I find your rc reviews and ratings system to be among the best on UA-cam, and certainly one of the ones I trust the most. I thought the rating system was straightforward, but I think everyone else starts with a max score and then drop it from there rather than starting with an average and moving up or down.
The $700 Maxx Slash only has one target demographic: Slash owners. Otherwise for $700 you can buy any other RC on the market and it'll perform and handle way better than the Maxx Slash.
Thats an odd blank statement. I LOVE my Maxx Slash and I own 1 Slash. The other 40-50 are Losi, Arrmas and various Traxxas cars. I did just get a Mojave 4S and think its a great rig thats a cheaper alternative thats only 3 MPH slower but handles pretty much the same.

You’re probably one of the best sources since URC stopped reviewing rc cars And I’ve found your point system to be pretty solid. Just my opinion 👍

Not everyone that gets RC bashes and jumps. I race around with mine with my grandson and his Traxxas Slash 2wd and we have a blast.
The only problem with that is it allows manufacturers to continue designing sub par vehicles and charging premium prices for them because they know folks will buy anything with enough x's in the name. The snap on car, this truck, and the new little "monster truck" prove folks will pay whatever for horrible rigs. Defend this to your last breath but there's no excuse for the most recent Traxxas release. A $200 "monster truck" that can't do anything remotely resembling monster trucking.
Think its all coming down to price, Id be willing to put up with all that if it was 470$ truck. Its still a solid basher to beat around just a bit too costly
I watch a few US you tubers and you tubers here in the U.K. do the opinions of you tubers influence my purchases mmm maybe. I was never in the market for the Slash Max even though I love short course rc’s . I commented on Parkfliers review because to me it sounded like it was scripted by Traxxas! I normally like his videos they’re interesting. I also enjoy your content and I understand your rating system 😂 what’s not to understand? But importantly to me you sound like a knowledgable chap you always make informed comments and give your opinions. I think some people don’t understand that someone’s opinion is not a fact! It’s just their point of view. I’m a poor rc driver to say the least even after 40odd years of playing with them! But as you said the important thing is to have fun doing it regardless of your skill set. Keep up the good work. Look forward to watching of your videos, thank you.
Your reviews are the best and most fair on UA-cam. Everything you say is more than reasonable. I base most of my purchases and overall opinions on your reviews because I see things very similarly to you.
Great honest follow up, personally I couldn’t be happier with my Mojave 4S and wouldn’t even consider one of these instead. Side note given how good your driving normally is I have to say the fact the Maxx Slash handles so poorly probably doesn’t help with you driving in this session!
The biggest thing to me is if it makes me smile and laugh when I drive it and this truck does that for me as do most of my Arrmas and Losis. If I dont smile when I drive it then I sell it and move on. Good review as always sir. I very much enjoy your content. I do love my Mojave 4S and think I need to get a 6S one as well.
At this point trusting any reviews of Traxxas land products is just not an option for me. So, if they are reaching out and whining to content creators, this is actually working against them. To someone like myself its a red flag, why did they threaten the RC Saylor's? It appears they do this when a UA-camr reaches a conclusion they don't like.
Still never buying this. Super happy with my Mojaves. I think this was a huge miss on behalf of Traxxas-and I'm in no way anti-Traxxas. I own the 1/8 Sledge, 1/10 Slash LCG, 1/10 Slash Raptor R, 1/10 Rally VXL, 1/16 Slash, and many more of their trucks. All of them are upgraded to the hilt and I enjoy all of them. I think the Maxx Slash was an answer to the Mojave and it just wasn't well thought out enough. Their leadership team probably rushed it to market to seize market share, while the actual designers were upset they didn't have more time to make it great. Typical corporate America. I'll wait for the V2. No thank you, for now.
Listen man you nailed on this truck people our upses with brands,so instead of being open minded to any company and the fault on truck they bash over stupid stuff because their feelings our hurt, but appreciate you still braking it down,to me it's crap out the box compare Mojave 6s, thanks man
Ya. I agree. I asked my local shop, he gave me a sideways look, and said it isn’t selling…. He said even the Sledge sold on its own merit. This one isn’t moving…. Not for me either…
I think the big thing is the armor cars have cut out caps so the air can fly through it rather than lift it. I think that’s the biggest difference. Look at thunder RC what he’s doing with his jumping at 60 feet all the day was cut out the windows and put a wide max on it.
From the numerous video's done on the Max Slash, all around it dosn't seem to drive/performe that great with lots of criticism from those that actually bought them. In comparison most rave about the Mojave 4s & Mojave 6s rigs.
Your review system makes perfect sense it should be compared to other vehicles in it's class which I guess it's direct competition is the Arrma Mojave 6s
I really more or less getting back into this hobby from a long layoff and from what I can remember from my early days, is that traxxas vehicles are toys. Now I know they have evolved but besides their footprint for parts and availability, I’ve never been a big fan. To me they are the Kia/Hyundai of rc brands. Yes they are there in the space but there is better for your money. I would not spend $700 for this. JMO
It's not a bad truck, its just a couple hundred dollars overpriced and desingned for 4s. Which is fine until you compare it to something similar like the Arrma Mojave 6s then it looks silly.
Park flyers rc has no credibility to us. He’s a salesman. A level 6 salesman! He probably just ordered way too many cars and you got him nervous. The car drives terrible. The more you walk to flip back on its tires should tell us all how well it does.. I love mine truggified NOT as a short course
Everybody gets too worked up about the performance of these adult toys! Just buy what ever appeals your wallet and taste, but don’t forget to have fun.
I totally agree with the $700 on the maxx slash is exaggerating compared of others good rc that Traxxas has, the problem with mine and I think they should of put a a good cooling an the motor especially right now on the summer is really need it 🔥🔥🔥
With today's tough economy the price is the first word that comes out of people's mouth about the Maxx Slash then there's the performance and durability
Well said I don’t own this truck but from the videos I have seen it does seams to drive and jump worse than other short course trucks in its class that being said glad they now offer sway bars for it 👍🏻
The way I see it is this ppl need to understand you rated this RC on your personal experience on driving it and the way you drive that's pretty much it. Not everyone drives it as hard as you do, but for me I constantly look for vids like yous hence I'm a sub... just to see just how much these rc's can take without me having to push the boundaries...... If I was to purchase this one.. which I won't be simply cos it's not for me. Like a lot of ppl. But I would never come on any channel and rip into guys rating it.. cos we're all different like you said all the way through this chapter....lol. ❤ one of the reasons I watch these vids is cos we all drive them full trigger and sometimes lose control .... So I like to see if it can take the accidental banging of trees and kerbs etc... and just how much the repairs are and how often. great vid bro keep them coming. 😊
I adore mine. Are the electronics a bit outdated? Yep. Is it a bit pricey for its class? Yep. BUT, it's one of the TOUGHEST RC cars I've ever driven, and it's the FASTEST RTR SCT out of the box PERIOD! it's not perfect, but it's still a total BLAST in my opinion.
It's pass or fail to some people. 5 stars or 0 stars. Everything is 5 stars after a basic set of criteria are met. Everybody gets a participation medal.
its a weird one, traxxas cars are expensive and mostly plastic but are generally more durably than most including cars with alot of alloy, it would probably be cheaper to make a traxxas car, in other words your paying more for a cheaper material that tends do be more durable than an expensive material
I'm a traxxas guy, 2 X maxx's and a revo 3.3 converted to 4s and this truck lands like a Old radio shack rc, can't do speed runs cuz the body catches air and flips over backwards, suspension is limited to say the least imho. I have an Arrma big rock 6s that was $700. It's a little nose heavy but the suspension is miles ahead of this thing. This is a short track truck that is strictly a short track truck imho. This is extremely overpriced for a truck with one use, and only one use.
I wasn’t sure I was going to post this video, but in the end I thought it was interesting enough and a good way to talk about the truck and some of the counter-arguments I hear.
Ha Ha yeah he threw me in there with you he did not like our review but ohh well I dont own a hobby store and am motivated to sell products. Funny I swapped out the servo saver, servo and put the shock extenders up front its a totally different rc. I agree the belted tires are horrible there is no grip and mine came unglued too. I will say I dont think its a jumper it might survive the landings but it doesnt launch or fly well its like some drunk deranged bird it just wobbles and doesnt do it well and there are way better rc's if you want to get a lot of air.
Nowadays when complete rtr cars need upgrades especially servo electronic upgrade. Its more cist efficient and you get exactkybwhatbyou want by buying a rollerll chassie unstead you ebd uo saveing atleast 100$s if jit couple hundered. Find a car or truck thatvyou likebthe drivevtrain. Solod rear axle/ or a basher type truck or whatever rc class on street / off road. Reserachh and review the car or trick and go from there. The at the price these rc vehicles cost there should be a bunch of upgrades. Alot are hust simple things like plastic that strips so a metal varient is needed then the issue is problum free. I like to keeo my rc as much plastic as i can. Focusing on the weak parts your constantly replacing with just one metal upgrade. Plastic bends takes impacts straightens back out and its lighter. While aluminum ince its bent its over with. Alluminum for me is for plastic that akways breaks and for electrinic / transmission heat displacement. Gear boxes for heat in certain circumstances. But besides drive shafts that take in a lot of torque. An all alluminum car is waste of money. Robs the vehicle of performance. Alot of companies if they cant compete with after market companies that fkcus on electronics. Needs to just outsource or perhaos make a deal with after markett oarts comoany and just put there logo on parts comoany. After market companies have reputatuons whete once the stock part breaks. Ppl with knowledge reccomend those aftermarket to go to parts. If a complete rtr car took this garunteed working forumla utilized it towards there products. Youed have the best rtr available. Every gallowing yr when a new varient would need produced. Talk to drivers and upgrade detailsvthat go inti the chassie handling and suspension amd drive train just improve on current already good product.listen to the feed back. Not that there would be anythung to complain about. But maybe the rc length or width or ride heigth. Could make all the difference or habeing the chassie easier to unassemble into several sections. Just enough to be able to say this priduct is duffere t and we listen to the consumers to offer the best experience to make the customer want to purchase the new version. The curelrent rc is already awesome no need to get rid of it. Or can make after market parts to lower center of gravity . Length ir within if chassie ride height susspension. Motor mounting. Could be in front middke or rear depending what rc druver is looking for.
lcg chassis is only 1.5 inches off the ground... over 2 feet in the air its not made for.. it is a fantastic truck... all it needs out of the box is swaybars...
Also, I think the Arrma shocks are way better than Traxxas shocks. I think that’s the main difference between between the maxx slash and the Arrma rigs
Lol i had a blast with the maxx slash, its fast, its drifts, its fun! You cant bash a sct like you can a monster truck so why compare them with the same type of driving ?
Holy f**k people are stupid, lol! What's so difficult to understand?! 🤦🏻♂️ Ultimately, reviews are opinions based on personal experience. I never trust reviews where a reviewer has a clear bias (think Mark Santa Maria and Traxxas!) but you are fair and probably one of the most honest reviewers on YT. I don't always agree with you but our experiences might be different or what's important to me might not be important to you. Just keep doing what you're doing, there's a reason you have almost 50k subscribers! 👍
really? someone needs to let Traxxas know, because they show it doing 20 ft high backflips at a concrete skatepark in their official video... someone should tell them they're driving the truck wrong.
I don’t get why you have to defend your OPINION so much? I think it’s a crappy car for $700. My biggest gripe about it is that today the Mojave 6S is $540 and I would have to spend roughly $400 to make the Maxx Slash comparable to the Mojave. I’m not an Arrma fan boy either. I love my XRT but this was a big miss for me. I wouldn’t recommend this RC to anyone. And the Servo that comes stock is terrible.
You have to understand razor. Statistically speaking, 50% of the population is "at three stars and below"...if you get what I'm saying... I'm not surprised they can't understand such a simple rating system.
Typical Razor RC "Redaction" video. Initial review: Presents truths with video proof of his experiences for YOU the viewer to see that hurts brand loyalists feelings (Mainly Traxxas) then drops a follow up video, " Oh hey, i was wrong about (insert any Traxxas RC and its affiliate link ). Geez, you had momentum with the Losi review too, just stick with a easy formula, unboxing, run video, then conclude with a HONEST review, and if its a positive Traxxas review so be it. It must be hard not to be a shill on RC UA-cam LOL. I cant take you folks here seriously anymore, my local Hobby store provides me with honest opinions because i spend a lot of money with them. I cant say the same for newer customers that have to endure the "Whole Traxxas sales pitch" SMH.

5:02 You say 6 to 8s capable but are those sintered metal gears up to the task on 8s?
Listen man you nailed on this truck people our upses with brands,so instead of being open minded to any company and the fault on truck they bash over stupid stuff because their feelings our hurt, but appreciate you still braking it down,to me it's crap out the box compare Mojave 6s, thanks man
Every video I’ve seen for the Maxx Slash confirms your review. Including this one. This rig sucks.
Ya. I agree. I asked my local shop, he gave me a sideways look, and said it isn’t selling…. He said even the Sledge sold on its own merit. This one isn’t moving…. Not for me either…
Interesting…!
I think the big thing is the armor cars have cut out caps so the air can fly through it rather than lift it. I think that’s the biggest difference. Look at thunder RC what he’s doing with his jumping at 60 feet all the day was cut out the windows and put a wide max on it.
The body makes a huge difference for sure!
Even then it still flies like a shoe box. Thunder beat the hell or if his and the durability is incredible.
Love me some arrmas, losi, traxxas, and axial, but man the price tag is bananas
From the numerous video's done on the Max Slash, all around it dosn't seem to drive/performe that great with lots of criticism from those that actually bought them. In comparison most rave about the Mojave 4s & Mojave 6s rigs.
Your review system makes perfect sense it should be compared to other vehicles in it's class which I guess it's direct competition is the Arrma Mojave 6s
Question. Ezrun max 8 4268 2500kv combo good for an Arrma Typhon Tlr for track use.
Anything sensored
I really more or less getting back into this hobby from a long layoff and from what I can remember from my early days, is that traxxas vehicles are toys. Now I know they have evolved but besides their footprint for parts and availability, I’ve never been a big fan. To me they are the Kia/Hyundai of rc brands. Yes they are there in the space but there is better for your money. I would not spend $700 for this. JMO
It's not a bad truck, its just a couple hundred dollars overpriced and desingned for 4s. Which is fine until you compare it to something similar like the Arrma Mojave 6s then it looks silly.
Can’t jump the Maxx Slash? Tell that to Thunder RC lol the dude is practically jumping houses with this thing.
As I recall, his ESC cut out on his first run and his Maxx Slash turned into a 10 lb. brick falling out of a 3 story building.
Can we get the unedited non tongue biting version?
That’s in my members-only subscription channel! 🤣🤣🤣
@@RazorRC I would also like to see that version.
Picking mine up tomorrow...... I think...
Well said I don’t own this truck but from the videos I have seen it does seams to drive and jump worse than other short course trucks in its class that being said glad they now offer sway bars for it 👍🏻
The sway bars make a significant difference, I wish I had emphasized that more.
It is tough. And fast.
@@RazorRC totally agree, and I also just realized my initial comment came off a bit overly excited hahaha. Sorry about that
@@Rek_RcDon’t ever apologize for just telling it how it is and shooting from the hip. 🤘
always great reviews!!! thanks for posting!!
💯% great review as always!
It's pass or fail to some people. 5 stars or 0 stars. Everything is 5 stars after a basic set of criteria are met. Everybody gets a participation medal.
I like your reviews and honestly
its a weird one, traxxas cars are expensive and mostly plastic but are generally more durably than most including cars with alot of alloy, it would probably be cheaper to make a traxxas car, in other words your paying more for a cheaper material that tends do be more durable than an expensive material
Love your truly honest review dude your awesome for that finally some one saying the truth 🤙🏼
I try
It would be nice of them to mention it will not perform as shown in this video lol
Glad you responded to that video 👍 I have no interest in this truck. From the videos I jave watched it seems ok, but not better than a Mojave.
Could be in front middke or rear depending what rc druver is looking for.
lcg chassis is only 1.5 inches off the ground... over 2 feet in the air its not made for.. it is a fantastic truck... all it needs out of the box is swaybars...
oh and it so much tougher than the UDR its obvious and un deniable!!
Also, I think the Arrma shocks are way better than Traxxas shocks. I think that’s the main difference between between the maxx slash and the Arrma rigs
Agree that the Arrma shocks are better
Lol i had a blast with the maxx slash, its fast, its drifts, its fun! You cant bash a sct like you can a monster truck so why compare them with the same type of driving ?
Holy f**k people are stupid, lol! What's so difficult to understand?! 🤦🏻♂️
Ultimately, reviews are opinions based on personal experience. 👍
So how does a guy get it to go 70 mph +
Put it in the back seat of your car.
-😂
its nit a basher dude... why is it in the air 6 feet... its made to run down low...
really? someone needs to let Traxxas know, because they show it doing 20 ft high backflips at a concrete skatepark in their official video... someone should tell them they're driving the truck wrong.
I think your reviews are outstanding..........The car just sucks...IMO
Put steel belted sledgehammer tires on it.
Mojave is a way better buy
🤣🤣🤣
Because there’s many different rating systems and unless explained we’re randomly guessing you fool.
Take the front and rear ends off your Maxx add to the chassis bingo you got a better Maxx slash and a better Maxx truggy style
What it really comes down to is out the box for 700 dollars it handles like crap.
Did you even watch this video? The conclusion is literally that I haven’t changed my mind about this truck. 🤷♂️
My point was, stick by your initial review. You shouldn't be compelled to make these videos to appease people who didn't like your initial review.
@@RazorRCWatcing and reading the comments together. I like your reviews. I thought I wanted the sledge when first knew; then watched the reviews. Nope. Thought I wanted this, then watched the reviews. Nope. Don’t want it. Thank you for the honest review. Much appreciated.
@@spenn2007 I didn’t appease anyone who didn’t like my original video. If anything, I pissed them off even more. Not sure what you’re on about.
@@spenn2007 *My point was, stick by your initial review.*
Dude, that’s literally what he did. You’d know this if you had bothered to actually watch the video rather than just look at the title in the thumbnail.
Razor tried Traxxas’ new sway bar “fix” for the MS’s bad handling and concluded that he still stands by his original review.
Sounding like a fan boy. It’s not worth the money and you’re the only one that says so. Lcg plus huge jumps = broken motors esc’s servo’s and chassis so no not ideal for bashing. It’s a track truck for way too much.
Huh? I gave it 1 star in Value.
You'd think the prices on Traxxas products would go down since they use the same platforms over and over and over
It’s the same as everything else. If people keep paying they will keep charging.
But hey we made it 21% bigger! Fr tho they should’ve kept it the same size and made an actual bash worthy slash 1/10.
I'm a fan of offroad races and the slash looks and handles almost exactly like the trucks they run. So, I'm glad they kept the same look.
So what was decided in this video? Still can't tell whether you think the truck is worth the 700 or not. What exactly were you wrong about? Don't get this video. All I know is the Trax Ass Max Slash is a severely underwhelming but overpriced product. Still. It remains so despite the posting of this video. The folks at Arrma are not worried.
Who knows…
I wouldn’t entertain that guy. He clearly has an agenda. He insulted me because he didn’t like my comment.
Yourself, Earl Moorhead and RC Guy Garage are the channels I resort to for EVERYTHING RC related!🫡
My one criticism is that he took the comments a little too personally. You have to have thick skin on YT.
RC review is really good too. Mostly crawlers though❤
