after not playing guitar for the last 10 years i started again last september. and this time around i wanted to learn "jazz".
i fell in love with a gretsch 5420t and an orange rt30. after ordering, i then learned in so many videos that i could not use a gretsch for jazz, because its a rockabilly guitar. also i was sad to be informed that orange amps dont have good clean sounds. so i completely wasted around a 1000 euros ...
turned out it sounded exactly how i imagined it would sound. the gretsch with the filtertrons produced a heavenly airy sound, and the orange cleans were warm, full and "thumby". a great combination. i really enjoy the orange amps hope you will too.
have a nice day!
Im calling the Jazz Police Mister!
I have an Orange 30 watt which I use a lot. I also use a Positive Grid Spark 40 which is my favorite practice amp.
I have an Orange Crush 35 RT. I really like the sound. I read it's not good for jazz, but it works for me. I also have a little vox pathfinder, that's pretty good stuff too. 😀
I've always been fascinated by Orange amps, but I've never been 100% convinced because there are only rock/metal demos of these guitar amps online, so I was thinking of buying a Spark from Positive Grid. Seeing this video put a doubt in my head. I didn't think an Orange amp could have such a good clean sound for Jazz! Too bad there isn't an integrated reverb (however I can always connect a pedal)
Great sounds. It's in your fingers Tina!
thank you!!
I enjoy your videos immensely. For what it's worth, Kirstein is my mother's maiden name. Greetings from Pennsylvania, USA
That Orange Crush is a great little practice amp! The amp I've been using for practice is an old Roland Cube 40 from the 1980's. It has a 10" speaker, 3 band eq (bass, middle, treble), and reverb. Only a single channel with 2 different inputs... normal & over drive. It sounds surprisingly good in the "normal" input, but the over drive is not very good at all. At 40 watts (solid state) it's loud enough for small gigs. An overdrive/distortion pedal makes it more versatile. It also has an effects loop (pre out / main in) which is nice for time based effects such as delay/echo. With a master volume control it's suitable for practising at lower volumes while maintaining a good tone. This Roland Cube and it's larger version, the Cube 60 were very popular for jazz guitar in the 80's as an affordable and portable amp. Coincidentally they are also orange in colour. There are so many more choices today then there were back then! Thanks for the excellent demo of the Orange Crush. Seems to be a great choice for a small amp without a large price tag! Best regards ~Glenn
For over 10 years use the Crush 12 amp where i teach private lessons. Tried a few comparable small newer ones and IMO this sounds the best. At home I play mostly acoustic but for electric an old Ibanez GX 30: bigger and more power but still ok for an apartment.
i am starting to love it too!
My first thought: Tina goes metal! 😂
PS I'm using a Harley Benton Tube5. A very affordable and small Tube Amp with very nice clean sounds. I'm very happy with it.
How affordable?
around 120 €

I bought it used in very good condition for €95
Sounds nice!
Finally we've learned why Vovox cables have an orange shrink tube on the amp side! This little guy must be so proud 😂
Good review thanjs
I enjoyed this. I had this very amp for quite a while and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately sold it when I needed some quick cash but would get another. I'm playing a Roland JC-22 for practice these days ... super clean at any volume.
thank you!
My fav practice amp is a VOX AC4TV 10", which comes with a Celestion speaker. And my Fender 56 Champ clone from MOJOtone.
Sounds great! is that tube or SS? Love your playing, esp the Days of Wine and Roses as have been studying that one. Thanks for the review!
not a tube 😌
love the overdrive
I seen one for sale a while back. It was a nice-looking small amp. You're playing sounds good.
thank you Larry!
Hi, i own the little Orange Micro Terror Top (20W) with a matching tiny 8" Box. It is also great! On my 12" Cabinet with a Canabis Rex Speaker it sounds top and great!
It looks good. And probably with some pedals it is good enough for small gigs. I use a Vox valvetronix at home, I really like Vox amps.
Hi Tina . A question about your guitar . A while ago I saw you playing an yamaha, and now the Ibanez. Wich one do you prefer ? And why .
nice little amp , just a bit unfortunate it doesnt have reverb
oh it’s really good. really really good. it’s my first ever go-to amp. i have the 35rt currently. sometimes i switch here and there with the boss katana mini just to play at night.
That's a cool little amp. I do like orange. I have a 15w Marshall but I think it has seen better days now to be honest..
Sounds great
WOW, so nice playing! And the amp sounds good too :)
thank you!
Too much Mitten :D
