There was a rule clarification that regardless of stated ability the Into the Dark walls can not be breached. The Kommando Breacher Boy always had that ability, but not on ITD.
If they can dial back power creep… I see eight sniper rifles with three bullgryn with 3+ saves or 3 ogryn killing everything on the charge… I don’t know why but I see this team having some serious play.
Something to note that most guard players will have bullgryns/ogryns as they can be attached to protect leaders or because they were the only melee units for awhile
Great stuff as always lads. Still the best kill team channel it’s not even close. Orks look fun although I would have expected a few more wounds or an easier way to get 3AP regularly as they are basically a 6 operative elite team as squigs have been so badly nerfed they can barely kill a guard in the unlikely event they get in touching distance. As a 2AP team with 4+ armour and fewer wounds than marines they will really struggle into elites. With the Ratlings quite worried about the 6 wounds and dismal combat, how can they ever capture objectives? I expected they would have some way of damage reduction by being such small targets that you only wing them or reduce opponents to hit by 1 as that would aid survivability.
I wasn't thinking to get the box - probably just getting the Tankbustas when they get their solo release - but despite the critical review of them, you do make the Ratlings sound potentially fun, especially with scarper. Really appreciate the review.
An elite tanky melee ork team is what I’ve been begging for and the tank bustaz look so awesome. I can’t wait to get ahold of them. And while I don’t care much for ratlings I love ogryn so I may end up picking up that team as well and using as many ogryn as possible.
With augrin's, I can see the little fellows having some good play. HOWEVER, I think elf teams with big charge ranges or Mandrakes in particular will menace them
Hmmm, waited to watch a couple of analysis videos before I decided if I wanted this kit. Then I decided it looked pretty good and decided to order one. Oh dear, they seem to have sold out before the videos posted. Gosh darn it! 😉
Seriously, if GW is going to do this early release thing to influencers, they should let you start talking about the product BEFORE it goes up for preorder. With the two week preorder window it would make more sense to let you guys review the kits for a week before it goes up. As it is, it’s just a little pointless. Oh yeah, the other option would be for GW to be a little more optimistic about demand and actually produce enough product to cover demand.

I was really interested in the ratlings, but it seems that GW nerfed them due to them being basically all snipers. Seems like the Orks will be an infuriating team that will roll other teams when dice spike and just melt when they don't. On the Ratlings 3 big guys with good armor and a team full of silent snipers with super conceal who can shoot into cover has got to be really high skill but potentially pretty good.
I think you guys misinterpreted the Ogryn option. It is always an 11 model team, up to 3 of which can be Ogryn. You get 3 - X ploys permanently set to 0CP cost at the start of the game, where X = the number of Ogryn operatives you took.
Honestly I think that's wrong. In the rules it says you can swap a for B and B for C. Where a is hobbit, B is ogryn, C is free ploy. So I think they read it right.
I think you gotta too, since it says you can swap an ratling for an ogryn. And only then you get the choice to instead of that not take the ogryn, but get free ploys. Swap a for B and B for C sort of affair. It doesn't say don't swap. And if you don't swap get free ploy.
@GundamReviver it must be written in a really ambiguous way. Considering how weak they are without ogryns even with 11 I feel they may have MEANT it that way but perhaps not
I'm pretty sure that the jumble of words under the 'gryn asterix is trying to communicate that a full ratling team gets 3 free ploys for the battle, because you passed up 3 opportunities to take a 'gryn?
But why would that trigger except if you already swap a ratling for an ogryn? To me it looks like swap a for B and B for C. So of course you don't get ploys for free, without first trading away a: the ratling.
@ It’s just confusingly worded I think. Near the end of the Designer’s Commentary in the B&C book it says that when you take a ‘gryns you “miss out on free ploys”, and there’s no mention of trading an operative for a ploy earlier.
