    There was a time when I only had one strap for a watch. Now I do have at least 3 options for every watch. I change them depending on the season, the activity, the occasion and my mood.

      Me too. It's maddening at times though. I have to justify why I have more money in straps dedicated to a particular watch. Just got the Steinhart Ocean 39 and I'm on my fourth strap for it. Guess it's better than crack right? Cheers

    Thanks Peter! I've had Strapsco in my bookmarks for some time, but I've previously found out the hard way that buying straps can be a total money pit with nothing to show. I'm glad you took the time because I really like that red leather.
    One of my first 'serious' watch purchases is my Orient Ray 2 on rubber strap; the rubber strap is way too long, the end extends way out and it snags on everything and looks ridiculous. I've spent way too much money on amazon with straps I really regretted buying that I should have returned, but figured I could eventually pair them with other watches as my "collection" grew. Now, they just congregate in my drawer like lazy bums and do nothing :)
    That red leather...
    Red it is! :D

    Hey Peter!
    Great vid mate. I like strap videos. There aren't enough of them.
    The problem with straps, as you said, is that price doesn't always reflect quality. I hate paying more for a strap, thinking that it's going to be better quality than the much cheaper version...
    But a good one is worth its weight in gold!
    I've got some catching up to do too. Been away dealing with family stuff.

    Hi Pete! You are so right: suppleness is key to a good strap. Nothing worse than than too stiff straps. I think it may have been worth it for you to point out the quality of the leather. Genuine leather is typically bonded, and won't last nearly as long as top grain or full grain. It may look fine from a distance, but there is a reason these are so cheap. You get what you pay for, and while these are probably very good for what they are, I wouldn't put them on any of my higher end watches.

    Hi!
    First thing that comes to my mind: waterproof, leather waterproof.
    My preference on straps are leather bands, and because of me loving running and outdoor activities I tend to wear my leather-strapped watches everywhere and found that some of the bands are .. dying .. so, I see the watches are diving , Are the leather ones waterproof?
    Regarding colors / models: the 3rd one , the red one ; What about that in "stressed" brown?
    Great presentation.. as usual...

    • @PeterKotsa
      @PeterKotsa  3 роки тому

      I don’t think leather and water mix very well. Some people recommend waterproofing the leather but even that is not very effective if you get the straps submerged

  • @anonimushbosh

    Very much agree about wider pins - partly because they’ll last longer. The third one (red one) looked nice - and quite chunky but according to their website is only 3mm thick. Even my thinnest leather straps measure over 3mm and so I’m confused now - unless the website is wrong. What does your strap measure?
    Ps I followed up your rubber strap video by asking Borealis when they expect to restock. Sent them a couple of emails a fortnight ago but no replies. If you happen to know... feel free to share!

    • @PeterKotsa
      @PeterKotsa  3 роки тому

      I just checked the red strap and I measure it in at approx 3.1mm thick..
      I know it looks thicker but that is an optical illusion with the black sides...it is indeed 3.1mm or thereabouts.
      As for Borealis, no I have not heard anything about restock etc..maybe Covid has affected them .
