget else they wouldn't need to cafe their old smaller engine bikes. As such, it's current state is probably more what an authentic cafe would be like :-)
One fun thing. Will be nicer for changing oil with the more frontward lean and the forward oil fill plug :-D Change the oil without needing center stand! Not sure how dramatic it would be though, but you might need to run a little bit more oil. The rearward bias pickup, plus lean when on stand could make for poorer oiling on idle. Right side pickup was the killer of the 450 DOHC due to the pump having trouble pressurizing the system enough to proper lube the camshafts. I am not familiar enough with this engine though to know if that could be the case if the engine is forward cantered like that. The bigger question might also be whether clutch will have the proper level of oil for good operation with the slope. Change in geometry could potentially cause problems with the driveshaft. Once more, not sure on that part for these bikes.
Your opinion about what a cafe racer motorcycle should be, is equally valid as much other kind of approaches.It is just a matter of personal choice based in our own taste. Cheers.

There is nothing that really defines what a cafe is. As such, yours will be just as good as any on your channel because you are doing it your way the best you can!
Passion shows. When somebody cares about their project, they care about the fine details. Those are what enthusiasts notice more than just shiny paint. So I absolutely cannot wait for your final product!

Tell me, why not build your own, I know you have excellent taste, that's obvious from the bikes you choose to show, so designing your own is not a problem for you, but why have someone else have the pleasure of building it?
That is a very good question.
But it is very easy to answer.
Unfortunately, i don't have enough time to build it, and i also don't have the technical expertise or machinery to make it look exactly as i want.
But even so, i had the pleasure of design it, and i am also participating and helping in most parts of the building process, which is consuming a lot of my time already. Cheers.
