So brilliantly underplayed and hypnotic. It reminds me of Berg's violin concerto. Quiet and restrained, yet the power builds underneath. This is truly fantastic.
Bacewicz was having very mixed feelings about this concerto that she wished for this piece to be performed for the first time ar least 50 years after her death.
@coolusername9412 What, did she think it was like a fine wine and would develop greater quality and complexity if stored for a few decades or something? Sorry, I don't get it.
An interesting work, beautifully and skillfully played. It's refreshing to hear music from composers who are unknown or little known to many of us. [Dating from 1957; isn't that around the time this concert-hall opened? ] I look forward to hearing more from this project promoting Polish composers.
A wonderful concerto! So grateful this work was finally performed and shared. Interesting that she worked in some of the last movement material into her later Viola Concerto.
Just from the first 5 minutes I can already tell that the soloist is a wonderful violinist! And it's great to hear more of Bacewicz's music as always

It confounds me that this piece was unperformed and unpublished for 60+ years (anyone know why?). It's terrific (as are ALL the violin concertos).
