If you don't have a friend with a bench press you can bend those cross pieces by scoring them with a grinder on the line where you want to bend it. Then when you hit it with a hammer it comes over easy. Once bend you can weld on the line again to re enforce the bend. Just an idea. Love the anchor and I have a ton of scrap steel to make one. Never throw steel away. If you have to buy a piece your pence will drop when you see the retail prices. Nice vid , Thanks.

Wow, that's an awesome anchor setup. I've donated SEVERAL anchors to Davey Jones's anchor collection over the years. I think I have all the necessary things I'll need, and I'm gonna build me one for both of my boats. The 12 foot jon boat, and the 16.5 foot trihull I bought a couple of weeks ago. Still working on it, but it's almost river ready. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and ideas. You're awesome Brother. Those antique window sash weights would make a good start on an anchor. They already have a hole in them to attach the rope. Just take caution when welding whatever it is you're going to weld to the bottom of them because they are cast iron. perhaps maybe you'll get lucky and round some up in an old house they're tearing down. Good video bro.

Came across your video by accident, but watched it anyways. Some good info and tips in it. But I would strongly advise anyone and yourself use extreme caution tying a stuck anchor to a cleat and using the motor. You can capsize the boat if you're not careful, and that would be a bad thing. There's a episode of Real sports with Brian Gumbel where some NFL players went out and did the same thing, well 1 out of 3 or 4 of them is the only one who made it back to shore alive. Just thought I would let you and some viewers know about it.

Good looking work man! When I first started working (backing in the mid/late 60's) I worked in factories. When something broke, we had to fab something up to get the line back to runnin'. Knowing how to make stuff is almost a lost art now. It served me well even into retirement.

Any I worked in a Mill and the places never wanted to spend money on the correct parts so I learned a lot about fabing up a solution too lol , but I'm sure you were much more skilled than me , but complements like that coming from fabrication artists like you mean a lot to me brother , thank you so much for watching Sir
