Scorched Earth Toys @ anymoon.com reviews Bandai's Hi-Metal R Destroid Defender toy. How does it stack up against previous Defender toys? Is it fun? Check it out!
The hideous mustard yellow of the Yamato version would be a huge factor in my decision! The Hi-Metal Defender is great, but it's so tiny! But I suppose this scale allows a set that includes the Monster and other vehicles that would be stupidly large in a bigger scale.
I'm hoping Bandai will make an H-MR Destroid Phalanx! That's my favorite one of the Destroids next to this Defender. I'm not sure why they haven't produced that one yet.
About a year ago they had a display at a model show which featured their upcoming Hi Metal R figures like the Fire Valkyrie and VF-0s, etc, and they also had prototypes of the Tomahawk and Phalanx (and Miria's Queadluun Rau). I had given up hope, since I've been waiting seven years, but looks like they may still be released eventually. I hope the prices are still reasonable. I paid about $75 each for my Defender and Spartan, but they now go for crazy prices up to $300 or more.
I was able to get an HM-R destroid Monster for a good price. Now i need to find this Defender, the Spartan and hopefully the Tomahawk, if they ever release it. I think a few of these pieces displayed together gives you a good idea of the scales. I know they are not perfect 1/100, but i'd say it is close enough.
I was looking at these recently, too. deciding factor comes down to the paint job. Bandai is a nice olive/military brown while the Yamato is basically the color of baby food or mustard lol. Bandai wins again.
06:50. No, you can call them shells if you want. Remember the scale. Those shots are probably bigger than a .50 cal.
They are supposed to be 78mm cannons according to the specs, so yeah definitely shells.
It's nice to know that I could get a rifle man toy to use while playing battle tech.
I bought one just because I love the rifleman 3n

I would love to get this and the Tomahawk, but Bandai makes them too expensive.
