@@SAUCEyounot really, in xray engine modding all you had to do was decompile gamedata with an easily found program and now you have full access to every file in the game, unreal engine not so much. even grokitach said something along the lines of this

I would expect more from the audio department, imagine downed enemies croaking or groaning in pain, after a desperate gunfight, one where you barely got out alive. Even without massive gore implements like other games, that would be immersive and brutal, perfect for STALKER.
@@GamSpu Plus it requires 3x the computing power to run and look nearly the same as the old one, what a joke. Compared to Doom, BF, Fear, Killzone, Black this looks (AI, Animations etc.) like an indie game.
@@Mirec2x If you stink Stalker 2 looks nearly like the original games, you weren't around back in the day and played the original. You're probably comparing it to modded Anomaly or GAMMA, but then still Stalker 2 looks remarkably better, especially since it uses Lumen and Nanite. I've played both original Stalker Trilogy, GAMMA and now Stalker 2 for several hours and it looks incredible maxed out at 4k.
@@jackliu8991 Really the enemies and animals looks nearly the same. The only thing that improved is the environment. Also the AI and animations are lack lustering, Tell me it is on the same level as some other AAA games?
Definitely sad since I remember back then that earlier versions of this game had full gore and dismemberment planned. But that was a long time ago. Can't even recall which video I saw of that. Kinda like an earlier developer diary of sorts. I might be misremembering. It has been so long in development.
@@RandomMadnessChannel , I was, at the very least, expecting the blood stains to be more consistent. Would have loved to see Insurgency: Sandstorm type of blood spilling and dripping from stains on walls. Even without full dismemberment, that could have at least worked well with the tone they seem to be going for. I'll always find it weird when hardcore games often fail to impress in the response mechanics department. Makes me wonder why it rarely gets the love needed to even make basic feedback look properly immersive (and not in the mainstream definition of immersive).
Just saying. A fedhoria ragdoll type mod would be soo good to seen in this game. While the dismemberment could be like a subtle thing. Like happening if used specific guns and such.
I'm with you on that on every level ever... I'm genuinely disappointed the ragdolls don't even have the slightest intelligence to them, the bodies just flop back or animate and flop back, killing enemies in the previous stalkers is way more satisfying and dare i say more immersive..
In the first game, sometimes your character would bleed when injured, giving a debuff and spawning blood decals under you as you move..more frequently depending on the strength of the bleed effect. Is it like that in #2? Hope it's at least the same.
Bleeding is still a mechanic. You can tell when youre bleeding by the two red droplets by your health bar after taking damage. Theres a chance you can start bleeding from gunshots but usually it feels like its more likely to occur after animal attacks.
They were planned in the original games too, old videos of Oblivion Lost builds have them, but for some reason they removed them in the final game. But modders re-integrated them in some mods, like Anomaly, Dead Air, etc.
At least they added wounds. Though no bloodpools is abit immersion breaking. Not every game needs dismemberment. But wounds and bloodpools should at least be standard. Even cod knows this. Other than that game looks sick.
Thank you for finally uploading in 4K something I've been asking for, for ages. Your previous 1080p videos looked horrible on my TV, especially those encoded in VP09 which this one still is but UA-cams 4K handles it much better. At this point and as many subs as you have, they should be allowing your videos to process in AV10.
I think the most important thing currently is someone needs to make a mod that gets rid of the awful canned death animations and makes the collisions on the ragdolls a lot better! Super excited to see how mods improve the response mechanics though thanks as always valentine for giving people who care about these mechanics in games the most, a place to congregate. You don't know how much this means!
Not to be on a high horse but Devs need to understand players want impactful gunplay, I give this game a break because it’s a miracle it even launched but spending a little more time adding more to the bullet impacts and gore/dismemberment goes a very long way because it keeps you immersed. I think red dead is a perfect example of ragdoll physics and might be controversial but helldivers 2 pre nerfs had very satisfying gunplay by allowing bullets to literally shred things to pieces i know im rambling but i think those two games have spoiled me. Again i cut this game slack but i seriously hope modders step in
one more thing why enemies are bullet sponges they should add bullet impact injury animation and make it play on every hit but keep in mind the caliber of the gun your using and armor the enemies are using.
Better than i was expecting, it's serviceable feedback for this game. What it really could benefit from is some blood pooling and scorch marks from explosives. I can't tell if there's death animations here or just straight to ragdoll, have you noticed any?
Yeah there were a few, short quick ones. Some stains on all impacts (especially with the huge blood puffs as many mentioned here in the comments) and blood pools would have made wonders for this
With the Xray engine, maybe someone could mod it in, though the Xray engine is very esoteric. The animations are nice though, even if short. Have you seen any wounded and disabled animations like in the original games?
Still dont understand how you gamers put up with the whole "The game is bad now but mods will fix it" thing At the end of the day you are giving your money to the people that made the game who didnt finish it. The modders wont get any money. And, will anyone even be interested in modding it?
the blood sucks, I get a fart cloud and thats it, i watxhed a small blood deca on a wall dissapear a second after. It kinda makes the combat meh knowing my kills are just an empty carcass that dont bleed
in my mind i compare every game's gore to brutal doom where you would have bits and pieces as well as blood dripping from the ceiling after a fire fight and you would be able to trace your actions by following your own trail of bulletcasings and bullet holes its an old game with friggn sprites for enemies but fuck me the gore made more than up for it
tbh im not comparing it to other games super gorey like doom, but the previous games. which had lots of blood in 2009. atleast when I shot someone it felt like I did. in 2024 shooter games need blood, this games lack there of throwa me right off for imersion cause I know the bodys just floating and it makes the body feel more like an asset just ragdolled out with no blood.
It feels like metro exodus such a great gun gameplay feeling, the sound, the realism and ambient but ruined with poor gore :(( why they do this, its criminal!
STALKER is not "post apocalyptic". A lot of games don't have dismemberment. It requires investing additional time and resources. Game developers have priorities, and unfortunately, it's a finite list. GSC probably figured that gore wasn't all that important of a thing to implement.

Did they only switch the renderer to Unreal or the whole game engine? Because GTA Definitive Edition only runs Unreal Renderer, all the rest still is Criterion's renderware.

It was posted on the Discord. Looks like basically a texture replacement mod. I think there is room for that when you have better mechanics (like RDR1\RoN), but when all the spilling is just stains on walls, that would be a boring video TBH
Big surprise, yet another underwhelming MS first party release. SMH. 4 years of hype for a 7/10 game. No wonder they are getting their assess handed to them by PS and Nintendo.
Did everybody get on the same page about them not actually being located inside an active warzone but instead currently being in Poland? I've noticed many reviewers got that wrong as to give GCS a pass for this mess of a game.
@matthewjones39 I know what you mean, but the original unedited comment did make it sound like they were both located in an active warzone and in Poland, so it was my grammatical error.
i am not saying this to take side. But in some situations, without gore, the gameplay feels more violence. Such in this Stalker 2, the censor thing in Darkness 2 or new Hitman series. Violence comes from the bullet impactions, the punch hit/gun/bones breaking sounds, etc bring a much more feeling than the gore. In Fear 2 or TLOF series. Yes, a lot of gore elements but it is cartoonish and does not showing much brutality.

The blood mist from the shotgun is quite good. It reminds me of GTA 4. But yes, it could definitely use some mods for better immersion.

@PsychoRavager 100% agreed. Insurgency Sandstorm style spilling would have been great here. Perhaps with some TLOU inspired blood pools

Game looks absolutely stunning. I knew what to expect when I read the ESRB log, but still pretty damn underwhelming.
We'll see what the mods will bring
For how huge the puffs from bullet impact are, the size of the wall decals and the lack of floor spilling is just jarring

No dismemberment or bullet hole mechanics puts me off straight away. Totally ruins the immersion.

You must and this is a must, do a gore review for Scp 5K just remember it’s in early access but the gore is stunning

From what I've seen not much effects. Fallout had the gib system so it's beating stalker in that department.

Yes, a lot of gore elements but it is cartoonish and does not showing much brutality.
