    Great video and I think it’s a great buggy for track or some bashing by the looks of it. I’m awaiting mine. I preordered it and it should be here next week on Wednesday! I think that chassis material is what the Typhon 6S uses. I scratched it up pretty bad running it on a track, but never bent. Despite me chucking it off the triple till I landed one.

    • @DoRC

    I've been waiting for this one! Thanks for the review, I've been waiting to see how the Losi 8IGHT-XE holds up to bashing. Looks like it handles very well and jumps very well. Durability can always be improved, but good handling is often limited to the platform. Definitely a huge con that the motor and ESC are soldered together, cutting them voids the 2 year warranty.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  6 місяців тому +1

      Yeah that's the race car way though. I do understand why they did it. And this thing definitely handles really well out of the box. Even on the slick wet grass I was speed running on it barely needed any correction to stay straight and turned well.

    Awesome video as always.. That ramp you have out bashing sure has a really short and sharply rising ramp... I was wondering that must place some stress on the chassis as its almost like hitting a wall at those high speeds.. Looks like a fantastic buggy..

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  6 місяців тому +2

      Yes the ramp very steep and puts a lot of stress on the vehicles. The area in which I'm bashing is very small so I need to have that angle to not end up in the neighbor's yard :-) It's also good for testing as it does put a lot of stress on things and I've actually broken a couple of cars just hitting the ramp.

    I wasn't stoked on the bashing at first I was thinking "this ain't bashing" lol but it got better after hitting the ramps, now get it out there & bash it on dirt, concrete & see how it holds up? "Insert a rich duperbash or rcdude81 vid here!" I would say it's more of a race buggy than bash where the TLR Typhon is more bash than race,but anything can be bashed! I sometimes just drive and do jumps/flips etc without wings as they occasionally imo have increased the dage to car when crashes occur. Not always but occasionally imo. That also depends on the surface you land on. Do tghe wings even increase the downforce on vehicle when driving under 60 mph? I have my doubts, but idk. They do look cool tho. I always enjoy your content and have benefited from your advice repeatedly. TY kindly for that. I recommend to consider possibly buying a strong magnet or perhaps a metal detector to sweep your lawn with, to find missing parts (dogbones/pins etc) It has paid for itself tenfold for me. Great video. Happy trails.

    How did that 6s ESC fit in there? How did the 6s battery fit in there? My friend is having me convert his to 6s. He tried to have someone else do it and they did a hack job. They used his Talion 6s motor and ESC and the ESC is too big and hits the body and the servo arm is hitting the ESC. I tried to talk him out of making it a 6s car but that’s what he wants to do. What battery were you using exactly? Thanks.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  6 місяців тому

      ESC fit fine once I removed the little bracket on the mounting plate. A standard 6S battery isn't going to fit under the body. I used a fairly short 4000 mAh 6s battery and it touched the body but was okay. You might be better off using two 3S low profile batteries as the battery tray is pretty long.

      @@DoRC yeah I’ve been searching for a 6s battery that will fit. I even made a mock up battery out of cardboard to see the max battery I could get in there and NONE of the 6s batteries I could find are gonna fit. The only shorty 3s batteries I can find that will fit are 4300mah batteries. I think I’m going to have modify the battery tray or put a all together differemt battery tray in it so I can mount a battery all the way down to the chassis and that will give me the option of a 48-50mm tall battery. How was the run time with that 4000mah 6s battery you used? Can you tell me the exact battery you used Tao I can look it up and check out its dimensions. I could use the help. A friend wants is converted to 6s and I’m trying to save him from someone who already let him down and hacked up 2 ESC’s and returned the car to him with the steering assembly hitting the ESC and the body wears t even close to going on. Total hack job. Can you please tell me the exact battery you used and general run time. I’d appreciate any input further you may have. Thank you.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  6 місяців тому +2

      @@joshuajkoplin 4300 might not be too bad. A 4,300 6s battery in a fairly light buggy like that should give you pretty decent run time. But yeah it's one of the inherent issues with buggies. This body actually is a little bit more forgiving than some of them out there but they all are seriously limited in battery height. You could try just removing the battery tray entirely and figuring out some way to mount the battery directly to the chassis. Again the battery I used isn't going to help you because it technically didn't fit. It was rubbing on the body really badly. Was a 4,000 mAh battery and I didn't exactly time run time but it felt reasonable.

    • @joshuajkoplin
      @joshuajkoplin 6 місяців тому +1

      That was a quick response. Thanks! I think I’m going to cut the entire floor out of the battery trays and mount it with brackets. That way a battery can sink all the way to the chassis. Do you have a FB? I’d like to share with you my progress and bounce some ideas. -Josh

    I've bashed the crap out of (and rebuilt repeatedly) my Tenacity TT Pro.........thinking this might be my next hot rod/shelf queen.
    If anyone can think of a reason I should consider another car, please share your opinion. This would be my second RC, only in the hobby for a year or so.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  6 місяців тому

      Will the car mostly be for bashing. If it is I'm not sure this will be most economical option. This is really designed as a race car and it just happens to be a good basher. Check out the TC spark. It's cheaper handles pretty close to as well and will run on 6S out of the box

      @@DoRC I'd likely keep the Tenacity to bash, this just for parade laps and speed runs....race later, maybe. (The similarity to the short course truck shortens the repair learning curve, too.)

    When will losi fking learn to stop having clam shells separate at dif input bearings, always issues with those. Gives me baja rey v1 relase ptsd with front bulkhead. They couldnt do it right for front bulkhead which had less load than rear and now they do it again for rear and high power vehicle, hell nah
    Even in ideal world where the clam shells are designed and manufactured perfectly this will fail, you overtighten one screw a bit and leave other too lose, its pita to shim and it always needs shims.

    Light bashing at best. Pretty sad its using dog bones up front. Losi will never be the same after horizon ruined them. For $20 more you can buy an arrma kraton 6s exb

      It has universals in the front. I think this is a good car for people who want to do light bashing and some racing but if you want to do pure bashing then yes you'd be better off with something else

    The HoBao Hyper VS2-E race buggy has higher build quality than the losi , despite the fact that the losi has a sensored motor and ESC combo , and the losi is more expensive than the VS2 . Personally i think the losi is overpriced poor value for money . For a RTR 8TH scale buggy , no other RTR buggy out there has the quality as a whole sum of it's parts of the HoBao Hyper VS2 . Reminds of RC traxxas , also overpriced poor value for money but popular in the US RC market , but here in the UK TRAXXAS ranks near the bottom of RC tier market , because we in the UK have way better quality value RC'S than traxxas .

      Uhh where ? Because I’d be there if I could find 5th scale off-road racing somewhere I can travel we have nitro but not in my state , we can travel hours to other states but it’s why I got into Eletric rcs couldn’t xcross anymore couldn’t fight with civilians over sound of toy cars , so my yards make shift track but even the electric gets loud hitting jumps ect I feel guilty dropping money on 8th scale rcs just to have new ones sometimes , I’d rather be racing newyork we have track day hobbies , cool guys but just specialized for 5th scale guys in the city or Brooklyn and they do drag racing , those guys have McD and losis but just meet at Floyd Bennett park to have fun

      @DoRC  6 місяців тому +17

      I can definitely understand the 7075 parts as they are really nice on the TLR but I'm becoming less and less convinced that 6s is necessary on these buggies. This 4s system is as much power as I ever think I would need on this buggy.

    I’m not exactly new to RC. But what does the timing do? Is it like punch or throttle response? I guess don’t know.😞🛻

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  6 місяців тому +1

      The timing alters the point in the rotors rotation at which the ESC sends power to the corresponding winding. It's a pretty involved and complex topic That is actually pretty interesting. I'd recommend googling brushless motor timing or how a brushless motor works etc to learn more as it would be way too much to put in a comment

    • @BeardRubEnjoyer
      @BeardRubEnjoyer 6 місяців тому +1

      Very roughly, based on user manuals, more timing is more high end speed at the cost of more heat and juice.
