Really REALLY enjoyed RPG corner talk. Please do more of them in future episodes. Also, consider doing narrative episodes. I’d definitely listen in for that!
OMG I clucking love RAID, thanks guys, I didn't even know about all the awesome epic champions and there leading the charge with inventive game play 😁😁. Sponsors be sponsors keep up the good work 👍
Have filled out your survey and final response was rather lengthy my apologies but it highlights what your content has done for me whilst in recovery! A massive thank you! Keep being you!
46 minutes ago? I'm truly blessed. Great content as always. Fun answers are fun but as you said, the key with enjoyment and progress in the hobby is just to freaking paint!
Okay, I’m only in the ttrpg part of the video, and may I just say: I would have loved to be a player in Scott’s session. I’ve both played and GM’ed, and honestly, there’s always a risk that a player group gets tunnel vision in a pressed situation, and it is not always on the GM. I’ve been on both sides of it. I know Scott is new, but he’s clearly doing an amazing amount of work to give his players a good experience. I hope your players are ready to grow with you, and next time you meet, I hope they are ready to laugh at the experience and appreciate just how cool a beat that was in their story! Also, man the game Jon is in sounds SWEET. I really should get back into a game as a player. Also YES, LINCOLN, YESSSSS!
Your description of the dragons your nephew wants sound perfect for ASOIAF mother of dragons box set. You paint one or two, then you gift him a set of paints to paint the last ones. Get him hooked!
I think your consideration about showing what the hobby is (as opposed to a perfectly polished and likely unobtainable thing) comes through Scott. You often show struggles, mess ups, cover ups etc. That's what a majority of us I think can relate too, and often dealing with those issues is arguably more important than replicating some technique, because you aren't gonna get there if you don't smash your head against a few walls first.
I forget what episode it was, but the episode that y'all talked about not airbrushing on UA-cam because of the comments... Just wanted to say, I took several hours putting multiple basecoat layers on six Space Marines and bought an airbrush after hearing John say he spent less than an hour airbrushing beautiful Leviathan terminators. Great investment, don't stop showing us good techniques so we can learn from you!!
Scott, how was the players reaction on the bomb thing? Where they disappointed? Feeling betrayed? Or where they like "hahaha we tried it, that was fun"? My best campaign so far was created in a way I, as the GM, didn't have the answers either, I was just the engine running the universe. And that took away that annoying responsibility of having to make everyone have fun. Have you checked OSR yet? (Old School Renaissance in TTRPG)
The rule of fail forward. Please keep up with RPG corner. Also, Scott, Shatterpoint is a great game. We gameres love it and enjoy the play. I agree its not perfect, lets just talk about that. Can you please paint a couple of KDM models for holiday. They celebrate seasonal changes. Also, John, can you please just help get the Vince bust in the works? Grandfather bust of love is fine to call it. Maybe we get anything that is a Papa V model that celebrates him as a icon in the world of painting. He is my Bob Ross.
Am I the only one who wants Atomic Mass Games or someone else to make a 54mm game where they control the IP? A fantasy skirmish game in that scale would be fantastic.
I think one of the books I'd give younger me is definitely issue 5 of "The Art of..." Series from Tommie Soule, published by Dave Taylor Miniatures. I love the way he teaches the fundamentals and gets you to really think about things like base coats and brush strokes. He really sets you up for success through the rest of the model.
old school DnD rule: players don't make their own perception checks... because if the room seems empty and sterile to your character, you don't know if that's a GOOD perception or a BAD perception.
I run quite a few 'secret checks' in my games (perception, stealth, etc), where the players don't know if they pass or fail until the world reacts to their action. Love it! :)
@@Ninjon I honestly think this is pointless. It takes away player action and adds more time of GM playing the game alone. If they fail all perception checks, either the story does not happen, or they loose a bunch of hidden optional things you spent a ton of time prepping. I avoid Perception checks if they're required to push the story. Or I use it with Fail Forward, or better yet, as a Contested test against an enemy.
My biddy and I played a game of Trench Crusade this weekend with the 1.5 playtest rules and the game is super fun all the rules are intuitive and make sense where you look it up once and it clicks.
For a Medium size dragon you should look at older Warmachine models for a Neraph/Seraph (it's a kit that could build either) or an Angelius they will be very dragony while standing out from the normal DnD types and all will look sweet in the Miniac colorscheme... they may be hard to find though
A tip for the dragon mini, for the card you could use the MtG card Kolaghan, Storm's Fury or Dragonlord Kolaghan. That dragon has a red/white/black colour scheme.
There's a pretty cool dragon of an older out of print game called wrath of kings. Think the model is call Fulong Devourer it has its own stat card for the game.
As far as painted minis as gifts, I would try to flex my skills and do some ornaments. Is it thrilling? Maybe not. But, it sucks less than Xmas shopping and you can shame them for being unsentimental if they don't like it. 😆 Win-win.
I don't like to demand my players to say specific things in order to give them information on a room. Like "I only say about the remote control, if they mention they opened the drawers". As a player, doing investigation work is usually more fun on creating links between info bits rather then finding really difficult clues. I usually give the same clue on three different places, to give them many opportunities to get it.
@@trappedunderplastic it helps, but you can speed up the process. As you keep playing, they'll understand your style and get your clues easier. Until then, I suggest to abuse the offgame talk. I always say to my players how many clues they need and whenever they found one. To me, this media is a Game in first place and a RolePlaying experience second.
I would tell myself to avoid Magic the Gathering and just focus on Warhammer completely, I would have saved so much money or at least have more minis. Also I would have said "Don't get more than 3 of any unit or model, also GW is going to eventually change loadouts to only be what comes in the box so to be careful with what I glue to my minis."
Have you guys ever lost a character because he died? After that happened for me the first time (it was epic) I'm always pushing boundaries to make it happen again hehehe
Do the yu-gi-oh dragon? Print it paint it The Bleu iced white dragon or something like that Ore print a dragon fore a dnd campaign let him make the monster sheet?
I don't like asking for Perception checks, if I need that to move the story forward. If it's optional, ask for the check. If you need that for the next step in the story, just give the players the info. I only ask for checks when the prize and the failure punishment is really clear.
I disagree on the options point. I remember when Atari was good and I remember when they began to shit out games at a rapid pace and that's what killed Atari. Too many bad options isn't good.
You guys keep saying hobby but all the others words and context you use around saying “hobby” are about having a job. . Deadlines, income, requirements, professionalism. . I don’t think you know what the word hobby means anymore.
@miniac Take a look at the Massive Darkness 2 Demon Dragon - comes with cards for the game and is a fun sculpt - also cheaper than GW options! Not that this is likely to help as I'm in the UK but I have a spare one 🤣

When it's 50 minutes of preamble ramble, I know it's going to be a good episode.

No one was livid, but they felt a little upset

Sweet. Just in time for some lunchtime listening.

Super small note... The Terminator is not a Robot. It is a Cyborg.

When I hear medium dragon, I think the dnd size category, aka one that fits on a 25mm base
A tip for the dragon mini, for the card you could use the MtG card Kolaghan, Storm's Fury or Dragonlord Kolaghan. That dragon has a red/white/black colour scheme.
........ never thought to use an oliver grabber for sponge painting. not a bad idea
I fully expected Jon to name the skull robot from "Hardware".
There's a pretty cool dragon of an older out of print game called wrath of kings. Think the model is call Fulong Devourer it has its own stat card for the game.
I can just hear the inner (and outer) monologues that went on behind the scenes recording the Raid ad 😂
Also, WPM results please!!
What would I say to myself..."Just paint dumbass!"
Archon Studios Dungeons&Lazers dragons are worth a look at
As far as painted minis as gifts, I would try to flex my skills and do some ornaments. Is it thrilling? Maybe not. But, it sucks less than Xmas shopping and you can shame them for being unsentimental if they don't like it. 😆 Win-win.
There's at least one old Warmahordes dragon which would fit the bill. And those *might* still have combat cards
For me, I'd give my younger self B&J's brush soap. Brush care makes even cheap brushes viable for longer.
It doesn't matter until he sees this episode on UA-cam
Data, from Star Trek, is best robot.
Not a robot, he's an Android
Charizard looks like a dragon. You will have to print it though
Legends of Signum stuff all come with little character cards and some stats.
I don't like to demand my players to say specific things in order to give them information on a room. Like "I only say about the remote control, if they mention they opened the drawers". Do you think this depends on the experience level of your players?

Love rpg corner!!
EQ tripled my WPM!!! Hahahah as soon as you said wpm that's what I thought of!!!!!
They did the meme!

Here's a movie recommendation for ya all: Bring Me the Head of the Machine Gun Woman.
Have you guys ever lost a character because he died? After that happened for me the first time (it was epic) I'm always pushing boundaries to make it happen again hehehe
Do the yu-gi-oh dragon? Print it paint it
The Bleu iced white dragon or something like that
Ore print a dragon fore a dnd campaign let him make the monster sheet?
Find a D&D dragon that kinda matches a magic card. The young dragons are decent size.
Scott you're thinking too hard! You could do Charizard or Dragonite from pokemon, Blue Eyes White Dragon from Yu-Gi-Oh. Or a dragon inspired from MTG
Scott do red-eyes black dragon, from yugioh
you pups went around when I started painting..... stay away from oil enamels
HEROSCAPE they have great minis with cool cards tho it’s not a traditional card the plastic is more child friendly.
Scott you own a 3d printer.......
What's this in reference to?
Damn I thought raid was gona be a joke at first.
I don't like asking for Perception checks, if I need that to move the story forward. If it's optional, ask for the check. If you need that for the next step in the story, just give the players the info. I only ask for checks when the prize and the failure punishment is really clear.
Jesus, what level is your samurai?
The best robot in Sci-Fi is Number 6 from Battlestar Galactica. All other answers are wrong.
Love how it sounds like you have no idea what the skills are when you did the raid shadow legends. Make that money bois
I would not agree that before Disney that star wars was changing the way it did with Disney. Disney fucked the whole system up.
I'm only referring to the art direction, nothing else. - Scott
I disagree on the options point. I remember when Atari was good and I remember when they began to shit out games at a rapid pace and that's what killed Atari. Too many bad options isn't good.

First, I guess
Guys Raid Shadow Legends....really? You're better than this.
Hey, they gotta get some cash for Xmas presents! Don't hate
I unironically use raid as a way to look at color schemes and stuff, but I spend 0 money on it XD
If you were paid $1100 to BS about their game for five minutes, you would do it to you
Jeez, next step crypto meme coin and a spot on a Coffeezilla scam video.
Haha. Yeah Excatly!
@miniac Take a look at the Massive Darkness 2 Demon Dragon - comes with cards for the game and is a fun sculpt - also cheaper than GW options! Not that this is likely to help as I'm in the UK but I have a spare one 🤣
