Was immediately my favorite upon playing it and years later I still come back just for this track. It's my fondest memory. My most vivid memory though is being scared shitless in the haunted house despite this being a children's game. I do NOT do horror games well.
On my first full playthrough this is the level that really stuck out to me. Yeah, it's huge (I didn't even find all the optional areas on my first trip there), but it's still cool. Though for individual chapters of the other levels I have to give it to Train Rush. And also Queen Vanessa for different reasons.
I really like this chapter and its fusion of Tibetan and Alpine culture, but the lack of a major character made it feel much emptier than it could have been.
Personnaly it was my favorite chapter because what it lacks in memorable characters it makes up for in ambiance and set pieces, like with cosmic bell of the windmill.
"The heat here is GRRREAT! Oh, it's even hotter to the right!" I love the Nomads so much, they're like the only NPCs I can see making the squeaky noise, alongside the seals from the Arctic Cruise.
@@gustytricks Don’t forget Chrono Cross - the part from 0:10-0:30 very much reminds me of that game’s soundtrack. There’s actually a couple of near-direct samples from Zelda here as well: the background melody that comes in at 0:31 is from Tal Tal Heights, and the lead melody at 1:12 is basically what I’d imagine Wind Waker’s version of LttP’s dark world theme would sound like. The horn at 2:54 sounds rather like a pitched-down version of the one used in WW & PH (notably the overworld themes), but I suspect it’s from a stock sample library. Then there’s the whole last section, from 3:45 to the loop point, which borrows a ton of elements from Outset Island and Zelda’s Lullaby...honestly, it could probably pass for a mix of those two on OCRemix.
@@tdark987 How curious you mentioned the game Chrono Cross. I'm in the part where I body swaped with Lynx and I just defeated Miguel. I'm happy :D and sad. :'(
I am gonna consider this as my favourite chapter in the whole game. The people is cute, the music is great and the scenery is beautiful! Well done! Edit: I has found out why this song takes so long! The music changes depending what area you are heading to
I'm so glad someone else thought this. Aesthetically definitely, but the SECOND I heard the music I thought 'this music sounds JUST like a MonHun Hub Village."
Yes, to the point that I was running through all the SS music in my head to figure out where I had heard it. But turns out I was thinking of Stow on Side from SwSh, ha ha.
I whish more of the Chapters in the game were free roam mode, like Mafia Town and Subcon Forest with the Quest being something you had to find in the map
Is it just me, or did anyone else read the title of this and keep thinking about the level from donkey Kong country tropical freeze called *Alpine Incline*
I will admit, I'm not sure what GFB was trying to do with Alpine Skyline, it just doesn't really work. The NPCs are great though I love the big fellas that just walk around
Love alpine skyline, honestly the only issues with it were the lack of proper characters and a story. Also the time stop hat isn't anywhere near as explicitly useful as the other hats. There's very little in the game that actually merits using it.
not sure if the creator got inspired of Zelda skyward sword because it kinda remind me of Zelda which is nice....shame that the final stage doesn't has important NPC to talk to like, Mustache girl in Mafia town, Snatcher in Subcon forest. Conductor and DJ Grooves at Dead Bird studio
I see what you mean. Personally, I'm never the biggest fan of free roam at first, I prefer a more linear type of level where the goal is obvious and it's just a matter of getting there(time rift levels for example). I'm a very thourough platformer, so I don't like getting overwhelmed with options and paths, but once I get my barings amd the goal starts to be made more clear, free roam isn't so bad.

I really like the NPCs of this place. They’re super friendly, sound adorable, and also look adorable.
They're called nomads,
And I love them too much it's almost scary
They migrated from a desert too, so they're hardly little guys and gals
@@tailsrhtatonslice1418 They'r supposed to be in the cut desert world
Fun fact, there are unused versions of them with colors more fitting for the level, they were probably meant to be used instead
Do grooved is the only npc you need
Am i the only one who REALLY loves this chapter?
Nope!
I like this chapter cuz we can fall and die
Free Roam is best mode, Subcon and Mafia Town should have been Free Roam too

Yeah, its probably my favorite area but the least memorable area cause it doesn’t have characters like the conductor or the snatcher
Personnaly it was my favorite chapter because what it lacks in memorable characters it makes up for in ambiance and set pieces, like with cosmic bell of the windmill.
I thought it was a fusion of Mongolian and Nordic cultures, so that shows what I know
I thought alpine was just a type of mountain range?

This place gives me big Wind Waker and Klonoa vibes. A little too light on story maybe, but I really loved exploring it for the atmosphere alone.
Heck yeah
Honestly the track sounds like a combination of spirit tracks and skyward sword

Say what you will about the level being a bit confusing to navigate or lacking characters, but the setting and music for Alpine Skyline is stellar.
4:45 My favorite part. That piano is so cute.
Ik, the only thing i like about this act, except for the NPC's
Dude I just feel so cozy listening to this ost. I don't know why.
To this day it's my favorite act of the game. Loved EVERYTHING.
A whole 14 minutes of good shit to listen to? Stellar.
What do you mean 14 minutes? The whole soundtrack is good shit, you got way more then 14 minutes
This gives me HUGE Monster Hunter vibes. Also one of my fave tracks on the album and fave places in the game design-wise.

3:44 my always favorite part
I really love this song
This song has such mega nostalgic vibes for me, a callback to the good old days of Sega collect-a-thon games. Such an uplifting call to adventure!
I whish more of the Chapters in the game were free roam mode, like Mafia Town and Subcon Forest with the Quest being something you had to find in the map
I mean I guess Subcon kind of is, with how you have to find the places the contracts take place in most times, but yeah I see your point

nop that part is my favorite of this song also nice pfp
LikerTubeEvolution Watching I love it :)
The best part.
I love the Birdhouse portion, specifically when an Egg Timer enemy is active and adds frantic bongos and what sounds like a sproing-y mouth harp.

To be fair, you can draw quite a few similarites between Autumn Heights and Alpine Skyline.
Stiefel is a genius.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles-VIBES!!!!!! :D
