That lion boss at about 1:19 looks like a Serosh, lacerated spirit, sanguine noble, and a Morgott mix. It even had that Hoarah Loux stomp.

I'm 90% sure the big boss on the cover is a dragon communion member. His armor looks alot like the Drake Knight armor and he has some fire attacks too. Plus his helm has a dragon on it. So not some kind of corrupted Miquella.
With the snake motif, and with things being left the way they were after you beat Rykard, my money is on that boss being the offspring of Tanith and Rykard.

Messmer's skinny length hands are very similar to Miquella's corpse in Mohg's area. Maybe he is a corrupted Miquella that found a way to grow older but with a cost? And then when you defeat him you send him free of that curse and lay the foundations for the future Elden Tree in the Lands Between?
We all thought he is miquella but actually he's not . He is new character and new name of course
Actually Miyazaki confirmed that this is in the same timeline as the Lands Between, it's just a world built in the shadow of the actual Lands Betwwen.
