I always love upgrades that help your character grow or do more in some way other than just new weapon or armor (which yeah is also fun and can’t wait for those). It would even be cool to get a new mechanic like, now you can duplicate ancient dragon stones or something idk
I was already preparing for NG+ and gathering all the weapons/spells/incans I wanted. Then helldivers 2 came out and haven’t been back on it since. This reminded me I need to finish my own check list
One thing I definitely did for my second and third character was limit how many weapons I maxed out, on top of stocking up on lesser upgrade materials. I assume that there will be more ancient stones in the DLC but for all I know, my dream weapon will be the first thing I pick up. So I'll definitely be ready on that end.
How I prepared. Made a new game. Sweated it out through a few bosses (two story bosses) margit and Godrick and smaller ones. Farmed 10m runes and now I'm level 193 😊
I just started a new character and play through the game again and up to Level 150 and go into the DLC with it first. Then i will go with my original character on Level 350 on NG +3 which has every weapon x2, armor and talisman and is ready to upgrade around 50 weapons to +24 to get all the stuff from the DLC and try out new weapons.
I feel like there is isn’t too much to prep for. The dlc sounds like it’s going to basically bring all players down to the same dmg output roughly. A new type of power maybe will need to be progressed? Which would be amazing.
As someone who just finished the main story on their 1st playthrough ( using your Nebula Knight build !!!! Which beat the Fire Giant 1st try !!!! ) I appreciate this information. I missed a lot along the way especially in the late game and was wondering if I should start NG +1. This video convinced me to stay in my current game and really sweep all the zones for these items I am missing :) Thank you for your hard work !
Nice. Another thing is that NG+ does reset the Great Runes you've got. So if you're attached to playing with any cool Great Rune, keep in mind you'll need to obtain it again in NG+.
I would recommend going through NG+ and only doing the things you missed, all the main bosses and collecting any weapons/gear you might want. Also getting doubles of certain weapons you might want to dual wield. For example I got a double of every weapon you can dual wield that you only get one of in your first playthrough in my NG+ run like Rivers of Blood katana and Melanias golden alloyed sword cause I’m a Dex/Arcane build and leveled them all up. Also collected a bunch of smithing stones and bell bearings to go into the DLC with. Maybe browse through the wiki and see what weapons and gear that you may have missed that you want to go into the DLC with. Good hunting 😎
@@travixogreat tips thank you! I was doing a night comet build before swapping to the nebula knight, so definitely want to try duel welding staff of loss to make that comet super deadly!
Another good tip if you haven’t done so already. Get the Walking Mausoleum’s prepped because we’re most likely going to have a few more remembrance bosses. And it’s best to have them all knocked down and ready so you can go back to them and duplicate to get both items from the DLC remembrances. I’m also level 526 on NG+8. It’s gonna be a hell of a time 😂😂
I'm 618 on the first journey. Legit haven't thought of the game in a year. I went super overboard when the announcement came and mad3 a new character and did a super amount of grinding thinking it would come sooner than it did.
on my... 24th playthrough I think. I dont like doing NG+ in Elden Ring so all I do is make new characters and try to rush getting my weapons and armors for my build.
I picked up elden ring late, about 6 months ago, timing was effing perfect tbh. I've got 180hrs, in ng+ and have most essential build items. My body is ready.
One thing to note is that you no longer have to reacquire the miner's and somber's bell bearings in NG+ if you already acquired them all in your first playthrough.
Mimic tear, and equip a high lv katana. (nagikaba + bloodflame blade incantation) Cheese him. He deals bleed, but is also very vulnerable to bleed. I killed him in 1 minute
Good video with some useful tips, I think Ill wait for the DLC to come out with the new weapons, skills, abilities and balancing to then make my decision on what kind of build I want in a new fresh save
Watching this just made me feel good that I played Elden ring and got everything on my own. Everything you mentioned I have and got on my 6 play through of the game. I’m so ready for this DLC!😎
I have hundreds of hours in the game with many playthroughs and multiple builds. But I have been forcing myself to not play it since the announced the DLC a year ago. I will do a fresh character. I just cant decide what build to go for. It will likley depend a lot on the new weapon classes.
Elden Ring was my first souls/souls like game. Since, I’ve played Sekiro, Lies of P, WoLong, Star Wars games(which are easier). I think I should be ok.
What we wanna keep in mind for the dlc is ; the omens seems to be a HUGE PART of the dlc , and omens are very weak against holy and fire dmg , wich means the faith build might be more efficient or at least for a good part of the dlc , miyasaki also confirmed that radhan and mogh must be down to unlock the land of shadow , so a starting player will have quite a lot to do to get to the land of shadow , BUT , he also confirmed that there will be a new mechanic introduce in the land of shadow to augment your character , some sort of new levelling system , so if your character is over level 400 , you can still power up , and probably still have to explore , so even if your ng + 7 and already have pretty much everything figured out you will still feel lost , miyasaki also confirmed that it is not a dream or a time travel thingy , it is a new map
@@NoName-qd6vp lotta reference in the trailer , the golden lion boss is filled with horns and what is under the disguise looks a lot like omens arms and legs , also the golden lions statue seems to be a little everywhere , its all just assomptions really but it sure looks like that
@@mathperreault2090 I see. I think the lion boss is made from a bunch of people underneath it and they are attempting to mimic an actual omen (they probably aren't omens themselves). The reason for this is because we could be interacting with the culture that existed before the age of the Erdtree. Omens in that time were revered iirc.
@@NoName-qd6vp its pretty hard to identify , it is clearly a costume that is pretty easy tu realise , but the costume seems to have many kind of horns on it , as if some of them were actually from the wearer underneath the costume , and i tought the omens were designated as it for being born outside of the grace of the greater will , since the greater will wasnt around in the begining how could they be revered ?
When the dlc trailer came out I got super motivated to do a completely new character and use a build I never use in souls games. Im making my first faith build and it’s so much fun. Im also still finding new things in the game after 200 hours
Get some black flame spells for endgame, maliketh, radagon/elden beast, and I think Godfrey all have super high faith resistance aside from black flame From someone who loves faith and got fucked my first endgame with it 😂
If you’re doing faith go and kill maliketh. The black blade incant was the best I used in the game it shredded the Elden beast and radagon and should help you in the DLC
how do we even know if we will be using the same smithing stones for DLC weapons? if the way we level up will be different why would the way we level up our weapons be the same..? just a thought.
In my 1st elden ring play through now only radagon is left and malenia so should I enter into dlc after killing malenia and after finishing dlc do the ending ??? Pls help
I have a new game character near end game at level 125 and a NG++ character near end game with Mohg defeated. I stopped short of burning the Erdtree, just in case that has some relevance or aesthetical difference in the DLC area. The first DLC run will be with the new game to experience how the difficulty should properly feel.
Im fired up! I started a ng+ just got this! Highly recommend as it does make you fall in love with Elden Ring all over again. First playthrough i went Dex/Fth this time I'm running Str/Int!! Hyped for bosses, weapons, and of course FextraLifes lulling voice hiding is through all of it. See y'all in the shadow lands!
I just got Elden ring around December as my first souls game, had difficulty with godrick and rykard and the fire giant, when I got to mohg and lost to him twice I remembered I picked up a crystal tear that negates his ability, slapped that thang on and got the W instantly
I'm on NG+7 RL139 STR build for both invading and PvE. I already prepared my save for the DLC, beaten every boss up to Fire Giant (Don't want to burn Melina because she might be in the DLC) and collected everything/touched every grace and every stake for coop.
Just started my first NG+ and enjoying it so much more. Definitely prepping and already preordered. Never thought I’d love this game as much as I do for a first Souls game.
Personally I’m going to rush in to the dlc as Vyke and I’m going to have beef with everything and everyone in the dlc. I’ve played through elden ring 3 times and than I spent some time off the game and I’ve now completed dark souls 3, 3 times and now I’m going to play elden ring a 4th time. May chaos take the world!!
I have three characters I’ve made but I’m going in with my original character from launch, Nocturno Culto!!! I’m half way through new game plus with that character and at level 220.
I started a whole new game, did literally all of the games content, grabbed everything I could, and parked myself outside the DLC entrance. My body is ready.
You make really good points. I'm super glad I came across your video. Most people I know have been saying " new playthrough" !!! I think you have good idea's. Thank you
your post was a desision makin video for me. Just installed Elden Ring 5 days ago and i just finished it, got 90% achievements, all the seals / talisman, maxed out flasks and bought about all bell bearings and have about 10 ancients of each then i farmed my Bloodhound bloodloss build on the farmin spot with elden beast sword till i got to lvl 300. I was about to go to NG+ but just watched your video and realised im in the perfect spot to wait it out till DLC and jump right in while remaining on Base game difficulty.
I feel like an experience of this depth really deserves a fresh, full playthrough. You'll get a lot more mileage out of the new gear from the DLC if you can enjoy it more in the main game, too.
Yeah I agree about using more advanced builds, I have two that are way over into journey 3 or 4. But based on a lot of your builds I also have a lot of 150 builds too. Definitely great advice for new players. Great vid👏👏👏👏
currently playing first time elden ring, beat first main main boss and on the door step of fighting 2nd one. (i beat bad dragon dude and im about to beat a teacher at wizards of waverly place)
3:31 Important to know about the Talisman Pouch thing is that the DLC requires Radahn being beat as well, so realistically it's dealer's choice as to which great rune boss you do and since you have to defeat one anyways. Personally I say just go defeat Morgott in the capital since the 4th slot is right before him anyways and doing that will also unlock another chunk of the map for more weapons/armor options. EDIT: completely overlooked the whole respec at Rennala factor so honestly her + Radahn would be the two earliest ones to get that pouch
I’m on NG3. Each of the NG’s have been really gradual in terms of difficulty jumps. Actually, I was overleveled at the end of my first playthrough after getting everything done that I could, so my first NG+ was significantly easier than any other playthrough. I think I’m just gonna take my NG3 character in, instead of throwing hundreds of hours of grinding, collecting, etc.. away. I have every weapon and talisman, all the weapons I like are maxed out. My flasks are maxed out. I find rushing through souls games on subsequent playthroughs to be a chore. I spend more time reading things online, hunting down things and making sure I do everythig in the right order. It just ruins the game. I’d rather freeball.
Do you plan on making a longer, new guide "Almost all weapons, armor and items you want before the DLC" - playthrough series? I haven't played since the game came out and the weeks I did (and loved) my first playthough. Recently bought it on Steam and made a new character to gather as much weapons and stuff to play around with new and old builds in the DLC. It's going a bit slow tho - there are so many things I don't recall correctly.
I've never been so hyped for a DLC in all my life. Also looking forward to coming here for all the new DLC and OG game blend builds like i did in my original playthroughs 💪🏻💪🏻 June can't come quick enough.
My OG character is on NG at level 171. I'm at the stone platform right now with just need to pick an ending which I'll probably do after completing the DLC (or maybe just before and not start NG+). I did start a fresh character because pretty much everyone is dead in my OG save because I was worried about having less character interaction. Also for practice since pretty much everyone is dead. I did just beat Margit without a summon so I was pretty proud of myself for that. So I'll probably tackle with my OG character first , see how it goes and then tackle with my character just started since I have a few months to make progress with them
You have to beat radahn before you can enter dlc (stated in an interview) so if mohg counts as a great rune enya then its easy to get that talisman slot, if not the just beat godrick on the way like beating margrit
I had the plan of getting everything possible, doing all the NPC side quest and basically getting the platinum trophy besides doing all the endings and then going into NG+ and waiting on the DLC to drop, that way I have everything in the base game, but then I can play normally and progress to the DLC naturally besides y'know, my character being a pretty high level which I plan to go into the DLC around lvl 200 so I can mess with a lot of the new weapons/spells and everything!
Going through the game again because of all the hype and it's crazy while being gone since launch ( did all endings played 6 characters ) I just breeze through even with some surprises so I'm excited as I'm getting to actual challenging. Bosses and get a real refresher I'll save melania as a warm up for the dlc lol and go into it w the idea of an extended endgame challenge
I left my main, level 300ish, with almost everything, weapons, mats, etc. I’m hoping I can even get into the dlc. Hopefully there’s no cap, because I jumped on recently after a looong time and still got whooped in certain places haha. Just a bit rusty.

Didn’t they say in an interview beating radan and moogh are the two requirements?
Yes
How to prepare for dlc: Check hard drive space. Pay for and download DLC.
I will be falling into the NG+ bucket, from when I last played. May Messmer have mercy on my soul 😭. Great vid btw
This was the exact video I wanted to see as I left off right in the middle of a NG+ run about a year ago
I feel like there is isn’t too much to prep for. The dlc sounds like it’s going to basically bring all players down to the same dmg output roughly. A new type of power maybe will need to be progressed? Which would be amazing.
Great video Fex. Absolutely buzzing for dlc. I've 4 characters. 1 is an end game fresh build first playthrough. Let's go 🙌
I'm starting a new game this week to sharpen up my skills ahead of the DLC. Can't wait!
I'm def going for faith/arc build, wings like crucible knights? New dragon incantations? New blood spells? I want to be ready to use them all :D
Same. That's my favorite build on my best character already, but when I saw the Dragon Bear incant... my mind was made up
That thumbnail is sick!!
Haven't played in so long summoning Torrent was an item and not a button press lol
I’m an idiot and went to new game plus…before downloading dlc. Now I have to do everything all over again. 334 hours gone.
@stwrath I haven't used any of them lol , I always forget about them. I have so many rune arcs haha just forget to equip a great rune
You can only use the dlc weapons, incantations, spells etc in the dlc area. Not the main game.
@@TheFreakiestBob where did you hear that?
Source? That’s never been the case with any of their other games.
@@freeskier31It isn’t the case here either, guy is talking nonsense
Long story short. Just replay the game
On my 9th playthrough
Thanks for the Video Cass! You guys are the best.
One thing to note is that you no longer have to reacquire the miner's and somber's bell bearings in NG+ if you already acquired them all in your first playthrough.
I'll start a new character shortly before release and complete most of all the regular content before entering the DLC.
Keep up the build guides!
Mimic tear, and equip a high lv katana. (nagikaba + bloodflame blade incantation)
Cheese him. He deals bleed, but is also very vulnerable to bleed. I killed him in 1 minute
I’ll be completing Shadow of the Erdtree in NG+7
Good video with some useful tips, I think Ill wait for the DLC to come out with the new weapons, skills, abilities and balancing to then make my decision on what kind of build I want in a new fresh save
So... dont just run there at level 20. Got it.
I suggest a quality build. So you can try most of the New weapons.
@@Ämyr2006 yeah I will probably go with something like that.
Everyone: Here's how to prepare for the elden ring DLC
Me: there's no need to prepare for I believe in the power of unga bunga
My unga bunga prays at night to keep his faith strong👹
This helped me realize just how flushed out my build is and how many items I had to get to be at that point. I'll start playing now to refresh myself.
Time to farm them mohgwyn albanaurics once again 😢
Elden Ring was my first souls/souls like game. Since, I’ve played Sekiro, Lies of P, WoLong, Star Wars games(which are easier). I think I should be ok.
Don’t start a NG+ there that video should be 1 min
Completely doable on NG+. Did it on NG+7 right away and had an easier than time than most of the people crying over the difficulty
What we wanna keep in mind for the dlc is ; the omens seems to be a HUGE PART of the dlc , and omens are very weak against holy and fire dmg , wich means the faith build might be more efficient or at least for a good part of the dlc , miyasaki also confirmed that radhan and mogh must be down to unlock the land of shadow , so a starting player will have quite a lot to do to get to the land of shadow , BUT , he also confirmed that there will be a new mechanic introduce in the land of shadow to augment your character , some sort of new levelling system , so if your character is over level 400 , you can still power up , and probably still have to explore , so even if your ng + 7 and already have pretty much everything figured out you will still feel lost , miyasaki also confirmed that it is not a dream or a time travel thingy , it is a new map
what makes you think they're a HUGE part of the game?
Meh, I'm just bringing a Greatsword
Get some black flame spells for endgame, maliketh, radagon/elden beast, and I think Godfrey all have super high faith resistance aside from black flame
From someone who loves faith and got fucked my first endgame with it 😂
If you’re doing faith go and kill maliketh. The black blade incant was the best I used in the game it shredded the Elden beast and radagon and should help you in the DLC
The whole thing takes approximately 300h to collect , weapons , armors , bell bearings etc etc
@@Paranoidsocialist any kind of flame if you ask me will be highly efficient , since there seems to be a lotta omens and omens theme stuff
how do we even know if we will be using the same smithing stones for DLC weapons? if the way we level up will be different why would the way we level up our weapons be the same..? just a thought.
Perfect excuse to do NG+ with my first character and get to the endgame with 4 months to spare before the DLC…keep up the content man
I got a level 390 character. I would love to max my character all the way out. But the rune grind is something serious.
I think faith and holy damage are gonna be huge in the dlc
In my 1st elden ring play through now only radagon is left and malenia so should I enter into dlc after killing malenia and after finishing dlc do the ending ??? Pls help
I think I'll just go in with my ng plus 4 character and suffer the pain that awaits me
I have a new game character near end game at level 125 and a NG++ character near end game with Mohg defeated. I stopped short of burning the Erdtree, just in case that has some relevance or aesthetical difference in the DLC area. The first DLC run will be with the new game to experience how the difficulty should properly feel.
Honestly im just excited about new weapons spells and armor sets I can’t wait see what crazy builds come from this
Thank you for touching on going into NG+ in the last part. I’m glad i didn’t. I’ll just wait until i’m done with the DLC to do it. Great video!
I didn't know there was such a Crystal Tear, lmao, Imma pick it right up.
@@MaQuGo119 You get it by following yura's questline
@@MaQuGo119oh man there are about 10 to 14 of them. But make sure you find them by doing everything
There’s definitely gonna be some + 25 and +10 smithing stones in the DLC
This video is basically: "DLC might be hard. Have good thing."
Very useful.
Typical 2024 complaining 👶🏻
Backup your save files. Everytiem a good idea beforce DLCs arrive.
Smart, especially for people that mod their games.
Great video. I hope they make respec easier. Kind of disappointed that you have to do NG+ to get the respec items.
Im so glad you addressed this! This was exactly how i was feeling but no one else talked about it! Thank you!
What build are you going to use?
Haven’t played in a good while. So I started a fresh champ, and by the time DLC comes out I’ll be ready. Been brushing up on your previous vids lolol
Elden Ring: Shadow of The Erdtree ! Gonna be epic!
I have just started my first play through of elden ring
Very excited
I’ve already finished my second play through and loved it even more than the first one!!!
Best game ever
fextralife.com/elden-ring-is-the-best-game-of-all-time/ you may enjoy this lol
I've never been so hyped for a DLC in all my life. Also looking forward to coming here for all the new DLC and OG game blend builds like i did in my original playthroughs 💪🏻💪🏻 June can't come quick enough.
I'm definitely doing my first playthrough at least on NG+... Nice guide, as always, BTW!
Hey man, nice video, looking forward to the new builds that will come from these new weapons!
If I go into the dlc on new game + 3-4 will the dlc be ng + difficult or?
I left my main, level 300ish, with almost everything, weapons, mats, etc. I’m hoping I can even get into the dlc. Hopefully there’s no cap, because I jumped on recently after a looong time and still got whooped in certain places haha. Just a bit rusty.
10:35 didn't they patch that a long time ago? I'm pretty sure bell bearings carry through to ng+ now.
As someone who mains this game I’m making and setting up multiple characters for the dlc
