    The Chinese says "茗邦复古游戏机" - Míng bāng fùgǔ yóuxì jī. "Ming bang" is just the company name, 复古 means "vintage" or "retro" and "游戏机" is "games machine". Note that my Chinese is really bad, but I'm pretty sure this is right.

    They probably didn't remove the Konami logo because there's certain games that have an anti-piracy protection that in most cases not only it makes the game more difficult but also it activates bosses with infinite health that prevents you from beating the game. some Konami games have those piracy protections that are activated IF the Konami logo is not visible on the tittle screen.

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  6 років тому +4

      Hmm, I wasn't aware of that. Makes sense why they kept it in.

      Retro Core i know that because Famiclones first appeared around the early 90's and when a game got pirated they always removed the logo. as a result people with pirate copies of games had a terrible time playing.

      cuz they know every fxxking 80's born Chinese gamer love Famicom...... have to say, they easily chase the mainstream instead of following their true heart choosing what games and consoles are better. and that's why mobile gaming are so popular in mainland and two or three game companies dominate the market. this honestly had me interested, i mean they can get usb power circuits, and wireless controllers, but they still can't make one of these with games that use flash for game saves. And yes, i thought that was an SD card slot as well, probably a reused shell from something like an intel compute stick.

    Aside from the awful build quality of the controllers, and composite out in 2018, this is actually better than I expected. The sound emulation is far better than most other Chinese Famiclones, and it's impressive that the bluetooth controllers have no perceptible lag.

    This is actually a fantastic idea, just dock a Tegra based drive to a portable screen and you don’t need a dock or through put anymore ! You could also swap screens based on size and battery life 🤔

    • @RetroCore

      That would work well although they have to either go the HDMI route or device a unique video connection. USB won't do for video.

  • @dbnpoldermans4120

    So how is the d-pad? Is it playable? Is it at least one piece or are they just 4 buttons unconnected? Also does it pivot so you can just press on it in the middle and slightly press left or right to go left or right or is there no movement possible when you press the middle of the dpad like so many of these Chinese bs machines?
    Also does 2 player work with Contra (for example) or does it not work for 2 players?
    Wouldn't be surprised if it does not work at all?
    What is the reach of both controllers in action at the same time (contra)
    At the end of the video of your provided url to ali it shows it being played on a laptop? What is going on there? Perhaps an emulator is provided?
    I have no idea why I am asking all of this as I do not need anything like this, but I am curious and might just buy it because of the price and the size.

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  6 років тому +4

      Two players are fine with Contra. No problems at all playing two Player games.
      The D-pad is awful. Typical 4 button rubbish. You'd never be able to play a fighting game on this.
      Yeah, I saw that image on the link. That's just typical Chinese BS. All the USB port does is power the console.

      I'm not sure why people hate the disconnected 4 button d-pads on these knockoffs. I have some, like the MP5 player, the PXP3, and more recently the PocketGame, and for me it was just a quick adjustment and now I'm fine with it. No problems when playing games, fighting included.

    The non-epoxy blob chip is probably the flash memory to store the game data, the IC on the other side seems like a general-purpose 4-channel Opamp, which can do multiple purpose (typically audio, rarely also video or other high-frequency stuff if the manufacturer don't care about the bandwidth).

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  6 років тому +3

      I use a Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G7. Its a fantastic camera and unlike some it's pretty easy to understand. It can record 4k at 25 fps (cinema style) and 30 fps. It also does 1080p at a full 60fps. I'd definitely recommend this camera but it is a little expensive at around 500 British pounds. Also if you're in Europe then your camera will have a recording limit of 30 minutes. This is due to a stupid EU tax that is added to anything classes as a video camera (ie: records videos longer than 30 minutes). There are hacked firmwares to get around this problem. Mine is the Japanese version since I live in Japan so there are no limits. The only issue is that all menus are in Japanese. Setting up the live view via Wi-Fi was a right pain. In English it will be straight forward.

    um, honestly, kong feng is still the best 3rd party retrogaming "company" in China, but they concentrate on GB and GBC clones with enhanced screens, light add-on etc, and multicarts for Mega Drive. rumor has it that they ever produced a MAME-on-a-chip style USB arcade joystick which you can plug this with hdmi to your television. ever checked some pictures on a Chinese retrogaming forum about it, and the person who uploaded the pictures was a manager of kong feng in fact.
    anyway, no company can beat kong feng in China about retrogaming. I saw a similar situation ever happened, like Sachen...... lol... promising but still sucks if we talk about retrogaming market in China.
    one more thing. did you notice that you have regenerating health in Robocop? 20 lives in Bubble Bobble 2? and zero life in Tiny Toon Adventure? I doubt the games on this device are all hacked. oh, also 30 lives already in Contra.

      Dude, just shut it. I happen to find some of this stuff to be cool as hell. Certainly interesting once you already own all of the old retro consoles and want something a bit fresh.

    Crap, crap and more crap, this why you and those That sponsor clones and knockoffs, are negatively affecting the market. you present and help Ponder emotions, you are creating response, hoopla, over some BS product, No, think again, this why today you pay today, prices through the roof for OEMs!

      What? Us reviewing crap does not effect prices. Prices are high because the internals are now more complex than before.
      Anyway, I "review" junk like this because it's interesting to see what crazy ideas the Chinese come up with from time to time. Also, beleive it or not but a lot of people who watch this show actually buy these things. They want to know which ones are worth buying and which are not. Most of them are not.
