  • Camping, kayaking and biking at June Lake with it's beautiful clear water set against the rugged terrain of the eastern Sierra. Also, visiting the other lakes on California Highway 158, the June Lake Loop. Includes visiting nearby Mono Lake and viewing the stark beauty of the limestone Tufa towers.

    Good overall summary of the June Lakes area. Great recreational area and, above all for many of us, incredible fishing. But there are ample hiking, backpacking, and backcountry fishing adventures there as well.

    Great video! I lived in June Lake for a year and a half while on a construction job. Way back in 2001. I need to revisit the place.

    Nice video! You have a great voice for narration. I've camped at Silver Lake several times in my truck camper. Since I love the Eastern Sierra, I just subscribed to your channel. Safe travels!

    June Lake camp seemed not as solar friendly as I wanted, so I choose Oh! Ridge. Too each his/her own.

      Yes, many of the June Lake Campground sites have more trees and shade while the Oh Ridge Campground is more open with more sun. On a warm day it is a trade off of privacy and cool shade vs sun and solar recharge of your batteries. Even with the shade at June Lake, I got enough solar to recharge my van batteries. Oh Ridge also has a larger beach. It is great to have such nice options.

    great video but did you experience nats and mosquitos at the site? for your viewers out there, a few hints in camping with bugs, i use LAVENDER SCENTED DRYER SHEETS, hung around the tent or truck , or rv, bugs hate lavender scent, also, for nats, SAGE AFTER YOUR DONE BBQ;ING OR GRILLING SOMETHING? even pine cones in the fire , theoil of the pine cones is a great fire starter, and let it smoke your bugs away, i always carry a small CEDARWOOD PLANT WITH ME, where ever i go, CEDARWOOD even keeps snakes , ants, small animals away, remember to water when out of the truck and let the scent of the plant do its work?

      Thanks for the suggestions. We had relatively few mosquitos at our camping site, but there were a few mosquitos in the evening. After a winter with lots of snow resulting in a wet spring, there were probably more mosquitos than usual. But by late July when I visited the lake, mosquitoes did not seem to be a big problem at our campsite. Mosquitoes are not very strong fliers and don't tend to travel very far. So there may have been more mosquitoes at other locations around the lake.

      Throughout the Eastern Sierra nats and mosquitoes can be an issue. If this is a great concern the area is not for you. NO guarantees issued.

    Did you like campsite 1? I noticed it was at the entrance so was wondering if it had a lot of traffic and road noise.

      Yes I did like site 1. The site has lots of tall trees and has good shade during much of the day. Also the trees and shrubs offer a little more privacy than many of the sites.

    Enjoyable video. Just a grammar correction. Sierra Nevada is already plural in its meaning. Saying “Sierras” is like saying Mices or Geeses. The proper way to refer to the Sierra Nevada Mountain range is just to say Sierra.

    Is this camp ground big enough for class A 40ft motorhomes??? Are the campsites big enough to accommodate????

    • @northwestcampervantravels7248
      @northwestcampervantravels7248  11 місяців тому

      At least one of the campsites would be big enough for a 40 foot motorhome. We were in site 01, and it has a very long parking space. I am not sure if any of the other sites would be big enough, perhaps not.
