I once engaged in massive trade relations with Brazil, and was a close ally with them for the whole game, BUT they were getting a bit close to the religious victory, so I cut off all trade with them and deployed the entirety of my nuclear Arsenal on them. They didn't even have a chance for retaliation. After that I nuked France, the Kongo, and a bit of China, while simultaneously finishing up a space program. The entirety of my economy was devoted to space, helicopters and nukes.

Weirdly enough, the only time I ever feel bad for nuclear warfare in my games is usually during civ 6. Something about seeing your allies crumble to dust, others rise and fall, and you perspiring on, just to end another whole huge civilization you saw grow, really just gives me chills.

Depending on map size, some of these nuke explosions seem larger than Tsar Bomba's.
They are the equivalent
of Tsar Bomba, in the game there are two types of nukes, a 2 tile one, and a 3 tile one.

ben normal missile explodes before hitting targets, rocket artillery rockets doesn't even show trajectory, and stupid these machine gun fight is just unbearable.
I hate it when the projectile of rocket artillery doesn't connect to the target. Looks weird!
Depends on the detonator you use. Against soft targets you chose detonators that activate at a distance for more shrapnel. If you attack bunkers you use detonators that will only detonate after they penatrated the target. If you attack hard targets you got for some nasty stuff that penetrates and then fills the inside with literal fiery death. For Targets that are easy to hit but won't activate the detonator because the armor is to thin (the penetrator would just fly right through it doing basically no damage at all) you just use a detonator that detonates directly on contact because the target won't withstand the explosion itself

Remember in Civ Revolution when the manhattan project was a wonder, so only one could be built ever and you only got 1 nuke? And everyone had SDI defence? Yeah Gandhi behaved back then.
I wish there would be multiple vehicles within one unit. These individual units makes the wars look so small.
You can put up to 3 units inside 1.
Don't worry, civ is easily modded. The RED Mod for civ5 did this perfectly.

My first ever victory on CIV 6 was science with Japan.
Didn't even bother with making thermonuclear weapons... I was making so much science per turn and got every scientist and engineer...I think I finished all 3 launches within like 30 turns

Nuclear age yet the half of the map is dark... they should make the position of all cities visible after certain age... just like in reality we all know about all the cities... that there are.
you can launch a satelite, then you see positions of all cities.
Justvlike in civ 5 you can get the satellite in the information era. All undiscovered tiles will become fog of war and you will see the cities

It is pretty spooky with that eerie quietness after the nuke was dropped.
This just happened today. So, I play Civ 6 mobile, and for the last week or so I’ve been playing as Russia on a real earth start map. I expanded rapidly and control most of Europe except for small portions of Scotland, southeastern Europe, and Scandinavia. Well, for much of this game I’ve had an alliance with Gandhi, Saladin, and Roosevelt. We all got along well for a while. The only war I had was one against Japan who had tried to invade Hattusa (I was the Suzzerian of the city state) and I declared a protectorate war on japan. Japan eventually went for peace and we made amends. We eventually had another war and I ended up capturing the Japanese city of Sendai. Japan went for peace and things were good for a while. Then today, I noticed that Gandhi, for whatever reason, had decided that it was in his best interest to train as many observation balloons as he could and fill the sky with them to the point where every tile had one of these balloons on them. India had so many balloons that they were spilling over into my territory in Sendai. Just... so... many... of... them. Of course this meant that I couldn’t move my workers to those tiles in my own territory to remove the countless forts Japan had built in the area bordering India. I eventually got tired of it and tried sending jets to patrol right next to some of these balloons to maybe get Gandhi to move them out of my territory but he didn’t budge. So I let our alliance and friendship expire and didn’t renew it. When Gandhi tried to renew the friendship, I politely declined. Two turns later, Gandhi and Japan declares a joint war on me. Real smart move dude. I had thermonuclear weapons at this point. I had already built some silos and had 3 nuclear submarines, two warheads, and two more being built. I immediately nuked the next Japanese city over and then two Indian cities and immediately took Mumbai, one of the two Indian cities that got nuked. I then started moving on Agra. Hattusa, Kabul, and Carthage were all in coalition with me, so I had free movement toward the Indian subcontinent. I had the advantage of several areodrome districts stocked with fighter jets and bomber jets all within strike distance of Agra and the surrounding area. After finishing my turn, Gandhi then launched attacks on my patrolling squadron of fighters and eventually shot it down after 4 attacks. He also launched an offensive on Hattusa and Kabul. On my next turn, I had obviously lost a squadron and the modern armor that took Mumbai was lost to radiation. I was holding Sendai and Moscow as the front line cities. Japan was trying to attack but the defenses in Sendai were fully operational and I had a mechanized infantry in the city and a machine gun army in the military base. Oh and also I had an MLRS “army” nearby and it was helping. At the same time, I was launching bombing runs in support of Hattusa and Kabul and was clearing out many of the balloons near Sendai with the mechanized infantry and fighters. India was trying to go around and attack Moscow from the north with some modern armor, but my nearby airfield had 3 fighters and 3 bombers and they made quick work of one of the tanks. I even sent in a modern tank of my own with a helicopter over to my airfield to defend it. With my turn over, Gandhi continued the attack on the city states and attacked my military engineer that had only just built a missile silo. Now my turn is up, I notice that the planes were coming from the airport at Agra, so I flew in bomber jets and bombed the airport, destroying the structures and most of Gandhi’s aircraft, save one fighter which he moved to the city center of Agra on his turn. I also moved in a missile cruiser and a nuclear submarine to the coast of Hattusa to support against the tanks moving on the city. I also sent another tank, a mechanized infantry, mobile SAM, a machine gun, and a helicopter toward Agra. My bombers had also begun bombing the military base at this point. My fighters were finishing up with the balloons. By this point, those two other thermonuclear warheads were finished. With the first one, I hit Delhi and one other city beyond Agra, not only decimating the cities (Agra was just outside the blast radius) but also destroying a cluster of military bases and airports. With the second nuke I hit the Indian city that was near Hong Kong because it had a fully stocked airport. So with India’s major ability to retaliate neutralized, I ended my turn and had placed an order for two more nukes. Gandhi still had two more modern armor though and attacked my modern armor and helicopter that had already reached Hattusa and Kabul. His turn ended and my mechanized infantry reached the area with the machine gun not far behind. I finished off his military base with the bombers and attacked it with the mechanized infantry, taking the position. His remaining modern armor were then destroyed and I began bombing Agra itself. My turn ended but Gandhi still had some fight left. He pulled in two more modern armor. His one remaining fighter jet and the city boned my mechanized infantry and destroyed it. One of his tanks then attacked my machine gun unit and dealt heavy damage to it. My next turn saw that tank destroyed and more bombing of Agra. The city was decimated enough to where the defenses were gone and the city’s health was 100% diminished. I then took the city with my modern armor and decided to make peace with both India and Japan. So yeah, that happened.
so here’s the standings of each side post war-
Russia (me)
Casualties: 1 mechanized infantry, one modern armor (radiation), one fighter squadron.
Gains: two Indian cities and access to the Indian Ocean.
India-
Casualties: countless observation balloons, several warrior monks, 7-8 modern tanks, at least 20 aircraft, 4 irradiated/decimated cities, 2 cities lost.
Japan-
Casualties: one irradiated/decimated city, 10 scouts
Holy crap 😳 That must've been pretty rough. What difficulty were you on?
Settler difficulty believe it or not. This highlights one of the issues I have with Civ 6. Settler difficulty is supposed to be the level for new players to get their feet wet, yet the AI advances ridiculously fast, and has all sorts of buffs even on settler and fights aggressively. I was relatively new to Civ 6 at the time this happened.

The helicopter animation looks a little bugged when it attacks a unit in a district. Otherwise, nice to see some modern combat, even if a lot of it was slaughtering out-of-date city-state units. Nukes look great.

I really like the look of Civ 6's map and some of the animations are so cool to watch (the sub firing a missile is the best IMO). But I'm really peeved with the cartoon-y styles. Civ II and Civ 5 ditched the cartoons but here they are again. C'mon guys- why do I have to be reminded I'm playing a game when I'm trying to rule the world?!

Kinda annoying how helicopters always do that little 360 after attacking. Other than that everything looks good. Nukes look fucking devastating, and hopefully planes will actually be useful in this game.

I kind of wish the mechanized infantry APCs had some human soldiers with them. It would make them stand out as infantry rather than a different kind of tank. Actually, if the troops piled out when combat began that would be pretty cool.
they have two infantrymen with assault rifles with them, i agree with the part about have an animation of infantry dismounting, especially when capturing cities, same goes for helis

I'm loving the part where helicopters and fucking tanks are going against catapults.
So far, I prefer most of the fight animations in Civ 6 compared to Civ 5. However, I wish they would've kept some. I prefer the rocket launcher animation from Civ5 over the new one, and the Plane that drops the nuke doesn't seem to get away fast enough. The Civ 5 animation of the plane looping in and out and there being a slight pause before the explosion was better. Also are the submarines using airburst warheads or something?
I also dislike that you still can't shoot down nukes like you can in real life. They should introduce electronic warfare such as the EMP that wont blow a city up, but knockout the "power" out of a target city or tiles, which hinders you from getting production and gold from improved tiles or a city at all until you get a military engineer or something. I think it's neat.
That sounds like a good idea. They should have some sort of nuke counter. I was dissapointed that they didn't have robots as a unit.
I have no idea what the submarines are using but they don't seem to do much damage at all. Weird.
Those airbursts are missiles being shot down by a SAM before they reach their target. If they get shot down it happens about 75% of the way to their target.

Not sure what they are called but they don't seem to do much damage.

Airbursts? Cluster munitions? Interceptions?
It's when nuke submarines attack ground units
SAMs and Anti-Air are support units that can be stacked with regular units. If they are within one hex of the target, the missile will be shot down (explosion in the air with fiery embers coming down). That is the only defense against nuclear attack.

I can't say anything about the combat itself, because I haven't played the game yet, but the combat animations have taken a step back IMO compared to Civ 5. At least outside of nukes.
Step back as in number of units but step up in terms of animations (especially the ancient to medieval units)

it's really satisfying to completely obliterate another civs entire armed forces in just a few turns using a whole variety of your units
I wonder how the hell an helicopter is bombarded by a catapult. Unless the catapult is hooked up to a laser targeting sensor and employs advanced servo-motors, it doesn't make a lot of sense. I understand that for balancing reasons there can't be a unit good vs all but still, logic.
Say what? You spent nearly 6,000 years growing that city to 26 population? With a single push of a button I can fix that for ya.

There is, and fallout is a lot worse this time around because it deals lethal damage to units that end turn inside it.
I wish for following things for nuclear warfare.
1. Camera quaking when thermonuclear explosion ocurs too close to it.
2. Nuclear fallout stays forever and requires brand new enginneer unit (3/3 charges left) to clean up and fully expends unit for each cleaned tile.
3. Units stepped on tile with fallout, in additional to receiving damage, get permanent status effect named "CANCER" which slowly kills affected unit with NO WAY to save him from impending doom.
4. Each tile with fallout deals -1 housing & -4 food to all cities within 3 tiles.
5. Too many nukes exploded (depending on map size, thermonuclear deal more damage to planet) result in "PLANET CRACKED LIKE EGG" loss for all civs.
6. Completing "CURE FOR CANCER" project eliminates effects 3&4 for host civ.

nukes on here is a way to remove a city and keep it out of the battle for a while thermonukes are to get rid of a couple citys and keep them out of the map for a realy long time
