CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Jake (John Belushi) and Elwood (Dan Aykroyd) drive some Illinois Nazis off a bridge.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Expanding on their Saturday Night Live characters, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd star as Jake and Elwood Blues, two white boys with black soul. Sporting cool shades and look-alike suits, Jake and Elwood are dispatched on a "mission from God" by their former teacher, Sister Mary Stigmata (Kathleen Freeman). Said mission is to raise $5000 to save an orphanage. In the course of their zany adventures, the Blues Brothers run afoul of neo-Nazi Henry Gibson, perform the theme from Rawhide before the most unruly bar crowd in written history, and lay waste to hundreds of cars on the streets and freeways of Chicago. In case you aren't swept up in the infectuous nuttiness of the brothers Blue, you might have fun spotting film's legion of guest stars, including James Brown, Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, John Candy, Carrie Fisher, Steve Lawrence, Twiggy, Paul Reubens (aka Pee-Wee Herman), Frank Oz, and Steven Spielberg.

I love the conversation between the brothers and the one CPD officer. The officer seems frustrated! Classic!
Pretty realistic portrayal of a cop, I'd say
It's actually incredibly unrealistic.
I don't know if you've heard, but often those who work forces, are the same that burn crosses.
@@turbo3922 Because it was a real Chicago cop. Almost all the cops in the movie were real.

One of THE great moments in cinema. Love the growl of the car as Dan really floors it.
Today I am working in Chicago, so I took a short detour south of the Museum of Science and Industry to find this bridge, which still exists and looks the as it did in the movie. It's easy to find, right off Lakeshore Drive. As I approached it, I found myself saying "I hate Illinois Nazis!"
That makes for a great day, no?

You can still find some good artifacts/movie locations if you dig for them. Chez Paul, the church, the mural for Ray's Music exchange and others.
What a great movie; maybe the best for music fans.
Douglas Lippert how could it not?
You are awesome.
Then you had to give your car a little girt before flying across it at 40.

R.I.P John Belushi (1949-1982)
Belushi was only 33 when he died. That’s how old I am now!
It's painfully sad, about John Belushi. If Dan and Judy gone to The Chateau Marmont that week of March 1,1982,we'd be looking at 2 or 3 BB sequels and they would've funny and number one at the box office. There may have been struggling, but Belushi would've been saved.

You really need to! It's a classic! Never gets old!
Great introduction to classic soul and blues music.
As the others have stated this movie is a classic.
If blues brothers came out today, oh boy, there will be flamewars about this movie being "political"
Yep, I can already hear 4chan crying about this scene now, saying the Blues Brothers are "leftistjewcucktolerantwokeists" or whatever the heck they say.
Yeah, these guys are blocking the road.

There are limits to free speech

Fun fact: What the leader in this clip is saying, along with that pledge they were shouting, is almost word for word of what was said on at the beginning of the documentary "California Reich." That, combined with that the Nazis in this film are based off of the Nazis that marched in Skokie several years before this movie shows how well the film makers did their research.
You ever see the TV movie Skokie with Danny Kaye? Riveting.
they didn’t really have to do a lot of research they both lived there at the time ……
This is mainstream Republican policy now.
Irony of Ironies: Before pitching what would be Caddyshack, Harold Ramis proposed writing a dark comedy based on the events of Skokie. Since Caddyshack and The Blues Brothers were filming at the same time, how awkward it would have been if Harold instead made the Skokie film.
