- Let's talk about Epoxy and Direct To Metal Primers. Just because is says DTM does that mean it is the best material to spray over bare steel? Maybe not. Today I will discuss what I have learned and pass it along to you all. I was surprised by what I found out.

Thanks for the info, Mark. I didn't know that there was an epoxy primer that was sand able. I have always used Shopline epoxy that tends to plug up the sandpaper. I thought I saw a NAPA logo on the can, interesting, I'll have to check it out for the next project. Automotive paint is stunningly expensive!
I haven't sanded this product before but the rep told me it sands well. I will definitely let you all know. Back in the day I would walk out of the paint store with everything to paint a car and I mean everything (tape, paper, sealer, color, reducer and hardener) for just under a hundred bucks. Costs are crazy but I am willing to pay for quality.

@@FoothillPaintandFabrication well, materials have advanced since acrylic enamel paint and lacquer primer but it is still ridiculous.
Learned a lot, as usual Mark.
Thanks
Hard to keep up sometimes with the way things change.
Thanks Mark I learned a lot.
I am always learning and trying to grow my knowledge on the best products available. Hard to keep up...

Thanks for the info Mark! I will certainly follow along on this project to learn more about primers.
Looks like you have had pretty nice weather down there, perfect for working on a truck....
@@FoothillPaintandFabrication Getting out there in a few minutes Mark. Getting the front end steering all back together. Hopefully, much tighter steering! :)
@@douglashart5059Good to hear, it will be like driving a new truck when you are done.
Great video. VP2050 seems to be all the rage these days, did you consider it?
Unfortunately it is not available in my area do to VOC restrictions. PPG has always made outstanding products and I have sprayed gallons upon gallons of PPG paints over the years so I am sure this is a really good product.
