@@fgarcia2277Always speaking facts my friend! Couldn't agree more!! Very well said! @@DoRC I am liking it better than the Mojave in fact. Less overheating and faster. At least the one I got is hitting 60 mph with stock gearing in limited space. Powerhouse of a truck. I am typically someone who likes Arrmas better but very much like this release.

Exactly what I was concerned about.... Maxx platform, Maxx Handling like a brick so no surprise.... Senton, Mojave 4s and 6s handling is far superior from what I can see. With the Maxx platform design language... Guess you can have too much of a good thing. Traxxas comes up with the Xmaxx years ago, Maxx follows that design language, and now the XTR, Maxx Slash etc.... Looking like there a one trick pony? Yeah the 4s Mojave is hard to beat for the price. I had the exact same fears with this truck being on the Max platform. I hoped that they could squash out the max handling but I think whatever they were able to tune out kind of creeps back in based on the inherent disadvantages of the short course truck style.
Thanks for the honesty! It’s great to see, considering how other channels who got their trucks for free always talk up the greatness of a truck and never really tell the truth! I counted 8 roll overs and that wasn’t even during the jumps!
I appreciate your honesty, I really think this thing should have been 599. Just a bit more over the maxx. Looking forward to what you have coming for it. The mojave seems to be better value at this point.
One of the reasons i like arrma so much better is because of how they give us options like the exb roller and rtr versions. Had this come in a roller version for like $499 i might be interested. I just don't see the fascination with this. A 6s mojave is soo much better of an option. Its super tough, handles great and is cheaper. Heck the 4s mojave is even a much better option considering the value for money. Typical traxxas where they could care less about giving their die hard fans any sort of value or deal and thats why i refuse to give them my hard earned money. I'll give it to any company but them tbh
I like the honest review. As a Traxxas fan i will need a minute to regain my composure. I have a Slash ultimate and Im considering getting one of these.
I think it just depends on what your goals are. I prefer the 4S cuz it's smaller lighter and easier to move around Plus it's a lot cheaper. The 6s is an awesome truck though.
If there is anyone I trust, it’s this man right here!! I really wanted one of these right here. It was between this and the xmax. I guess it’s not really a good release. Thank you
Thanks for speaking to the handling. On video it looks pretty rough, and we also prefer to run without digital steering assist. I'd be interested to see if a Traxxas truck could be made to handle on par with the Mojave. Is it the shocks? The arms? All over my head, be neat to see it run well.
Honestly I'm not entirely certain what the problem is. I do know that the max has a very similar feel to it and I think it's a fundamental design problem. With the max it's not that big of a deal because the max is a stunt truck but it feels a little less acceptable on this truck. Don't get me wrong it handles okay but with out stability management it's a handful.
Excellent honest review. At that price point, and considering both Mohaves handle better and are less expensive, I'd say its a failed attempt by Traxxas to dethrone Arrma. I think if they knocked $100 off the Maxx Slash, they'd be more competitive with it. But, Traxxas has a solid fan base so they'll sell like hot cakes lol
There's nothing wrong with that and it's not like you're going to be angry if you buy one. It's a fun car and if the mojave's didn't exist it would be something I would easily recommend even given its flaws but they do exist so....
You nailed it with this vid dude. Everyone seems to be comparing this thing to the Arrma Mojaves and honestly, as the owner of both Mojaves, watching these videos, I'm not impressed. Yeah, it's Maxx tough, but that's about it. The 4S Mojave is just as tough, almost as fast, handles WAY better, and costs $200 less. I don't see a reason for anyone to buy this truck unless they're a mindless fanboy. And as for the 6S Mojave, I think the Maxx Slash is absolutely tougher, but that's about it.. It also looks like it's quite the hassle to work on as well.. another reason the Mojave 4S is so great is it's so easy and simple to work with. Idk man. I was really excited about this truck but it just seems disappointing
I'm not sure I would go so far as to say disappointing but I think underwhelming is a good way to describe it. It's cool but at least in my experience it doesn't do anything that the mojave's don't and it costs more.
Your review sounds realistic. Great video . I like traxxas and arrma . And i could say the price point alone is terrible . They should get into competitive pricing
Good review Do Rc. I am new to your chanel and I am sure that it will grow up fast! I use my Rc on a Bmx track and on my Maxx v2 the chassis slap on landing is very annoying. I suppose this issue is not solve with a lcg frame and small tire diameter?
The Max chassis slap is pretty severe though it also is very loud just dude the way the body hits the chassis and acts like a microphone when it hits the ground. You can use VG racing springs and a little bit thicker oil though you run into handling issues if you go too crazy with that. Ultimately though all RCs chassis slap the max is just really loud
Affiliate, non affiliate, sponsored or not idc. I love how you still take apart every car and let others decide if it's worth it but still analyze the positves and negatives im glad theyre finally upgrading a few things. Maybe this will be more appealing next year when the price drops though
Great video. Traxxas in my opinion could've done so much more better especially with the price. I would definitely buy the sledge, e-revo 2.0, XRT and UDR, but everything else just doesn't even seem to be worth the price tag. Even the e-revo 2.0 is something more of "I want to buy it because of the unique experience" and not because of its durability. Traxxas should really step up their game if they don't want to swallowed by other competitors in the next 10 years or so.
Yeah this thing would have had to have been amazing in order to be able to easily justify its price. It's fine but I don't think amazing is how I would describe it.
I think that people who buy this won't be upset with their purchase. It's a fun truck and I'm sure with TSM it is manageable but I always run my stuff without gyros because I don't think that electronic assistance should be used as a replacement for proper design.
As an owner of both, the Mojave 6s beats the Maxx Slash hands down. This does not mean the MS isn't a good RC but the Traxxas premium price is still and always a kick in the nuts.
I've owned this as well as the 4S and 6s mojave's and to be honest other than being a little bit bigger I don't really even see this as being better than the 4S Mojave.
I agree with you I got a lot of hate on my video told I cant drive lol I was just honest it flips over way to easily its a lcg desert truck it should run flat out fine the ass end get thrown in the air the servo saver is way to weak for those heavy tires I am disappointed it looks great but why no inner cover like the Mojave to keep it from scooping up so much dirt? Why not use the better servo they sell? I dont see how that is a shock extender it looks like it takes away travel. I love the way it looks I like ground running and I have several Traxxas cars I love but this one let me down,
Yeah this is far from the best handling car and there are other similar vehicles out there that prove that handling can be better with a similar platform. I also think that a $700 car should not have a plastic geared servo. The extenders don't decrease or increase travel they just change where the travel is. The extra down travel is traded off for reduced up travel
I think they missed the mark on price for this one. If it was based on the sledge platform I could understand the $700 price. But then again I always think Traxxas is overpriced 😂 Gonna be hard to justify this over the Mojave 6s
Traxxas cars are designed to work with tsm. They label it everywhere. Their tires are “TSM Rated” whatever that means. Unless you tune them they handle like bricks.
Best first look and run so far 👌, unfortunately as with most traxxas cars, here in the uk its £740, well over $900, to procey for me 😳 shame as i do think this is a really nice rig 😁
No. It's not really something I'm interested in or really recommend as you can build a better X-Max for a similar price and it's not different enough from the current X-Max for me to really want to get into it.
Drop in widemaxx arms and steel drive shafts, hw max 6 g2 w/ 1650kv, vitavon motor mount, GPM gear box for Maxx, gear up however you want. Maybe ERevo body, could be a mini XRT.
@@DoRC Okay, so it's not available for purchase as I assumed thanks for the video. I always enjoy your content. I tried to ask Jaytee RC the same question and he just ignored my comments. Keep up the great content.
I thought the max upgraded differential only used steel washers though I could be wrong. Still makes me wonder why they made new part numbers for this then. Why didn't they just use that already existing piece?
My favorite car to bash this year is the 4s Mojave. The Maxx Slash so far for me is on par with a touch more power than the Mojave. In my yard. I'll get both back out tomorrow to try other surfaces other than well groomed but thick grass, Time for some sand. And a Freshpark.
@@DoRC I'm guessing the terrain. Both rigs have tiny tires. Let's try the ramp on flat sugar sand tomorrow. Something you can hit the ramp at 35 or so. I know the Mojave does that extremely well.
This appeared to have limited body roll and suspension travel compared to other vehicles in its class. Does it behave like a desert truck / short course truck, or is this more like a common truggy with a SCT body?
No this definitely behaves like a short course truck just not one that handles super well. The weight distribution of the body and its length to width ratio really sets that handling feel.
Belted tires and lcg chassies will always suck. The way it skips across the ground is annoying just by an xmaxx can't believe traxxas would release this
I don't really think that either one of those specifically are causing problems. You don't really need ballooning on a short course truck or desert truck and there are plenty of really good vehicles out there with LCG style chassis. The 4S Mojave is very similar in design and it does a lot better than this.
Price should be $639-669max...I still want one tho...Definitely can outbash a mojave, no aluminum chassis to bend...😂 Local hobby shop let me rip one. I couldnt disagree more on most everything except price... it didnt feel top heavy at all, tires hooked up good....
I am curious if the longer maxx v2 arms fit on the maxx slash to make it wider. If you then added bigger wheels and another body it could be an maxx rustler or an RT ( an small XRT)
I just ordered my slash maxed type Traxxas short course thing , I'll be watching you for some of the fall out on this thing ,interesting platform , thought ide give it a try , ide like to see you put some hex exstentions on it first off , Traxxas ,,,, WOW , why even bother with that stupid servo ,trash , mediately ,,,, enter,,,, perfect pass !! 👍👍💪💪
As usual high traxxas price tag and it still comes with a plastic servo and the crap esc. No brainer definitely go with the arrma Mojave instead way more durable and better bang for your cash!
I agree about the servo and maybe the ESC though I'm not sure I agree and durability. The Mojave is very durable but the Max platform is also extremely tough.
Can you turn it into a 1/10th 6s XRT 🤔. In my opinion Traxxas vehicles are for beginners. They definitely can take a beating. Arrma vehicles are for the more experienced RC enthusiast. They're definitely more performance orientated but are a little more fragile, if you don't know what you're doing. Just my opinion. That being said I own several traxxas vehicles and only a few arrmas. I get a different feeling when I drive my Arrmas, more alert & conscientious about what I'm doing. When I drive my Traxxas I want to see how much abuse it'll take.🤷
I have a hard time agreeing with that. The Mojave 4S is a little bit smaller, similarly featured, hundreds of dollars cheaper and in my experience handles better.
Exactly how did it kill the 4s Mojave? I have both 4 and 6s Mojaves and nothing in this video made me want this truck. If anything it made me appreciate how well both handle rough terrain and jump so well. It's OK to prefer a brand and even convince yourself something is better but you gotta have facts to convince anyone else.
Honestly it handles a little worse in some cases. It doesn't have a ton of suspension travel combined with the small tires mean is actually gets high centered and stuck. I can't remember the last time I simply got stuck with one of my RC cars out there. It happened twice with this one. It's also both top heavy and that weight is carried wide so it rolls like crazy. Of course some of this is just going to be inherent in the short course truck design but it's pretty intense.
Great video! The 4s and 6s Mojave are beasts compared to this overpriced paperweight. I was hoping for more. Thanks as always and keep on telling it how it is.
I think the original Slash was kind of both but this feels primarily like a basher. It's really not set up for any kind of tunability and I don't even think it would fit in any specific SCT class.
@@DoRC so it’s a sheep in wolf’s clothing? Not really a racer, and not a great basher. I was hoping this would be good for my daughter instead of a XRT or a Kraton. She races a vxl slash now.
@@TheFatAssCat I agree that it probably is the strongest short course truck but like the max it's based on it doesn't handle super well. I mean it's not terrible but when you compare it to something like a 4S or 6s Mojave it's really not up to par. Part of it's the tires but I think a big part of it's just the max DNA that's in there
I definitely see the potential 10/10 more i bashbthe more I appreciate a lighter vehicle. If it lighter than my scorched carbonfiber Mojave Im gonna buy one and mod the s out of it. Ya know
The real problem is the price. Let's say someone buy it, they start to see some problems they don't like, aren't handling, top heavy and fans are not there. That person starts to see others rc have better prices and have the same durability. Well, when the sales go down is you will feel they stealth money from you. I prefer to stay with Arrma last year. It was literally the best year for Arrma launching huge bombs against Traxxas. Traxxas is starting to lose that spark

I agree. I think that it's time for them to come up with a new controller.
Affiliate, non affiliate, sponsored or not idc. I love how you still take apart every car and let others decide if it's worth it but still analyze the positves and negatives im glad theyre finally upgrading a few things. Maybe this will be more appealing next year when the price drops though
Glad you enjoy and rest assured I pay full price for pretty much everything on this channel
Low cg for Traxxas is still high cg compared to other manufactures.
Yeah I don't know what it is but that maxx DNA is still in there. It's fun but at this time Im not really seeing why you would buy it over a Mojave.
Only a minute into the video, not a big Traxxas fan, but that body looks awesome.
It is a good looking body
Great video. Traxxas in my opinion could've done so much more better especially with the price. I would definitely buy the sledge, e-revo 2.0, XRT and UDR, but everything else just doesn't even seem to be worth the price tag. Even the e-revo 2.0 is something more of "I want to buy it because of the unique experience" and not because of its durability. Traxxas should really step up their game if they don't want to swallowed by other competitors in the next 10 years or so.
This is a good car and I bet it's going to be one of if not the most durable SCT you can buy but for the price I feel like it needs more than that.
Great video...and i called it way before this video was released...ARRMA Mojave 4s & 6s is where you must be🫡😬
Yeah this thing would have had to have been amazing in order to be able to easily justify its price. It's fine but I don't think amazing is how I would describe it.
Oh i bet you have got plans for that LCG chassis 😆 🤣
I see a MaxxXrt in your future 😉
Shhh
Thx brother great video.
Thanks for watching!
Kral mojeve❤❤❤
......maxx slahs 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for watching :-)
Try putting the wide MAXX kit, hub extensions and bigger tires. Should handle like a mini XRT.
Hmmm:)
Finnaly a honest opinion right on my dude traxxas fan sad rn 😅
Extremely Honest opinion, great job,Blessings my friend 🙏👍🤝
Thanks Glad you enjoyed!
Thanks for being honest about his review… as cool as it looks I don’t think this is the greatest truck
You're welcome. I'm still looking forward to doing some upgrades and few other things on this though. Stay tuned!
I think they missed the mark on price for this one. If it was based on the sledge platform I could understand the $700 price. But then again I always think Traxxas is overpriced 😂 Gonna be hard to justify this over the Mojave 6s
Even harder to justify over the Mojave 4S. That little car is a tank and it's not that much smaller than the max slash
Traxxas cars are designed to work with tsm. They label it everywhere. Their tires are “TSM Rated” whatever that means. Unless you tune them they handle like bricks.
Yeah maybe but I don't run gyros on anything and I feel like "designed to work with TSM" Is synonymous with "doesn't work"
Yoooo nice
What do you think of my opinion of it?
@@DoRC I agree with you, im kinda worried about the steering lol because ive had some close calls before with the ultimate slash
Best first look and run so far 👌, unfortunately as with most traxxas cars, here in the uk its £740, well over $900, to procey for me 😳 shame as i do think this is a really nice rig 😁
Yeah it's a really good looking truck and very durable it's just a lot of money.
@@DoRC yeah the mojave 4s is nearly half the price here in the uk 😬
Awesome review. Are you going to do a review for the XMAXX Ultimate? I'm thinking I'd rather plunk down even more serious cash for it instead.
No. It's not really something I'm interested in or really recommend as you can build a better X-Max for a similar price and it's not different enough from the current X-Max for me to really want to get into it.
@@DoRCSee! I really appreciate your thinking man. Great advice, seriously.
Could you do one on the new ford “updated” rally? And amazing video breaking this thing down love the honest review
If I get one I'd be happy to do that I'm just not sure I'm going to end up getting one.
No worries look forward to seeing more videos 🥂
This thing is $1000 here in Canada. Um... yea.. no. I'll stick with my K6V5. Good video, thanks!
Yeah that's a lot of money.
Great job sir
Glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching :-)
Oh yeah ! Here we go !
Yep!
Drop in widemaxx arms and steel drive shafts, hw max 6 g2 w/ 1650kv, vitavon motor mount, GPM gear box for Maxx, gear up however you want. Maybe ERevo body, could be a mini XRT.
Stay tuned :-)
@@DoRCI’m tuning 😁
So pay more to upgrade an already overpriced truck? Ah yes, the Traxxas' way lol
Where were you able to buy it? Neither of my local hobby stores had them available.
That's classified :-)
@@DoRC Okay, so it's not available for purchase as I assumed thanks for the video. I always enjoy your content. I tried to ask Jaytee RC the same question and he just ignored my comments. Keep up the great content.
@@1986alexpotter yeah I'll never ignore your comments but That's not something I can disclose at the moment.
I mean, the erevo center diff/maxx upgrade diff both use the metal shims/spacers
I thought the max upgraded differential only used steel washers though I could be wrong. Still makes me wonder why they made new part numbers for this then. Why didn't they just use that already existing piece?
I want to see it do 70mph.
I'm going to try but I'm not sure it's going to do it.
My favorite car to bash this year is the 4s Mojave. The Maxx Slash so far for me is on par with a touch more power than the Mojave. In my yard. I'll get both back out tomorrow to try other surfaces other than well groomed but thick grass, Time for some sand. And a Freshpark.
I'm surprised that you consider them to be on par with each other. The Mojave handles so much better in my opinion.
@@DoRC I'm guessing the terrain. Both rigs have tiny tires. Let's try the ramp on flat sugar sand tomorrow. Something you can hit the ramp at 35 or so. I know the Mojave does that extremely well.
@@AllInRc1971 it's coming :-)
Good review buddy. When are you going to giveaway that power screwdriver??
Soon. I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to do the giveaway but I actually have a couple I need to do.
@@DoRC oh okay I understand people get busy at the time. And cool
This appeared to have limited body roll and suspension travel compared to other vehicles in its class. Does it behave like a desert truck / short course truck, or is this more like a common truggy with a SCT body?
No this definitely behaves like a short course truck just not one that handles super well. The weight distribution of the body and its length to width ratio really sets that handling feel.
i guess it's time to throw some wider a-arms and some prolines on. let's gitterdun!
Stay tuned :-)
Is there any desert in your area? Would be great to see it running on paddles in some soft sand! Comparing both 4s & 6s batteries!😁
Unfortunately no. I'm about as far from the desert as you can get
It's a nice truck, but Mojave Killer? 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Did you watch to the end of the video? I don't think it is either
@@DoRC I did. It's a good video. I was just commenting on the thumbnail.
The mojave flows over rough terrain however the maxx slash seems to plow through it
Yeah unfortunately that same max DNA is still in this truck and that's pretty much how the max drives too.
Central aluminium driveshaft part number is #10255. Missing in exploded view but available on the parts list.
Awesome thank you!
Put it up against the king mojave 6s ....
Honestly I think either Mojave will be better than this. Especially when you factor in cost.
2024 traxxas needs to step it up this is unacceptable its not even the size of the mojave
Well it's bigger than the 4S Mojave
What surface were you bashing on and did you have TSM on or off?
You think mojave tires would fit ? Without rubbing the a-arms and turnbuckles ? Thank you
I'm not sure. You might want to ask in one of the Facebook groups as I'm sure people have tried it already.
Comparison video between the mojaves! (If u have a 6s mojave)
Unfortunately I don't at this time.
I am curious if the longer maxx v2 arms fit on the maxx slash to make it wider. If you then added bigger wheels and another body it could be an maxx rustler or an RT ( an small XRT)
Maybe :-)
I want to see it go 70 like they say it does.
Wasn't able to get mine to do it but I'm sure someone will
I wonder if it is possible to lengthen my Maxx V2 with just a couple parts from this one.
It would take several parts and you'd have to figure out a different body but I think it's doable.
No way.
Seems that way.
I've taken out all the same screws you have taken out and I still can't access my rear diff I have to know what gear I broke! 😭
Were you not able to get the rear module out?
I think you should leave the driveshafts on until they break. Can't test their strength if they're not on it.
Not a bad idea. I am going to be doing a bunch of upgrades though so I might end up putting the stock ones back on for long-term testing.
This costs as much as a 6s bigrock... Think about that for a minute
Yeah it's definitely not cheap.
And the 6s Kraton EXB
I just ordered my slash maxed type Traxxas short course thing , I'll be watching you for some of the fall out on this thing ,interesting platform , thought ide give it a try , ide like to see you put some hex exstentions on it first off , Traxxas ,,,, WOW , why even bother with that stupid servo ,trash , mediately ,,,, enter,,,, perfect pass !! 👍👍💪💪
I don't think you'll be upset with the purchase. It's a pretty fun car. It just doesn't represent any real value benefit over the Mojaves
@@DoRC I have the Mohave also , thats what I got it for , racing side by side on our track , should be cool , I'm widening it right off
As usual high traxxas price tag and it still comes with a plastic servo and the crap esc. No brainer definitely go with the arrma Mojave instead way more durable and better bang for your cash!
I agree about the servo and maybe the ESC though I'm not sure I agree and durability. The Mojave is very durable but the Max platform is also extremely tough.
yeah idk this or the Mojave im gonna have to go Mojave
Mojave is what I would recommend
Can you turn it into a 1/10th 6s XRT 🤔. In my opinion Traxxas vehicles are for beginners. They definitely can take a beating. Arrma vehicles are for the more experienced RC enthusiast. They're definitely more performance orientated but are a little more fragile, if you don't know what you're doing. Just my opinion. That being said I own several traxxas vehicles and only a few arrmas. I get a different feeling when I drive my Arrmas, more alert & conscientious about what I'm doing. When I drive my Traxxas I want to see how much abuse it'll take.🤷
Maybe:)
Only honest review we'll see besides Morehead or garage guy.
Glad you enjoy! I try to be as unbiased as possible though we all have some bias.
Maybe where the arms are different is because they are planning to sell a sway bar kit in the future.
That actually makes sense. There is a sway bar kit on the upgrades sheet on their site.
A sway bar kit could be the missing link as to why its steering is all over the place with TSA disabled.@@DoRC
So you like standing in front of the ramp when it jumps off too? 😂
Got to get the shot!
It's definitely killing the Mojave 4s! But! The Mojave 6s exb is yet to be seen!
Traxxas save millions on not using aluminum parts then over price each rc ridiculously
I don't really mind the plastic parts. I've probably replaced more aluminum than plastic over the years but I don't think this is priced right.
Their aluminum housing is cnc machined his one is white metal.
I'm not sure what you're saying here. Which housing is CNC machined?
Lol not even close
Doesn't seem like it.
U can actually get the 4s and 6d mojave for the same price as this thing ye i think the over shot the price by at least 200$
I think if they had priced at $100 cheaper it would be a lot more palatable. I suspect this price will go down.
How? They’re not supposed to be available till next Friday? The hobby shop who let you get it before next Friday can get in trouble.
That's classified sorry
Looks like it handles like a monster truck.....
I think this is actually an okay car and I believe people who buy it won't be mad at it but I'd have a hard time recommending it over the Mojave
Spoken like a clueless arrma fan boy
Is this a basher or a SCT? The OG slash was never really a basher. Just wondering if this would be good on a track.
Why would it be a bad basher? Its probably the strongest SCT on the market.
@@The94gtmoose yeah I mean it's not that worst basher in the world but at least in my fairly brief experience it doesn't handle super well.
Ya know
Lighter is good though I think the 4S Mojave is only a little bit smaller and even lighter than this.
@@DoRCNow I'm torn! Lol
If you're torn between the two just get the Mojave. I would really struggle to recommend this over the 4S Mojave.
@DoRC I'm surprised you'd recommend 4s Mojave. That's where I was leaning aka price point. And I own two 6s mojaves. Thanks for your input.
I think it's overpriced too.
Is it regulation sct? Can it be raced on a track with other sct?
I'm not familiar with all short course truck classes but I don't think this is going to fall into any of them. It's not a standard size as far as I know.
