My choice on France Musique is Fabien Gabel. He is brilliant and fabulous. Everyone has their own timbres and voices. I wish you good music listening suite. *Lucien*
Hilary is nowadays taking bigger risks about dynamics and intensive, almost harsh playing, combinened with exquisite lyricisms. Thats why I love her playing in this consert. She has matured wonderfully regarding this music. From perfect to even better.
Knowing she can also RIP this piece like a metronome (in other recordings) almost, yes I dare say at Haifetz level, makes this interpretation even more welcome.
Totally agree. When I would love to see her 'attack' Shosta's Violin Concerto no. 1 now (the version when she was 21 lacks some of the aggression I think she would add to it now)
Best version of Hilary Hahn playing Brahms! Her playing matured so nicely: longer phrasing, fearless strokes, unstoppable intensity, powerful projection. Packed with emotion. Technicality at the best serve of the dynamics. Without mentioning the impeccable intonation... I am so glad this video is available, not being able to make to the concert.
Very true. I've admittedly never been a huge fan of Hilary's playing, although her technical prowess cannot be denied. That said, she's ascended to another level recently and I do love her playing now.
It's not just the perfect intonation, tonal quality, musicality and projection. Just look at her hands to realise that even more than before she has perfected the art of making a beautiful sound with the minimum effort. Any aspiring violinists could watch this for hours to pick up tips about how to get the most exquisite vibrato with such economy of movement. And that's just her left hand. Look at the bow arm to see such mastery of bow control, projection and articulation. She is still up there with the greatest of all time.
I see many comments under this video that “something which was already perfect became even better”. Indeed Hilary has always been one of the most preeminent violinists of our times, but she has always continued to grow. And that’s actually unique: when a child prodigy becomes a really Great Musician after >30 years of continuous fame. Honestly I don’t know any other examples of such a resistance towards fame temptation in the present times: several Hilary’s colleagues, also very gifted musicians by nature, swirled in the whirlpool of popularity and did not reach the level of true greatness. But Hilary… having gotten 3 Grammy awards (!!!) and lots of other prizes and “recognition symbols”, having made recordings of almost complete violin repertoire with the best orchestras and best studios in the whole world, always hearing rave reviews of her genius and crowds of fans as if she was a pop/rock star and/or a Hollywood star, having given birth to two daughters in a marriage with her husband and looking now stunningly beautiful, like 25-27 years old (max)… and she’s playing now at completely different level in comparison even with herself 15-20 years ago. I even read in those days that she was called a genius, “the Menuhin and Stern of our day”, etc., but then I could not fully agree with this, to be honest. She was obviously great, but it would be difficult for me then to call her a genius. And now, after this rendition of Brahms, a truly grandiose discovery has happened to me: Hilary Hahn IS indeed one of the greatest musicians of all times. She’s not a child prodigy any more… she’s not the one with purest and most beautiful violin tone any more… she’s not a phenomenal and preeminent master of violin any more… she’s a truly Great violinist and Great Musician, because in her playing one can feel the breath of eternity and immortality. Now it became obvious to me that she is one of those people on whom our fragile world actually rests. THANK YOU! ❤
Where there is dexterity, the maturity is put in quotes. The particularity of Hilary Hahn is her crystalline game which becomes unstoppable. It's his trademark and therefore the weight of the years will not change anything. This register of Brahms is not his best performance but the one from 2014 with Paavo Järvi on Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra Channel hr-Sinfonieorchester. Listen carefully to the interpretation of the Adagio which is immeasurably limpidity. We do not deceive the listeners with nearly 8 million. The reference is probably here ! *Lucien*

It is truly humbling to witness the very heights of humanity. Makes me tear up just realizing how good this was...
I. Allegro non troppo 00:00
II. Adagio 24:40
III. Allegro giocoso, ma non troppo vivace 34:01
Thank you.
Merci beaucoup !!!!
Excellent and sublime. I just bought two of her recordings on CD recently. I could not imagine living in a world without classical music, orchestras, musical instruments, and great performers. And of course composers of music too!
Wow. I love love love Hahn's playing.
ME TOO!!!
A huge BRAVO!
Great Hilary She play feeling AWESOME Brahms ❤❤❤
Hilary Hahn Sibelius with this orchestra and Mikko Franck is my favorite recording ever and this just just as sublime. Thank you to everyone involved for creating such great music and making it available to all. Bravo!
@@LucienMarine Hilary Hahn has a unique sound that no other violinist can replicate her attack and crisp tone is what I love. I also love her artistic choices. For me, Janine comes nowhere close to Hilary's recent recordings. It's really all just preference at a point. I could find an article that says the same about Hilary she's just as famous if not more due to social media and works with the same conductors
Next year Sibelius at Mauson de la radio with them !!
@@hortenseveronique9961 sadly I live in America 😅. But I saw her play Sibelius in January. Best experience ever!
I don't like this conductor at all: Mikko Frank! This is the Achilles heel in the execution of this piece. His orchestration is clumsy and somber. Luckily, Hilary Hahn is here! Our best French conductor is Fabien Gabel. With Gabel, it's energy and flamboyance. Richard Strauss: Une Symphonie alpestre, Op. 64 : ua-cam.com/video/XbiPrMLIriQ/v-deo.html by Fabien Gabel. Fabulous! *Lucien*
@@TacticalStrike I wish the Charleston Symphony would ask her to play here in Charleston, SC. I have not heard her play live since she was a child of 14, in Baltimore, MD. In a fourth of July concert at a park in Baltimore County for free with the Baltimore Symphony conducted by David Zinman. I am now 82.
Wow! She has absolute and total control over that instrument. Very rare to see.
And a joy to experience!
As always when Hilary is playing, it is almost like watching a small ballet combined with her wonderful playing. Her perhaps unconscious small moves on stages contributes to my experience of this music as a whole. Music is in some way a movement from one place to another, and in this she has my full admiration.
There is a definite chemistry between Hilary and Mikko and I believe they bring out the best in each other. Mikko's glowing face and Hilary crushing it... they go together. So much fun! Thank you!
Merci beaucoup!
Seid innig gegrüßt, Ihr alle, Ihr guten Musiker.
Stimme Ich eigentlich zu! The orchestra really plays a bit shallow. But Hilary is doing an amazing job in my opinion. Among all her interpretations of this concert this one is the best for me.
The orchestra, the conductor, Hahn -making magic.
I have not mentioned this orchestra but we all know that they always are playing at their top. The support they give Hilary Hahn in this is essential for our experience of this work. One of this worlds best orchestras. So thank you for during so many years bringing the best music to us, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France!
Beautiful. Hilary just exudes confidence and energy, and the exchange between all of the performers and the conductor is electrifying.
Yes you are right, exchange in the small, without making it the main issue. Just a confidence among all participants.
Hilary is back!
I hear new additions to the concerto oh they are amazing Hilary!!!!!!
Iconic performance!! Such rapport between Hahn, Franck, and the orchestra. Beautiful beautiful beautiful. Like chamber music.
Thku so much. I can’t express what it has meant to me ❤
Hilary Hahn playing Brahms - it just doesn't get any better. Thanks for sharing this beautiful performance.
Bravo, Bravo ❤
Thank you for sharing 🎉🎉🎉
Hillary Hahn
my all time idol
she plays Brahms like he probably heard it in his head
just the cadenza we went from Beethoven to Bach what a phenomenal performer
Simply one of the greatest works ever composed, exquisitely performed.
Que maravilla !!! Que linda es la música. Que interprete! Wow. Gracias Hillary! Te amo❤
Absolutely phenomenal. Hilary Hahn is one of the greatest violinists. Excellent orchestra. Bravo, Maestro Franck.
Hilary Hahn with Mikko Franck is iconic.
Simply stunning performance by all. Hilary's violin playing is the magnificent heartbeat of this Braum's symphony. Bravo...
An International Gold Standard performance of a dense & complex violin concerto.
Wonderful performance by Hilary and the orchestra, BRAVO!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Hilary the world 🌍
adores you !!!!
Hilary looking like this magical musical gypsy faerie and I'm totally here for it.
J'y ai été il y a deux semaines !
C'était un concert juste magique !
Quelle fabuleuse Hilary !
Okay ❤okay Hilary you are the female Jacha Heifetz! Thankyou. God gifted fiddler!! I’ve listened to all of these concertos over and over with attempting to play this whole concerto you have now given me the largest gift to listen so I can get this right. One day sooner rather then later I pray!! I want to make my violin 🎻 sound just like this flourless and god gifted.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤more please . 🎉
This music so Beauty Tears coming but only Joy
The violin intro in the first movement had me in tears. That's when I knew... Then came the Cadenza. About 4 seconds into it, 2 beautiful Sparrows came flying into my room! It would seem they too enjoyed the exhilarating and gorgeously moving performance by Hilary Hahn's rendition of the Brahms Violin Concerto! And to the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France directed by Mikko Franck, well done indeed!
Perhaps even sparrows like Brahms? We have no idea what they really like.
@@staffanolofsson8201 Haha! I wouldn't be surprised if they do like Brahms. In truth, I used the sparrows as a metaphor to describe how I feel about Hilary Hahn's magnificent performance. I'm quite sure it was the high pitched sounds of the violin which drew their attention.
Oh Hilary?❤??!!!!!! The double notes oh my oh my are no words to thank you 🙏 ❤
Amazing!👍👍👍 This is my favourite interpretation of this concerto!
Wow! Such a stirring and inspiring performance! Hilary Hahn's incredible poise, piercing focus, clarity of sound, warmth of interpretation.... Brought tears to my eyes! It's been a long time since I've stayed up too late because I got sooo drawn into watching violin videos. I wanted to just watch a few minutes of this, and had to watch all the way to the end. Riveting! This is what music is all about. So excited to keep practicing my violin! :) Thank you to every single person who made this possible!
Gosh Hilary, you're
so good and fun
to watch. ❤
Hilary Hahn is famous, but i was also surprised Radio France. Mikko Franck gives them it's own sound.
Magnifique ❤
Oh, Hilary, you beautiful creature, you've done it again! What a gorgeous rendition!
And that dress is stunning.
oh quelle chance!
Takes your breath away doesn't it. Actually forces the emotion out of you whether you like it or not. Staggering.
Merci pour votre cadeau musicale comme toujours.
Vive la France Musique !
une admirable pièce de musique !
I could listen to her all day. Too bad I gotta work.
Spicatto from orchestra is just a treat to hear ❤they are each note is perfectly plucked in time. Sounds absolutely beautiful 🤩
Comment coming from someone who knows little to nothing about being a classical musician but has dabbled in music and choir. I get hyper focused on random things on UA-cam (latest being violin videos) and so far i feel this she is by far the best at this 1st movement I’ve come across after watching many people do it
For all of you who are specially fond of Hilarys "Little Finger Vibrato" this is magic. And I know there are lots of you out there just waiting for Hilary to use her little finger. Now is your time.
0:02 - First Movement
24:42- Second Movement
34:02- Third Movement
Hilary Hahn just knocks it out of the park EVERYTIME. Such drive to the strings and fluidity in her arpeggio's. Nuance is what she IS.
Simply the version of this violin concerto of Brahms that I have heard/listened to.
0:00 1st movement
18:29 cadenza
24:42 2nd movement
34:03 3rd movement
Thanks for the cadenza!
4:00 One happy musician lol
Super! Guzel! Kalbim titriyor dinledikce! Gozler yasariyor!
Oh can listen over and over and over again and again Thankyou so much !!!! For the gift 💝 to be able to hear such beauty ❤Thankyou to you all on stage this one will go on forever.
Wow! I haven't heard her in a while and didn't pay attention to what I was clicking on. My first thought was- "Who is that? It sounds like Hillary Hahn only better!" Blown away by how she keeps maturing over the years!
She looks like a goddess in this dress 🥰❤️🔥 yes mother!!!
Sublime rendition , Hilary and the orchestra .
How does Hilary Hahn manage to perfect herself each time? like...how? The only regret is that I wasn't there in person!
