    Regular/daily exercise and doing what I can do when I can do it has been life-changing for me. It’s good for my mind. It’s good for my body.
    Find the thing that you will do. Whatever that looks like for you. Walking the dog. Going for a run. Going climbing. Going weight training. Weight training at home for 30 mins in the morning. The best exercise is the one that you will do regularly.

    I got burnt many time as a teen. I have had 4 malignant melanoma surgical removals on my leg and 2 large on my back. Now I have scar that will never go away. @@zonnebloemsummer6435 I was in my late 50’s. The places in my leg are very noticeable where they removed it. I had mohs on all of the removal surgeries. I don’t care that’s it so noticeable because that’s what it took to get rid of it. It blows me away to see kids at the beach or teens laying out by the pool not protecting themselves. I would love to lay out. But I will never risk it again.

      Depends on your skin tone. Here is an excerpt: Adults
      In the spring and summer, adults with 22% of their skin uncovered can produce 1,000 IU of vitamin D in 10-15 minutes of sun exposure. However, the time it takes to produce vitamin D can range from 9-46 minutes, depending on the risk of erythema. People with lighter skin may only need 15 minutes of sun exposure, while people with darker skin may need a couple of hours.

    • @JauntyCrepe
      @JauntyCrepe 6 місяців тому

      People can also increase their vitamin D intake by eating foods high in vitamin D, such as fish, fortified breakfast foods, or taking supplements. Some people may notice improvements in their vitamin D levels within a few weeks of starting supplementation, but it can take longer for others.

    • @JauntyCrepe
      @JauntyCrepe 6 місяців тому

      Honestly, my doctor prescribed a supplement for me because that’s probably the actually safest way to get it. So maybe look into that and adding dietary sources so you can still go out into the sun but also use sun screen

    Every single morning my SPF goes on my face, whether I go outside or not, whether it's raining or not. I stay out of the sun b/c I literally burn in 10 mins. We love cruising but never go out in the sun. We may walk to a location for a few minutes but I've never gotten so much as any color while on our cruises. This combo-skinned woman is ALWAYS on the hunt for an actual matte SPF and, so far, have only found one. I can't tell you how much $$ I've wasted on new sunscreens and I always end up giving them to my sister who has dry skin. I will try the Neutrogena Hydro Boost you mentioned. THANKS for this video...I bought the Biossance Clarifying Core routine and love it. Even thoough I have "mature" skin it still tends to be oily in the t zone and in the summer I sweat like a banshee (do banshees sweat?)....The BHA toner and the gel moisturizer are amazing and I finally feel like I have found a moisturizer that balances my skin without creating an oil slick and the BHA toner is visibly reducing pore size. Glad I took the leap into the world of Biossance.

    I have spend all my life avoiding to tan because I have rosacea, very sensitive skin, and I’m from Chile, where skin cancer is one of the most common cancer because we have a hole in the atmosphere 🤷🏻‍♀️, so, I belong to the “sunscreen police“ and I go around saying to everyone to use SPF every 2 hours in a very annoying way 😂 But this raised a small question for you: Can it be bad to apply “too much” sunscreen? for example, to apply a huge amount every hour or so? By the way: guys, you are both beautiful man, smart, kind and generous. I’m so sorry that people in 2024 say to Dr. Shah to get a tan or that it used to look better tan… UA-cam and RRSS in general are a scary place to get exposed, and you share amazing content and now deliver amazing products with Remedy, I only can be thankful to you two ❤

      i mean i think at that point it would just be wasteful because i don’t think you’d be getting any extra protection, just using extra product and getting the same level of protection (at least roughly). as long as you’re diligent about using your spf and reapplying every two hours, you should be safe. don’t stress yourself out too much about anything more than that (as far as spf goes) and also wearing UV protective clothing will help a lot too so i would just recommend adding that into your daily life rather than extra unnecessary spf. hope this helps :) also, just as a disclaimer, i’m not a medical professional (although i’m soon to be in school to become one!😸) so take this with a pinch of salt! i’m just basing all of this on the knowledge i’ve accumulated over the years from professionals in regards to UV protection

    I've been regularly focused on my sunscree habits the last few years. This summer is shaping up to be a hard one, though. My cat has/had a white tipped ear and got squamous cell cancer. W caught it early and he didn't lose as much ear as we originally thought, which means I now have to apply sunscreen to his ear every morning before he can curl up in sun patches...trying to figure out how often it needs reapplied and then realizing I need to get it on the inside....it’s been a lot. But also a great reminder about the importance of sunscreen
    And for the uneducated internet trolls that keep saying sunscreen causes cancer....my cat didn't use sunscreen a day in his life before skin cancer!! Gah!

    Warning to dog owners who use or want to try the Biossance face sunscreen mentioned in this video. It contains xylitol, which is toxic to dogs. I am very disappointed in the new formulation since I loved their old formulation. I don't want to risk my dog dying if he licks my face while I am using the sunscreen.
    Also, to dog owners, xylitol is in many common things like: chewing gum, lotion, toothpaste, mouthwash, sugar-free candy, sugar-free baked goods, sunscreen, and baby wipes. Read your ingredient list as not all brands contain it. Keep these products away from where your dog can access them.

      The dose makes the poison. Even water can kill you if you have too much of it; doesn’t mean you should avoid drinking it altogether. Unless your dog eats a whole bottle of sunscreen, it’s unlikely they’ll get poisoned from the Xylitol. P.S., my dog is my baby, too!

I used to get a nice golden tan every summer. Since that day, I can't tan without burning. So I don't bother. I slather on the sunscreen and let myself stay pale.

    It would be good to touch upon how sometimes the products for recommend are formulated differently in different countries e.g. USA vs UK.

    Is it true that combination of mineral sunscreen eg in foundation and chemical suncreen decreases SPF protection? Aso I'm very sceptic to SPF sprays for possible harm inhaling nanoparticules sunscreen & other chemicals. Any studies on this?

    The last 50 years have focused on tan as the sign of health and vitality. Thanks to you two, and other wonderful UA-cam derms, that will slowly change. Natural white skin will rule for the next 50. When people tell me I’m pale, I thank them and say my goal is to restore my skin to the color of my butt. It’s never seen a UV ray. LOL That’s what skin is supposed to look like. 😊

    I had a skincare routine where I used retinol, nicimamide, vit c, hydrolronic acid, peptides, sunscreen etc etc. All the things I thought would help me not look so tired and old. But my skin was just looking so unhappy.
    I stripped my routine right back to cleanse, moisturise sunscreen and my skin looks so much nicer and happier. I don't understand why. My diet/water intake has stayed the same so I don't think it's related to that. Any thoughts on this please? Has anyone experienced similar?

    As a fellow physician I cannot recommend the book „Exercised“ by Daniel Lieberman enough. It’s a deep dive into how we evolved as humans and why we need exercise to survive.

    I literally cannot naturally tan. I’ve had many people and many boyfriends make fun of me and tell me I’m supposed to be more tan and if I just tried harder I’d get darker…..when I was younger I’d lay outside everyday in the sun trying to tan and it never changed my skin color. Now I apply sunscreen obsessively and use Bali body tanning mousse if I wanna feel confident in a swimsuit in summer

    One thing I've seen a lot maybe in the past year or so are companies pushing scalp and hair sunscreen. I've never heard of that until recently so I'm wondering if that's actually necessary cause I feel like if it were, wouldn't companies have already been pushing that years ago? And I've been to numerous hair salons over the course of my life so far, and not once have I ever had my stylist mention scalp and hair sunscreen to me.

      It’s a good idea to be fair, if you’re not gonna wear a hat, wear sunscreen there, the amount of times my scalp in the part of my hair gets burnt i’d love a sunscreen that wouldn’t cause my hair to get greasy, and imagine how difficult it would be to find skin cancer on your scalp. Its not necessary, wear a hat, but it is definitely necessary to protect your scalp from the sun

    Quick question… what about BHAs? Is it ok to wear in the am during summer? Does am or pm application matter? What about percentage? My go to is drunk elephant azelaic plus 1% BHA. Thanks so much!! ❤
