I agree it looks better than ID3 but I have a Cupra Born and it somehow looks funny in the front. Also my pet peevs with it: 1) Bus type wipers. Wipers should fold out in the same direction not opposing like in a bus 2) The temp control buttons below the screen cannot be seen in the dark - no backing light yes I know you can do it in the screen but for a quick flick up and flick down when driving in the dark its difficult. The infotainment also has a volume control that you cannot use in the dark but that's ok as you can do it on the steering wheel. 3) Delay when interacting with infotainment 4) Window controls - the fact you have to press the "rear" button to convert the switches to control the rear windows. Just have four switches... 5) Door lock when driveaway - you cant turn it off without OBDII in V1 6) Front windows look oddly shaped - too many angles - this is not really a problem - I just noticed it and thought "huh?" 7) speaking of looks. The front nose section of the car sometimes just catches my eyes as "something odd about it"
The best looking variant of the ID3 in my opinion. Love the Cupra logo and the copper styling. Seats look nice. Now.. if they would just give it better performance.. befitting of those looks, we would have something: a 150 kw motor w/ 0-60 of 7.3seconds is sad, when a 200kW motor w/ a 0-60 in mid 6s would not have cost much more at all for them to produce- just look at the Chevy Bolt, price is less than the Cupra Born, 200 kW motor and 0-60 in 6.5 seconds, (yes I know the Bolt is somewhat lacking in the style department but the performance is great). Of course I am looking at this from a U.S. Centric lens... I like how you have the EV News Daily Podcast loaded up... you should charge Marytn for the "Product Placement" . Great review as always!
Thanks Rajeev. Yes, CUPRA is or was known as a sporty hot hatch but this is not that. Maybe they're holding back performance for future versions like the ID.3 GTX etc. I'll get an invoice over to Martyn asap 🤣🤣
@@entity_dragons2013 : that is good to know. I will say I am surprised at the 0-60 time being 6.7 seconds as the vehicle is both heavier and has 50 kW less power than the Chevy Bolt, which does 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. Also.. I have seen videos of the Cupra Born w/ "eBoost" and 231 HP, doing 0-60 in 6.4 seconds after multiple runs.
Car wow just used timing gear to test the 0-60, quoted at 7.3 but the car done it in 6.7, cupra are known for over stating their times. This was a non E boost model also so I’d imagine low 6’s for this
have a 211 ID3 but just got a quote on a Born e-boost for Q1 23 delivery. Feels a lot more finished than the ID3, especially on the inside. Giving myself the weekend to decide whether to switch over early or wait until the end of the term.
Thanks for the comment. I'll throw something else in the mix. I saw the refreshed Born in Spain last week. Just a facelift with new headlights. No idea when it's hitting the showrooms
Great review I think this car compared to id3 or 4 is much more stylish not a lover of Id model bit too boxes but this looks very good I have a ev 6 and this car you have reviewed seems like great value for money
Thanks for the comment leahy202. As mentioned in the video, I don't know anyone who is choosing the ID over this. Your EV 6 is a great car! Bigger and more expensive but still a great car
I really like the look of the Born and the interior over the ID3 which i already have so i am considering maybe switching in the future . However it is quite a bit more expensive when you do the sums . My ID3 Max cost about the same as the Born V3 , however my Max came with double boot floor , panoramic roof , semi active adjustable shocks which are brilliant and also illuminated door handles all as standard kit. to add all these to the V3 is another £2,500 , plus my preferred colour , that lovely blue , another £840 , ouch !
@@NevoEVReviewIreland only 4 weeks when it arrives and after a couple of weeks of ownership I'll invite you to the Shed and we will do a dual video P.G
I like your reviews very much. As a constructive criticism it'd be great if you got details like price, range and available batteries out of the way early on in the review.
Thanks for the question. From emory, the born has sportier and slightly firmer seat but better support. The ID. 3 seater were flatter and softer in my opinion
Would be great to see some direct comparison videos for similar cars in a given range e.g this Vs the id3 would be great to have in addition to the solitary review videos. Like with side by side of stats on screen and your recommendation on what kind of user would prefer each!
@@NevoEVReviewIreland oh no I don't mean a video of side by side It can just be yourself talking to camera with your vibes and some tables overlaid on screen! Your thoughts on ID3 was what sold me on it so just curious to see you talk about differences!
Love this car - but the problem is that the infotainment systems from Volkswagen are severely underpowered in terms of hardware (or just poor software dev) and uses 3-4 seconds to respond. In my opinion, the car is broken when you reach this kind of response time. So sad.
Every one who says the 0-60 in 7.8 seconds, it's more likely 6.7 the true figure. I have purchased one and I assure you all it's more than fast enough to put a smile on your face
Hi Derek great video, are there any plans to open the Tesla chargers to other EVs - in Birdhill last evening looking to rapid charge all unoccupied & no use to me. I think they have opened them up in UK Keep up the good work.
Collecting mine in the next 2 days, went for the 58kw eboost in white. Only ordered start of November. Can't wait to get it 😍
I'm looking forward to trying the eboost!
Great review Derek, extremely informative!
Thanks David. Appreciate the comment.
Love the Cupra design, it's gorgeous. Cupra are showing VW how to design an EV. A panaromic roof would be a great option.
Thanks for the comment Phillip. Agree on the design and sunroof!
Better than id3 and 4 but not a fan of the dash. Too utilitarian for me.
Great video.
Thanks.

Love it, will definitely be looking into getting one. That blue is unreal, it's nice in black to
Thanks Eoin. I have only seen it in the chalk grey so looking forward to seeing it in other colours
GET MINE ON TUESDAY, CAN'T WAIT!
Nice Steve. What colour did you go for?
The seats look really comfortable
Very comfy but an optional extra. Thanks for the comment.

Really good, informative review. Would love to see you do a detailed comparison between Cupra Born and the E Megane
Now there's a great match up. Thanks for the comment bjpm1969
Are the seats comfy in the born or id3? I do a lot of driving.

Thanks for the comment and great to hear from an actual owner. It's a great car and safe driving
carwow measured 0-60 in 6.7s
I test drove one for an hour, how anyone can say it’s slow is mind boggling! I’ve ordered one, should be here end of September
omg it so nice the best lookin car that ive ever cared anythin about
Thanks Pierre. Glad you like it
Derek any screen or software issues whilst u had it.
Buddy’s one is constantly throwing up warnings
Just slow as you can see when I get in but no warnings for the week I had it. I wonder what software version are they on?
I currently have a Formentor PHEV.
I can really see the Born replace it. Well, that or a Model3.
2 nice choices there! Thanks for the comment Derek
No dealers in n.ireland so cannot order ..love some of the styling.
Oh I never thought about that! Pity and I'm sure they'll get one on board.
@@NevoEVReviewIreland Yes it is unfortunate, same for Genesis..no shipping /back up service for N.ireland..GV60 was my first choice.
No Genesis down here too...yet
Can you plug a device into the Born (V2L)?
Not yet Sam. Thanks for the question.
my cloest dealer is 25 miles away, plus if you like a long range modle you will have to pay quite a bit more on top of that, so not my first choice.
Thanks for the comment Hui Yu. What would you go for instead?
my closest dealer is 100miles away, but no problem :)

I'd say so but no official word yet
The part at 3:52 makes it not an option automatically. Terrible interface lag.
Due a software update I'm told. Thanks for the comment
We need more electric cars that aren't SUV type things.
Totally agree. Unfortunately the market does not
Could you put your feet under the seat when in the back?
If I remember correctly, yes I could
