Anyway in this episode i work my way through the last of the jobs on the list which include painting all the fairings, doing some zinc plating on the last of the hardware and building the bike up and firing up the engine for the first time...... Will it run???
First thing to do was to wash the fairings to remove all traces of oil, grease grime and most importantly of all any traces of old waxes and polishes. one cleaned and dried i removed the decals on the surface of the paint. then proceeded to start sanding the panel down to get access tot he decals buried in the clear coat.
After the fairings were sanded and prepped for primer i cracked on with the tank, It was stripped down off camera then i used the heat gun to soften the glue on the tank protector so that i could easily remove it one removed i cleaned off the remaining glue with some thinners and i was ready for the next stage.
Paint stripper was used on the tank as i explained in the video so that i could get it back to bare metal and be sure that there was no rust lurking in the seams or any other dodgy repairs but im glad to say the tank was totally straight and i could clean it down and proceed straight onto etch and high build priming.
Once the paneols were prepped they had to be wet flatted to remove nay defects and leave a glass like surface for the next layer to lay on. This stage is where a good paint job is won or lost. The colour used was the original shade of Ducati Rosso correct for this year and model.
Once the base coat had dried i started the long process of fitting the decals this took a while as i had to measure everything several times and re-posistion multiple times just to be 100% sure that they were in the right place. Then once happy i sealed it all up with 5 good layers of clear so as to ensure the decals were sealed in well and to give a deep wet looking shine to the bike.
After that was done i still had a few pieces needing zinc plated so i set about that job and as per usual i have sped through it as a plan on making a zinc plating video soon so i didnt want to bore you with the details here. But im happy with the way the plating turned out and now the panels are dry i can crack on with getting the bike built up and running.
The assembly stage was pretty straight forward and self explanatory.
once fully assembled it was time to turn the key and see if she would fire up and im glad to report it did. Then it was a case of sitting back relaxing and having drink and admiring a job well done.
then as usual its the obligatory ending shots, sorry about my shaky footage i really need to invest in a gimble of some sorts, anyway thats getting off topic
As usual i really hope you enjoy this series of videos and leave a like and a comment to let me know what you think.
    Enjoy.

When would you like me to drop them off?
Also I think you deserved something better to celebrate.
That restoration was at least a Glenmorangie standard.
Looking forward to your next project which I could possibly supply.

I restored (well I actually had some professional assistance from a colleague) my KH250 B3 (the Green a Yellow one) some 25 years ago and never regretted it. I did regret that I sold it to an enthusiast (lives next door to my Bro) as I moved overseas but it still looks as good as new even after all these years and he still let's me ride it when I visit...JUST DO IT...:-D

The level of skill displayed here across all disciplines of mechanical and paintwork restoration is literally breathtaking. This machine is now so perfect that I should hesitate to use it on the road which could only disfigure the perfection of what has been achieved in bringing it to a condition which is surely better than when it left Bolognia. You have created a version of a fabulous motorcycle which surpasses mere factory production standards to represent a work of art. I salute you Sir !

My first brand new Ducati was a ‘93 900SS. This led to a used ‘95 900SS SP, then a ‘97 900SS CR. Loved them all. Funny, the humble CR was the most fun. The skinny back tire made turn-in quicker and the half-fairing made maintenance a breeze.

I found your channel because of the bike jobs. Then I found out about the other stuff. How do you accumulate the knowledge required to do this?! It's not like you're tip-toeing your way around. You really know what you're doing and you're very good at it! Even the video-related stuff is amazing!
I don't care if you say you've got lots of workshop manuals, or that you have spent thousands of hours studying and have years of experience, or three different master's degrees in engineering, that your father did it and your grandfather before him did it too!
There's only one suitable explanation: aliens!

Loved the Honda C90 and thought it couldn‘t get any better. Then the gorgeous looking TL. And now this ultracool Ducati. Car restos are cool. But take years. It is so satisfying seeing projects getting done and you just deliver. Thank you very much. Greetings form Germany :-)
