The ISDIN tinted mineral sunscreen looks absolutely amazing! But $70 for 3.4oz!? Even though the ingredients look amazing, I don't think I could justify paying $20.5/oz for a product you're expected to reapply throughout the day and will need to be replaced every couple months!
I love the Isdn sunscreen. There is a study in PubMed about the effectiveness of repair enzymes in sunscreens. Interestingly most are available in Europe. But there are some U. S. brands with DNA repair enzymes too, including Photozyme and Neova. I believe repair enzymes are the future of sunscreen and skincare and not a lot of dermatologists are talking about it yet which surprises me.
Could you give examples for sunscreens with repair enzymes that are available in Europe? Looking for something more affordable that the isdn sunscreen…
Can you do a separate video on UPF clothing brands that you like/recommend? In addition, can you review sunscreens that are found at the drugstore that is more economical/in a larger container to use all over the body during the summer? For example, if someone or a family goes swimming everyday during the summer, which products should they look into? It can be quite costly to use higher end sunscreens all over the body when most of the containers are under 3 ounces.
My personal favorite tip for sunscreen in summer: Set yourself a timer on your phone. As skincare nerds, we probably all know that sunscreen should be reapplied every two hours if you are exposed to the sun. I work outdoors, so this is crucial for me to protect my skin from the sun, especially as someone who has sun-damaged skin. I have oily hair so I don't know if I'd do this all the time, but if I know I'm washing my hair the next day and it's too hot for a hat, I might try this! Thank you.
The brand Supergoop also has a spray in powder sunscreen for the scalp! Acts almost like a dry shampoo and the stpray nozzel makes it easier to apply to the scalp! They also have an SPF 50 setting spray. So you can renew your SPF with a mineral brush and the setting spray to make sure you're getting a good layer during reapplication.

I have to see my derm every 6months because of it. It’s very overwhelming for me and has made me stay inside avoiding the sun altogether as much as possible. @@wilmaknickersfit My comment was never meant to be hostile. You'd be surprised at how easily people can be swayed to buy products. Marketing and advertising is an incredibly powerful tool and while you may be able to see past the ads, a lot of people can't. I know ISDIN is a reputable company but again, it's never a bad thing to remind their audience how sponsored videos work and that it's important to do your own research as well, especially since there are so many good products out there that aren't just from ISDIN.
Yes, a combined sunscreen and antioxidant is really convenient, and Isdin looks like a nice product. But it’s definitely out of price range for many people
I haven’t heard of this brands supplement but I was considering heliocare bc it has that same ingredient in it! And I also am on a very consistent regimen for my melasma so I feel like it’s worth adding to my routine. I’m glad it got your stamp of approval! 😊
The sunscreens from this brand were recommended to me by a dermatologist who knew my skin type - oily, acne prone and sensitive - and I tried them all for about two years. They all broke me out and I struggled so badly it was ridiculous. I moved on to Korean sunscreens and I have been fine since. I get the occasional spot and that is it.
I use these when I go SCUBA diving: Sun Bum SPF 30 Scalp & Mist Sunscreen Spray or COOLA organic spray. Both of these are vegan and cruelty-free, which is important to me as a diver.
Yes! Finally some American dermatologists speaking about how wonderful ISDIN is. I haven't found another sunscreen like these. I love it and miss that I can't get the whole range in Canada 😭
I've thought about trying that Isdin as it's been recommended by others that don't particularly enjoy mineral sunscreen, claiming that this is the nicest most cosmetically elegant mineral option out there but I get my DNA repair enzymes separately which is what that plankton ingredient is. Photozyme is the brand I use for DNA repair. It's about $100 a bottle but it lasts for a very long time. You only need one metered dose and it lasts for months. Just another option for people out there who are interested in incorporating DNA repair enzymes into their routine. I do use it in the morning along with my antioxidants prior to sunscreen application
I love the Ageless ISDIN sunscreen. It does feel like a primer and doesn’t feel greasy. 3.4oz does last and the site will have sales in there productions, so I take advantage.
this is a wonderful recommendation especially for some of us that are traveling to Spain and other places where it is cheaper. Yes I understand when I was raising my children this would be quite expensive for me at the time right now. This is something that I could afford and I’m glad that they I know about this. But just because I can afford it and because I’m going to Spain soon, does it mean that I will use it but it’s always good to know about new things and have the option.
Can you make a video all about supplements for your skin? Would be super interesting to know what actually works and what's BS, with everything that's out there. Especially with collagen supplements where there's just so many different options. Some that contain collagen, some that would make you produce more collagen like Biosil, ...
I did not realised that ISDIN has such science behind..I bought the mineral sunscreen randomnly, without knowing before this brand. In Romania is not that expensive. Great video guys❤
Love you guys! The two of you have a phenomenal chemistry and I get excited when you post. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and energy with our community!
I doctors, I personally love the Australian gold tinted SPF 50 mineral sunscreen. It actually provides a little bit of coverage and I use it all summer long in place of foundation unless I’m going out somewhere nice. What are your thoughts on that particular sunscreen is it a good one?Thank you
My husband is Spanish so I used to load up on ISDIN sunscreen on trips to Spain. So glad we can get it here now. If you go hiking/mountain climbing in Spain, the pharmacist at the local Farmacia will absolutely recommend ISDIN. I'm Fitzpatrick I and I've never gotten a single freckle, let alone a burn, in Spain thanks to ISDIN!
Don’t know if you have done a video about it but I am very confused as to why the various tinted sunscreens have different percentages of “zinc oxide” and “titanium dioxide”, etc. What percentage rate would you guys consider to be the best to look at or get?
I absolutely LOVE watching you two!! You remind me of when my son was in high school and my home was packed with his friends. It was nonstop debates and laughter 😃 ❤❤❤
"Polypodium leucotomos" is so much fun to say; I have never heard of it but I need it! Thank you so much for yet another informative video!!! I am 57 and vacationed in Florida twice a year, and was on a swim team, growing up. I never used sunscreen because I thought I didn't need it. Boy was I wrong! I had five "precancerous" (whatever that means) spots removed from my temple, the top of my head, chest and shoulders by the time I was twenty-six. I have a small bald spot on the top of my head from the surgery and my hair wants to part there. I also developed horrible melasma. I now avoid being directly in the sun, when possible, and wear sunscreen every single day, rain or shine, even if I don't plan to go outside. Sorry, but if it gets "even one person to wear sunscreen" it's worth repeating. 😁
In terms of protective clothing, I've used Solumbra shirts for years! They have a wide variety of clothing. No, I'm not employed by the company, don't know anyone who is. Just a very satisfied customer. They deliver to Canada, by the way.
My husband works in the sun most days. He's a contractor. We live in Hawaii and it's hard to afford that much sun protective clothing. I get a product by Rit called "Sun Guard" that you put in your wash. It claims to boost your clothes from UPF 5 to UPF 30 and says it will last through 20 washes. I wash his clothes with it as well as the sunscreen he uses every day. Just a little added protection.
I love drmtlgy tinted sunscreen. It has all the goodies you mentioned. It light and dewy which is great for me in AZ. I Can’t handle anything heavy on my face. My sunscreen is with me always.
Alcohol denat is high in the ingredients list. How do you reconcile the benefits of the other ingredients with the skin damaging action of the alcohol denat?
Amazon Carrie’s lotion applicators to use on your back! One looks like a paint roller, the one I use is a long clothe with handles on the end. It solves the problem of trying to put lotion on by yourself. It works great for applying sunscreen to the shoulders and back. It’s a game changer!

I love Aussie sunscreen, from Ultraceuticals and Ultra Violet, especially the Ultra Violt Queen Screen. It looks like a serum bottle, very fluid and mattifying. Anyway, I'm enjoying trying different form of sunscreen. I'm looking forward to summer in Australia now, as I can purchase my favorite sunscreens and no need to worry I don't need them that much. It's winter in Australia now, so I only have Ultraceuticals spf 30 mattifying.
The Hada Labo premium whitening lotion (light) has all the things… vit c, arbutin, niacinamide, HA, resveratrol. I use it as a moisturizer before putting on my sunscreen during the summertime here in Thailand where it’s boiling hot and humid 😅 I don’t notice any difference on my PIE yet tho because it hasn’t even been a month yet but I think it’s a great product for anyone looking for a super lightweight toner/moisturizer with all the good stuff recommended in this video. It’s pretty affordable and it’s fragrance-free!

Some questions: 1. Is hair working as protection of the sun? Or should we have sunblock in the whole scalp? 2. Is carrots any benificial when it comes to sun protection? I am alergic to the sun (I get itchy exzema that spreds and swolls up if I itch and/or don't protect) and my mom always used to tell me to eat so much carrots every early spring. 3. Please share tips on how to inspire more men to wear sunblock. At least in my country (Sweden) my experience is that wearing sunblock is not "manly" bc they don't care about their looks as much or if they get burn bc that just means "weakness" or some stupidness. I just feel like it is so importat bc.. well.. CANCER.. and that skin cancer is so common...
Skin and healthcare is more important than being "manly" and dying. And as they say, doing whatever you feel like doing and not caring about others opinion is wayyyy more about being "manly". You do you, and do what is best for you!
@@bunnerkins My husband would never ever wear sunscreen. His only skincare product is a bottle of shampoo that he uses from head to toes and throws a fit if offered anything else. And I doubt it's about not male targeted products. He just hates the feeling. If he helps me to apply lotion/cream on my back, he goes to wash his hands right after (mumbling and ewwing in disgust). He'd rather vacuum his skin off the floor than use any of that.
I'm from the Caribbeans. I learn to wait for the bus under the trees, to get shelter away from the sun and some fresh air. And sometimes it's the only way to not arrive soaking wet to your destination. I also learn to change sidewalk for the ones which was in the shadow. And I remember my uncle gardening with a floopy hat with uuuuuuge side (chapeau bakoua). In Japan (I think), people would add some fabric on the hat to cover their faces. As for carrot : yes. I remember putting carrot oil on my body after a big morning in the pool. It helped keep my tan longer, which is a skin natural defense mecanism against the sun. And my skin never looked so great.
Thank you for this. I spent 4 hours cycling then planting the garden. I do need a decent suncsreen for reapplication. I wear the UAV clothing which helps but I still burned.
Thank you soooo much for covering this topic ! 🥳 And the timing is perfect, to make the good purchase before summer. Having black skin, I sometimes feel left out and had to fill the gaps the best way I can. Thanks again for including as much people as possible. And even if I don't have any allergies, or else it makes me learn more and share the tips if I have an opportunity.
Great Video!! Going to checkout these sunscreens. My husband has had two or three skin cancers on the top of his head. He now never goes outside without a hat.
You have convinced me to keep spending and searching for my sunscreen that doesn’t irritate along with maybe 5 other youtube accessible dermatologists. Thank you.
I use Life Extension's Shade Factor formula as it has three of the researched ingredients. "Shade Factor uses three unique ingredients to support the body''s natural immune response to UV exposure: Nicotinamide, Polypodium leucotomos extract, and Red Orange Complex®."
You don't need to reapply vitamin C when you reapply your sunscreen, once in the morning is sufficient. You also don't want to subject the bottles to heat and direct sunlight at the beach.
@@per_siri Couldn't agree more! Vitamin C has enough trouble penetrating the skin. Absolutely no chance of penetrating over a thick layer layer of sunscreen!
Thank you for your content! It’s been very helpful. Can you do an episode devoted to teen skin care routines? I notice you kind of mention kids and sunscreen when you’re addressing the skin protection needs of a wider swath of people, but I don’t see any video that has consolidated info related to adolescent skin health on your channel. It would be helpful if you could include products for families on a budget. The product “hacks” in this video are well outside of what a family will typically be able to spend on skin care. Also, products teen boys would be willing to wear (i.e. that don’t make them smell like their gran). Thanks so much!
Great video as always! A quick question on the topic of summer skincare, for certain professionals (i.e. archaeologists) summer means long hours of fieldwork and wearing ALOT of DEET bug spray - can DEET damage the skin and are there better alternatives (that still provide tick protection)? Thanks!
Ditto!! I spray Ben’s DEET from the knee down, including on my socks, at least 3 days a week for yard work. It’s the best product I’ve ever used for ticks, esp when hiking in the woods, and I do wash it off as soon as I’m done, but the long term effects worry me…
Sawyer Piricardin Lotion or piricardin bug spray. I’m allergic to mosquitoes AND I can’t stand DEETs smell. Piricardin works well as an alt. Sawyer piricardin has only allowed one bite to get through all summer.
🎉I got excited this afternoon when I saw a new sunscreen video from you guys. I look forward to watching and researching the products after a long day. Even the QnA’s…keep em’ comin’!
I live in Greece and it's SOOO hard to find a good tinted sunscreen without making you look orange, especially because i have fair skin. I would really love if anyone can recommend something affordable because i have acne and i do suffer from hyperpigmentation :(
I live in the Caribbean and have the same problem. They are either too light or too dark, haven’t found one that actually blends in. (I have kind of like a tan skin tone , but as soon as I step outside I turn red).
Another great video - thank you! y'all rock! Question: do we really need special clothing for sun protection? I read that it shouldn't be sheer, but can't a long-sleeved cotton shirt do the trick? Or something like this? Would love to hear more on this topic.
Yeah because you're covering more of the skin so you don't need to apply sunscreen on your arms. My dad works in long but thinner shirts always (his work involves being in the field for multiple hours)
When talking about clothing, you should talk about hats, and the right kind/shape of hats, that are good. Baseball style hats, while great for the scalp don’t cut it when it comes to sun protection for the sides of the face…
My dermatologist recommended the ISDIN tinted sunscreen for me for my hyperpigmentation. I did buy it (during a holiday sale lol). While I won’t repurchase I do think I’ve seen the benefits. It does start with a cast so I have to apply it 15+ minutes before I go outside to allow it to melt in my skin. For anyone who reads this my foundation shade is 20 in Fenty skin tint or 46c in rare beauty tinted moisturizer
I love the Alastin Hydratint Tinted sunscreen....the price can be up there, but with a few other influencers discount codes, I save 20%, and it is like skincare & foundation in one - absolutely love it for my sensitive and hyper-reactive skin! I would like to see a review on this (maybe you have reviewed this in the past - can't remember), but if not, would like your thoughts. Great video and always a lot of fun watching you two!
Hi. Can you have a video on facial care for men with light beards, like both of you have? My brother claims its impossible to hydrate skin under the beard and additionally doesn't use ANY sunscreen 😬
I just started using Little Hands Hawai’i tinted mineral sunscreen as I’ve been trying to find the right mineral sunscreen that works for darker skin tones and so far it’s been great!! Does anyone have any tips for tinted sunscreens and preventing transfer issues to clothes?
Thanks to Dr. Shah's pronunciation, now I'm mentally singing "Err-EE-Photon-a" to the tune of The Toreador Song from Carmen. Fitting for an ISDIN product!

But it’s definitely out of price range for many people
Thank you for informing us. I'm off to order their sunscreens
I haven’t heard of this brands supplement but I was considering heliocare bc it has that same ingredient in it! And I also am on a very consistent regimen for my melasma so I feel like it’s worth adding to my routine. I’m glad it got your stamp of approval! 😊
Heliocare is good 😊
I use heliocare with my sunscreen & hat regimen and it really does seem to help keep my melasma from darkening up in the summer.
@@idahodiamonds180 this is so good to hear!!
Hello are is also cheaper. This ISDIN brand is too expensive.
I like heliocare
The sunscreens from this brand were recommended to me by a dermatologist who knew my skin type - oily, acne prone and sensitive - and I tried them all for about two years. They all broke me out and I struggled so badly it was ridiculous. I moved on to Korean sunscreens and I have been fine since. I get the occasional spot and that is it.
What Korean sunscreens do you recommend?
Can you recommend a Korean sunscreen?
I have the same skin type and all sunscreens I’ve tried break me out or leave a horrible white cast or oily face. Which Korean sunscreen do you use?
Same recommendation by dermatologist and same issue with Isdin but for me it was irritating my eyes really badly.
Where did you buy your ISDIN? If you may share, please and thank you as I am from Canada too
@@cherrysantos6872 I used to buy it back in Mexico, I haven't found a reliable online store that ships to Canada 😞 or at reasonable price.
I got an ISDIN FusionWater tinted sunscreen and I am in love! Thanks for being honest with your advise!
I was an esthethian at a Derm office for years and Isdin was my Favorite!!! So many great products all around. ❤😊
Le-ai găsit pe astea recomandate? Eu sunt in Polonia și sunt ieftine și aici, dar nu găsesc variantele astea in farmacii
Love you guys! The two of you have a phenomenal chemistry and I get excited when you post. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and energy with our community!
Love when you add the funnies at the end! That product is too rich for my budget though! Love your videos!🥰
I doctors, I personally love the Australian gold tinted SPF 50 mineral sunscreen. It actually provides a little bit of coverage and I use it all summer long in place of foundation unless I’m going out somewhere nice. What are your thoughts on that particular sunscreen is it a good one?Thank you
Can you talk about having treatments done prior to the summer? Like microneedling, chemical peels, lasers, etc
I’m interested in IPL (light) but have held off due to me being in the sun (under a big hat, but in the sun no less) in the summer.
Neova has those enzymes as well as in their moisturizers and sunscreen.
Can you make a video on how to diagnose a broken skin barrier and for how long to simplify your skincare routine ? 😭
Love love love your videos! You two are the funnest and soo helpful!!! Thank YOU!!!!!
Please could you cover/review different sweatproof/sweat resistant sunscreens for those of us who live in humid climates?😊
I think Land's End has a lot of swimwear and beach coverups and so that are sun screening. They look pretty nice too.
Hey guys, Would love to hear skincare necessities for 50+ age range.
Love now you hav a podcast guys, take care, from Jackie in the UK 💜
I didn't know that about tinted mineral sunscreen! I find it harder to remove, so I wasn't using it as much, but now I'm way more interested!
I hate fall too! Seasonal Effective Disorder? I'm depressed all winter. ❤️💓
In terms of protective clothing, I've used Solumbra shirts for years! They have a wide variety of clothing. No, I'm not employed by the company, don't know anyone who is. Just a very satisfied customer. They deliver to Canada, by the way.
Always enjoy your videos together 🎉❤ great information 👍
*Amazon sells…
Q= How many times should I wash my face...in the night before using skin A ,in the morning before going to university before sunscreen and moisturizer,,at 12pm after returning from university..
History of my skin:
I have oily skin...and just started using Skin A cream(retinol) which causes some irritation, peeling etc...I have dark spots on my face ... textured skin...
I work in dermatology and am obsessed with isdn
I love products by Isdin the only thing is that it’s expensive here in Brazil.
I think that it's expensive everywhere. Sure is here in the US!
Expensive everywhere honestly
The Hada Labo premium whitening lotion (light) has all the things… vit c, arbutin, niacinamide, HA, resveratrol. I use it as a moisturizer before putting on my sunscreen during the summertime here in Thailand where it’s boiling hot and humid 😅 I don’t notice any difference on my PIE yet tho because it hasn’t even been a month yet but I think it’s a great product for anyone looking for a super lightweight toner/moisturizer with all the good stuff recommended in this video. It’s pretty affordable and it’s fragrance-free!
I hated Autumn till moved to Colorado Springs. The most beautiful time of the year here. 10 years and it still amazes me! Summer makes me anxious about hail.
Some questions:
I have a male friend that absolutely refuses to wear sunscreen. He is exactly the sort of person that needs a male targeted advertising strategy.

I love ISDN line, all their products are wonderful, but it's really underrated. No one talking about. no sponsor and adv. maybe. thank you.
Thank you for this. I spent 4 hours cycling then planting the garden. I do need a decent suncsreen for reapplication. I wear the UAV clothing which helps but I still burned.
Thanks for this, I have been using ISDIN sunscreen for the last 3 years, I love it ❤❤❤
Thank you soooo much for covering this topic ! 🥳
And the timing is perfect, to make the good purchase before summer.
Having black skin, I sometimes feel left out and had to fill the gaps the best way I can.
Thanks again for including as much people as possible. And even if I don't have any allergies, or else it makes me learn more and share the tips if I have an opportunity.
Sun Precautions brand clothing made with Solumbra fabric. It's comfortable and reliable. I've used them for years.
Thank you.
My favorite dermatologists. Love Isdin
I use Life Extension's Shade Factor formula as it has three of the researched ingredients.
"Shade Factor uses three unique ingredients to support the body''s natural immune response to UV exposure: Nicotinamide, Polypodium leucotomos extract, and Red Orange Complex®."
Listening to Doctorly while dutifully putting on my sunscreen for the day.... 😇
I love Isdin! My dermatologist reccomended it to me last year. I use the tinted everyday and the mineral brush.
I'll be taking Inde Wild or Paula's Choice Vitamin C with my sunscreens to the beach this year! Thanks for the hacks, y'all!!
I love the bloopers at the end.
Happy Melanoma Monday everyone!! These are wonderful tips
Thanks for the information about algae! Would you consider doing a video on "facial" sunscreens?
Great video as always! A quick question on the topic of summer skincare, for certain professionals (i.e. archaeologists) summer means long hours of fieldwork and wearing ALOT of DEET bug spray - can DEET damage the skin and are there better alternatives (that still provide tick protection)? Thanks!
I would like to know this too.
(I have kind of like a tan skin tone
, but as soon as I step outside I turn red).
Hi Docs! Can u review Dr Shereene Idriss pillowtalk derm new products?
Another great video - thank you! y'all rock! Question: do we really need special clothing for sun protection? I read that it shouldn't be sheer, but can't a long-sleeved cotton shirt do the trick? Or something like this? Would love to hear more on this topic.
Yeah because you're covering more of the skin so you don't need to apply sunscreen on your arms. My dad works in long but thinner shirts always (his work involves being in the field for multiple hours)
Thank you for the great hacks, saving this video for when the warm weather decides to show up! Snow in May!

Though sunscreen here is used year round.
That was helpful pl share a video for antiaging products and how to layer them
Please watch ‘til the end, way too funny. Love the videos. Please give advise about best treatments for eye lash growth.
I’m from Barcelona and it’s great when isdin gets some love!
Finally you are getting our favorite sunscreen ISDIN… but what a price point. Yes they are from my hometown!!!!
Hello, I really enjoy your videos. They are very informative.
When talking about clothing, you should talk about hats, and the right kind/shape of hats, that are good. Baseball style hats, while great for the scalp don’t cut it when it comes to sun protection for the sides of the face…
Isdin powder isnthe best thing I've tried been acne prone and with very oily skin. Yes, it is expensive but 100% worth it.
Love my UV umbrella
Love ISDIN been using it for years it amazing.
YES. I dislike fall too! My friends think I'm insane, but I love mid to late spring and early summer. ❤
Too much pollen in spring.! Fall 🍂🍁 is where it's at.
Mineral brush is AMAZING
Dr. Maxfield trying so hard not to laugh 😂😂 3:52
How much Polypodium leucotomos should you take daily? How much is in the isdin?
i think uniqlo's airism line is marketed as upf clothing. and the design is basic, but not bad.
I always love the bloopers :D
Doctorly, would please also talk about kids sunscreen . Recommendations? Pro and Con? Thank you
I just started using Little Hands Hawai’i tinted mineral sunscreen as I’ve been trying to find the right mineral sunscreen that works for darker skin tones and so far it’s been great!!
Does anyone have any tips for tinted sunscreens and preventing transfer issues to clothes?
Simple makes an spf serum, assuming it works well its quite nice; easy to apply and feels great.
Thanks to Dr. Shah's pronunciation, now I'm mentally singing "Err-EE-Photon-a" to the tune of The Toreador Song from Carmen. Fitting for an ISDIN product!
