This changed my life. I was 247 lbs about 6 months ago. I started keto and became fat adapted and lost 20 pounds. After two months I plateaued and started IF for 18:6 and lost more weight and now just finished my first long fast of 42 hours. I am down to 215 and will keep this eating as part of my life. I have never felt better in my life doing IF and a monthly longer fast of 2-3 days. I don't miss the carbs at all. Thank you Dr Sten!

January 2021,422 pounds, 4XL shirt size, 52 size pants and they didn't fit. Started watching your videos and gradually taking the steps for IF. I eliminated sugar and high carb products. I began with 3 meals a day on a 8 hour window, then 2 on 6 hours and then OMAD. Became fat adapted and started walking 18-25 miles a week. Now down to 40 waist and 2 XL, I will weight myself on January 2022. Me and my family can't thank you enough Dr. SE. I'm 51 and never felt stronger and better in my life.

Intermittent fasting is so liberating. Yesterday I went until 2 pm until I was hungry. I had a coffee with some MCT oil and butter in the morning and then I went out, did 1h of intense exercise, peacefully went shopping after that. I was not stressed at all. It feels so much better not to have to think about snacks all the time. Instead I indulge in a lovely big meal once a day and another smaller dish in the evening. I honestly don't think I could even fit 3 meals into my day anymore because it's amazing to have so much extra free time 🙂🙂

After my first week on keto I started skipping dinner and snacks after lunch without thinking about it. Then I went to OMAD as an experiment. The hunger pains pass quickly with a little water and a distraction. After a little while with OMAD I switched to eating at 6pm so that at bedtime I was still full and no false hungers while trying to fall asleep. It's working great so far. I lost 25 # in a month and most importantly my A1C went down 6.7 to 6.0 in 1 month.

I love this video. I have been doing intermittent fasting for 3 years and has confirmed that it works. I went from 195lbs to 145lbs. Year 1, I lost 30lbs. Year 2, I lost 15lbs, and year 3, I lost 5 lbs. It was so hard at the beginning. I'm eating less frequently now but I have so much more energy. Intermittent fasting along with running/walking is the cheapest program you will ever have to invest into.

THIS video is a prescription that I wish I would have had 20 years ago! I have VERY stubborn weight. But I have lost 33 pounds so far by eating every 4th day. That’s just how long it takes MY body to burn off what I eat. Once your body adjusts (and it will), the hunger, headaches, and low energy go away. I’m in a great mood, and I exercise every weekday (not Saturday or Sunday) for an hour or more on a cross country ski machine. I am so much happier and healthier now than before I did this. I testify that this really does work, and is healthier.

Love your content. As someone morbidly obese, I started out at 454 lbs in June, I have found it very difficult to eat correctly and fast when I am around my family. I find it easier to do the right things when I am on work trips losing 30 lbs in a three week trip. So I knew that it can be done. In the last 10 days I have lost 13 lbs and noticed that I can lose a couple lbs a day if I don’t eat anything or just one meal. The best part is I am not hungry. It’s a good feeling to stop at a fast food restaurant (nothing else open) when I’m with my family and not order anything because I’m not hungry. Now down 67 lbs and feel better than I have for years. Most of this is just because of fasting even though I try to eat Keto but I’m not very consistent. Next goal 300 by June. I know it can be done.

Thanks Doc, you have, succesfuly, got me into Intermitant fasting and the Keto diet. My main problem was giving up carbohydrates, nothing worked properly untill I kicked the carbs into touch. Now I eat at around 12:00 and agian at about 18:00, then nothing untill 12:00 the next day. I am now drinking more water than I used to, my energy levels are up, the 18 hours without food is just so easy and, having switched into Keto I have lost 14lbs weight in the last six weeks, I am 71 and, I have never felt better. I must say that since trying this new regimen I am eating less and feeling more satisfied.

I agree Dr. Berg. After watching your videos last year, I began intermittent fasting. I eat one meal a day at about 4:00 p.m. - real food! I enjoy this type of fasting/eating, it's way easier on my slim pocketbook (I'm a widow) and it's incredibly healthy. I'm a 73 year old female and feel great. My weight wasn't really a problem I weighed about 110 lbs. and am 4'9") but I wanted to feel better and you had said intermittent fasting is a good way to feel healthier and have more energy. You sure were right! My weight now stays around 102 - 104 lbs. and because my bones are small, this weight actually feels better on me. A real plus is that, sadly for families, the price of food is going way up, but I don't spend as much. as I did on a traditional diet/meal plan. Thank you!!

So well explained. Love it. I’m on a 48h fast, half way through now and I feel excellent.. no hunger, and I feel so clear. Extra joy and interpretive. I worked out in the gym, also walked for 10km half in the morning before Gym, and half in the evening, still have great energy. This is my 2nd 48h fast. I also do regularly one meal a day most days but closer to my cycle I give in to 2meals and snacks, but still leave at least 18h of rest window regardless. Hope everyone gives it a try!

I do exercises in the morning while fasting, I started this routine for about 2 weeks now, the first week I was able to keep it 5 days, then I did less on the second week, only about 2 or 3, however, now on my third week, I’m started to feel some sort of anxiety afterward if I workout during the fast, I don’t know if it’s the intensity of the exercise or what, I wanted to know if you have such anxious feeling after exercise when fasted?
I did my workout first thing after I got up, then I prepare my lunch and shower for work, I continue to fast until noon, which gives me about 16 hours fasting time each day.

As a mom of 7, totally agree about kids eating healthy, until I had “snacks” in the house, healthy snacks, my kids were the most picky eaters. It ruins your mood cuz you spend money time to prepare the meal and at the end your tossing it into trash. Years ago, I took first cereal out, than slowly all the snacks and now it brings a joy to my heart watching those kids eat!!! I know they get all their nutrients through food and they absolutely love it!!! One of their favorites is bone broth, also giving good time between meals helps too! Just sharing what Dr. said is absolutely true in real life. Just try to make real meals, not from a can 🙈., it gets easier with time., you learn to do it. This is a fantastic video full of wonderful advice. I began intermittent fasting almost two years ago and was able to lose 70 lbs and have kept it off. I feel like I’ve got my life back and have more energy than I’ve felt in a very long time. Most days I have OMAD and don’t feel overly hungry. There are the occasional days, usually after I’ve exercised heavy the day before, that I am hungry and can’t wait until dinner. So I don’t, I will eat something nutritious and have two meals that day. I also find that getting plenty of sleep and water makes a big difference in how I feel. Doing intermittent fasting can be challenging at times, especially in the beginning, so my suggestion would be to go slow and gradual. You will be amazed over a short period of time the progress you can make. Good luck to all of you!

I've been doing keto and IF for about four years now and everything Dr. Ekberg says is golden. Basically, I just checked out this video to see if there's anything I've missed or any new knowledge about IF. Nope! It's just as easy as he says! I eat at noon and around 5:00 pm. NO SNACKS!

It was hard at first but after losing 10lbs, my body felt so much more lighter. I feel sooo good! I don't feel as hungry anymore. I've been avoiding carbs, sugar, oil. Just been eating salad and grilled chicken drumsticks once a day usually around 6pm. Dessert is just fruits which I sometime make into a fruit salad topping with greek yogurt its sooo satisfying. I don't think I want to go back to that unhealthy life style. It was starting to be difficult for me to walk and I felt exhausted. That's when I decide that I need to lose weight and take better care of my body. It is sooo worth it and pretty affordable :)

Sten, thank you so much! I’m finding it hard to come up with words to describe to you exactly what I like about your video lectures without getting emotional, but I just want to say that I love them! I’ve watched as many as I can. I don’t even know how many more I have to watch, but I want to watch all of them… The most interesting thing to me is the intermittent fasting stuff, because I’ve been wanting to try it for such a long time, and it’s been very hard for me. But watching this video and the one about mistakes with intermittent fasting have been very very helpful for me today with breaking down the wall of mystery behind how to do it, and how to slowly integrate it into your life. I think what was holding me back was thinking that if I couldn’t do it all, that I couldn’t do any of it. I’ve done really well with a 16:8 hour fasting:eating schedule, but I haven’t seen any results. Now I know I have to go down to 1 meal/day or a whole day or two of fasting. I’m feeling good about it! Thank you so much!

The easiest rule for beginners is to start slowly with time restricted eating then progress in small increments until they feel comfortable with a 16 hour fast. That's what I did to start and now do OMAD or 2 meals a day. 🤓🤓

UCTV lectures and your channel changed our life for the better. I went down from 106 kg to 93, my wife similar. Kids eat normal, but it is not a problem for us to have a dougnut lying on the table all day long. Now I have one important question to you, I have my gallbladder removed since 15 years. Dr. Ekberg, I am very thankful for your videos. I have been practicing intermittent fasting for a year. Generally, I eat my first meal between 11:00 and 12:00 and the second between 5:00 an 6:00 pm. I find it easy and rewarding. I feel light and healthy, I do a lot a work around the house, I garden and I walk briskly. However, I have a serious problem with my cholesterol. I am told is genetics and I believe it since both my parents had high cholesterol all their lives. So for the last three months, I wanted to transition to a plant base diet. I ate lots of veggies grown in my garden and bought organic when possible. I ate fish occasionally and started to eliminate dairy (hard for me since I am east European). I thought I was doing great until I had my blood work 2 days ago. The results are back. My total cholesterol is 407 and I am under a lot of pressure from my doctor to take statins. I tried before, They make me feel miserable. I would really like to travel to your clinic. I really need help.

I had was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes after having 700+ blood glucose and being admitted to the hospital. I'm doing IF now and Keto even though the doctors wanted me on a typical diabetic diet (a diet with no medical proof of diabetes remission). After a mere two months, I have a fasting BG of 95 or so typically and after eating a meal it's lower than prediabetic. My belly fat is also leaner (I was 400 lbs, so it's not gone yet lol) and my face has started to get leaner and less puffy. Also, my joints are working again (I seriously could barely walk).
I'm not someone who fad diets or really even diets at all. I kind of always knew that sugar was killing me and I watched these videos meaning to get clean and lose weight. Now, if I want to push my diabetes into remission, I need to start putting it into practice. Don't wait until your pancreas and liver are choked with fat cells and you're diabetic and dying. Dr. Ekberg is right, and the science is there to support it.

Me and my wife started doing an 18-6 IF and it’s worked wonders. All we really do is just skip breakfast, eat at noon (no bread, sugar, or pasta), and eat again at 6pm that night. Then repeat. I have seen significant changes, my mental status is great, my work in the gym has improved, and my sleep has improved. All from literally skipping breakfast and no snacking on breads or sugars. The bloating that I always felt like I had in my belly had went away, so no longer feeling like a balloon. I am 6’3 and went from 233lbs to 209lbs and feel great!!! Give it a try if you are on the fence, heck even add in some freshly squeezed lemon water if you are feeling crazy!

Yeah, this is crazy. Crazy how well it works! Thank you for what you are doing. Cut back carbs first, within a couple of days, felt fantastic, no longer need three or more cups of coffee and nap to get through the day. Went on to intermittent fasting, 24 hours day one, then on to 18:6, trying to keep carbs low. Lost 10lbs in a week. Plateaued for a few weeks, largely due to traveling for work and finding it more difficult to avoid carbs. Didn't gain though, and dropped another 4 lbs in the last week. I have been amazed how quick and easy it has been to be on an 18:6 fasting/feeding schedule, and how much better I feel when I stay on plan. Biggest challenge is trying to convince others that this works!

I can't thank you enough for making these videos, they resonate with me to a great extent, especially since my Hab1c test in August was 44 (pre-diabetic in the UK). Thanks to them, since November I've been intermittently fasting (18:6) daily and including two 24h-fastings per week to train my body to do better. Now, my next target is two-day fastings during this Christmas season. These efforts aim to achieve balance in my metabolism and to put me back in control, especially since I realise how unbalanced my diet has been in the last few years - especially during and after lockdown. Furthermore, daily blood-sugar home tests are encouraging, as the collected data reflects the positive impact of fasting, smaller portions and exercising. Other noticeable changes have been low inflammation in my abdomen, loss of belly fat, better sleep quality and more energy. Once again, I am deeply grateful for the honesty, depth and directness in clarifying the many myths surrounding our health habits.

However by not consuming all day my blood sugars are all normal, checked progressively over the day with no metformin taken. Just 7lbs has made my clothes fit better.
The time I used to spend preparing snacks and my other meals + the sluggishness felt post meal added up to hours of distractions and wasted time. Mental focus and energy are all greatly improved. My water intake is a little low but I am addressing this. Hot water, lemon juice a slice. With some ACV and a pinch of cayenne pepper is a daily must i know like alot.
Thanks for the encouragement and knowledge tools. Got some way to go but I want this for myself better health, mental wellness and more energy to live my life. Thank you Dr E.

Quite the opposite for myself while fasting, which has been a pleasant experience on so many levels. We have been eating low carb, once a day for the most part, for a couple of years. I just started doing some 3 & 5 day fasts, & I have never felt better. More energy/clarity of thought/problem solving/creativity/great mood, etc. Still working on getting better sleep, which is an ongoing trial & error process. After working long hours for so many decades, my body became conditioned to light sleep, & on avg 4-5 hrs a night. This is my current focus, & I'm not giving up because it's so important to longevity & overall health & well-being.

I am currently on day 5 of fasting (only water, tea, coffee). I feel great. Attempting 6 full days.
It’s taken me a few months to get to this level. It does get easier, I started with omad, 23 hour fasting, then I tried 36 hours, then 72 hours, and 90 hours, now I’m on day 5 of 6 days.
I used to struggle with skipping dinner, realizing I am able to fast several days is like finding out i have a superpower.

I’ve been working with Dr Ekberg most of this year and I’m now down to a 4 hour eating window. My worst days are when I have to meet somebody for lunch because I’m just not hungry and don’t want to rudely just drink tea. But I guess some variety may be good so I make it a 2mad day and start fresh the next day. It took me 8 months to get to 20 hours of fasting but it now feels more natural than any eating style I’ve tried. I can’t imagine ever returning to 3 meals a day 😊 Thanks Dr for all your guidance.

My wife and I love food. Not a little bit, either. We LOVE food. Yet, we found it extremely easy to begin intermittent fasting. We just did it. No nudging it baby steps, we just chose to eat one meal a day, and that would be dinner.
We eat once a day, between 7 and 10 pm. We eat as much as we want for dinner at that time, and then we don't eat at any other time.
This process has been an unbelievably easy step to take for our health.

I've embraced the keto way of life with intermittent fasting for 3 months now for the purpose of dealing with type 2 diabetes. 3 months ago my fasting blood sugar was 300. Yesterday, after 20 hours of not eating my blood sugar was 95 at 6 pm. I was very happy! The numbers are higher in the morning, but I'm so very glad to see it below 100 at 77 years of age. Watching your posted videos have helped tremendously! I've also done 3 days of fasting recently. Question: I use a green vegetable powder (Vibrance) more than preparing veggies everyday & is that okay?

Love that dawn phenomenon, don't you? Congrats on getting that low fasting number. My grandmother has Type 2 (as does my mother and I) and she's in her 90s with no serious complications. Don't listen to people when they say you can't be healthy and happy.

I love your videos and they have made a very big difference in my life. Since July I've gone from 128kg to 110kg, and I am steadily losing weight while not being hungry at all. More than anything, I love that I know why what I do is good for me and I don't get swayed by people who keep repeating misinformation they have learnt through the years. However, it's not the first time you mention that intermittent fasting (+keto) reduce cooking time and hassle in the kitchen. To be honest I've had the opposite experience. Most obese people spend close to zero time in the kitchen, if they are like me. I used to put pre-prepared meals in the microwave, pizzas in the oven, and boil pasta with premade sauces: hardly any time or skills needed, to say nothing of sweets and snacks that I'd just have to unwrap. Since July my time in the kitchen has increased significantly to acquire cooking skills. Although there are many fast and easy options, I have to make my own keto bread, keto dough for pizzas, batch-cooking soup for the week, etc. Yes, the meals are fewer, but a lot of time is needed to keep them tasty. All this of course from the perspective of an ex-food addict who had zero cooking skills. I don't know if I'm the only one who has experienced this, and I don't mean to complain in any way because I know it's time well spent, but any advice would be so welcome. FYI, I am a teacher ( = always close to burnout) + I live alone ( = noone can help me with house chores)

Question, when I do prolonged fasting, 48h-72h+. Is Lemon water with a Sea salt okay to drink basically throughout the entire fast or just partially with ''normal'' water? And for other supplements such as vitamin B, D & Cod liver oil, do I stop taking these supplements completely during the fasting period? Thank you. Dina videos är guld värda. I've been on IF for months and am currently on my way to OMAD now, you're right when you said there is no going back once you started fasting. I recently went on a vacation and the hotel comes with international buffet that I haven't had for ages so I went all in and had all the bread and dessert that's available for 2 days. When I came back from my trip I was feeling so sick with terrible migraine and the doctor said I am experiencing a "sugar hangover", which I never know such a thing exist until now. With that I swear to myself I will never treat my body this way anymore

In my case, intermittent fasting happened naturally as a consequence (I believe) of eating low carb. After a few months of eating low carb, I just wasn't hungry until at least midday, sometimes longer. Sometime OMAD is fine for me. Lost a lot of weight and changed my diabetes status to "pre-diabetic" from being a confirmed type2!
