You know, I've always wondered, if Max was able to slip a uniform over his Valkyrie for a disguise in the show, and the battroids are meant to be the same size as the typical meltrandi/zentraedi soldier, then shouldn't a battroid be able to fit in a regult or glaug's cockpit for some mecha-ception action?
One would think that would be true! When the Zentraedi climbs out of his pod after Rick empties his gun into it you get the sense that he was really stuffed into the pod, but before this happens Rick topples it with his veritech which gives a good size comparison on how much larger the Regault is and how big the toys should be in comparison.
@@jpatt1000 - In Ep. 2 "Countdown" Hikaru's Valk is is GERWALK mode as he flies between the Regult's legs, and the backpack completely clears the pod's crotch area. *Battroid* 13m tall. *Zentraedi* avg. 10m tall. *Regult* (officially 15m tall, pod 8m long and wide); [perhaps 18m tall more likely]. *Glaug* (officially 17m tall); [perhaps 20m tall more likely].
@@texasbeast239 This I know. A better scene for size comparison would be when Rick (or Hikaru) is out on patrol in the armored battloid and He encounters Rico, Braun and Khonda. When he finally gets inside and starts looking around the size of the seats and crew compartment make his mecha look like just one of the boys. That said, a battle pod would be cramped duty for a Zentraedi. (Especially wearing armor!) Like it's their version of a B-17 ball turret. It's a wonder all the pilots weren't Exedore's size!
aw nice! i had the old matchbox version of this toy when i was a little kid. no idea what it was (i always pretended it was ed-209) I actually wouldnt mind owning this one for old times sake! pretty pricey but very cool looking :) very tempted
Well yeah, in mechwarrior. With messy copyright legal issues with Harmony Gold, Activision, and Bandai unfortunately. Was my one of my favorite mechs in the mechwarrior 2 game though!
Juliana Huang. Yeah I know, It is actually rightfully known as the Zentradi Officer Battlepod in Macross. Harmony Gold unfortunately has the legal rights to this figure in the United States. So basically this mech is a legal quagmire between Bandai, Harmony Gold, FASA, Activision, Tatsunoko Production and Studio Nue. Anyway I agree with you. Fak Harmony Gold. (Still love the the design of the Marauder/Zentradi Officer Battlepod though!!)
aw, you can really tell the difference here between the Bandai model and the Matchbox model, mostly in the attention to detail. it's kind of cool how large the Matchbox version was, but it's really lacking in detail compared to the Bandai. guess my mind is made up. it's 2018 and there's still plenty of them available on eBay
Interesting how is that Robotech/Macross is nowadays just a piece of nostalgia. Battletech instead is moving forward. So it is not a battle pod anymore. It is a Marauder. Harmony Gold censored a fan Robotech project (Robotech Valkerie Project), giving Battletech more room to grow while they stay small.
I compared this video side by side with the tabletop miniature of Grayson Death Carlyle's Marauder, and you are right. The pod looks ugly. It seems to me that Catalyst did a great job with the Marauder. Marauder looks like a big industrial aerospace piece of heavy machinery.
Thank you for doing aside by side of the old matchbox toy.

A wonderful toy that's begging for some detail work, can't wait : ) Thanks for the excellent review.

Fak HG. They don't own macross.

Great review, was looking to get this
Amazon has it for 200 but the shipping is like 34 or so. Not sure I can justify getting one with the limited space I have...
Looking forward to the Destroyed Monster review.
you are going to love that one.... :)
THAT IS FUCKING AWESOME
Seems a little unfinished for the majestic Marauder. Can't wait for the Atlas to come out.
If only haha.
Awesome!!!
What is the scale of this toy?
This pic has you covered (from anymoon): anymoon.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/HMR-Defender-13.jpg
i want it
maruder
I wonder if anyone bought one of those and customized the paint job in Battletech colors?
Marauder II-c
I have. I painted it to look like the bounty hunter from the old books, green covered with curenty symbols

That's one ugly Marauder.
