  • In this video, I'll show you how to tension a new synthetic winch rope before its used for winching in a real recovery scenario, using my new Warn EVO VR-10s with sypdura synthetic line.
    It's very important that you know how to prepare a new synthetic winch rope so its ready for action out on the trails when its needed! Do not miss this very important step when you install, or have your new winch installed by a 4x4 shop.
    Also, I'll go over a couple winching tips so that you're prepared to help in a real recovery situation.
    Plus, at the end of the video, I have a really cool announcement for the channel! So, stay tuned, and watch to the end!

    Great video, I’m new to off roading and was wondering if you should mark the rope or paint the rope to show 8 to 10 wraps left?

      Thanks. You shouldn’t have to do that. It’s just good practice to keep in mind. You should also be able to see the drum in most instances.

    Glad to see you got your winch replaced. It was a tough day for sure out at Beasley Knob. Nice meeting you and glad we could help.

    IS it better to have the synthetic rope over cable? I have been debating to switching over. Seems that synthetic would be easier to handle and work with.

      I’m sure people have different reasons for either, but personally, I prefer the synthetic line. It greatly reduces the weight and eliminates a lot of the risk/danger during a recovery scenario.

    Is this just for new ropes? After using it on the trail should you perform the exact same pre-tensioning or is it enough to use body weight while wrapping the line neatly back on to the drum?

      It’s always a good idea to respool your line after heavy use, especially in muddy/dusty conditions. It’s not something you have to do every time, but if you pull line more than 50% of your total line length, I’d consider it.

    Your original line should be pre tension from warn factory right?

      Usually no. Most manufacturers recommend spoiling the line as part of initial installation. However, it’s a good idea to know how to respool or install a replacement line.

    During rewraping are you doing short duration even when it's not under load?

    • @ADVENTURUSS
      @ADVENTURUSS  2 роки тому

      No sir. When you do the rewrap, or initial setup you should be under load for the majority of the time. The short bits are only to prevent the drum from heating up too much. Once you get to the last 10-15 ft you're good.

    $900 winch!

      Even if I did pay that (I didn’t) it’d still
      Be worth it when your much more expensive vehicle is stuck… and having the ability to help others on the trail
