    I really like this Cupra Born. I like the ID.3 and I think this Born is an ID.3 made even better (just kinda sad it lost the ID Light).
    Now I'd love Cupra to put the Urban Rebel on the market, it just looks like a life size RC Car, I love it !

    I drove an id3 recently , too high driving position, utterly catastrophic interior , your Cupra is visually a big improvement. Just don’t get a flat tyre .

    Thanks for another great review, 5 star, was waiting for this one but you didnt keep us waiting long, much nicer than the id3, starting price not bad, but of course like most models there are up to 4 packs which you can specify which adds well to the price

    Always enjoy your reviews Nobby, must admit I like that better over the ID3 especially with the Cupra "Decepticon" logo. As much as the 18" wheels are more sensible for ride over the 19's I don't like the design of the 18's tho' I know they've been designed with aerodynamics in mind.

      Just larger batteries essentially or kW charging is how fast they can charge. A home / on street at side of the road charger will charge an EV to full in around 8-10 hours. A 'fast' charger is what you'll find in a garage, generally 50kW and above. They can do 20-80% in around 25-40 mins. Model depending obviously, some are faster, some are slower.

    Great review Nobby, keep them up! I will be giving a serious thought to a switch to electric next year. This last year my current car has sat on the driveway apparently appreciating in value (crazy times) so getting into a Born could be a logical move.

    Mark. Excellent review. However yet another cookie cut E 'car'?? Use the expression loosely!... What is the VW Group trying to do? Along with that most dreadful of all 'E' brands, Tesla, the id.... same, same, same. is on course to put so many people off considering an electric vehicle. Awful on a whole new scale. As i have said before Mini, BMW i3, Corsa and 208 are getting it right. The rest? And Kia, Audi etc etc Just stop! It hurts. Enough. Produce good designed 'everyday' vehicles for every day people.

    • @ianf3274
      @ianf3274 2 роки тому

      when you say 'everyday' do you mean cheap ?

    • @MrGrentch
      @MrGrentch 2 роки тому

      Much of it is down to safety regulations. So things like thick A, B and C pillars are a given, high waisted door lines and bulbous bonnet lines another. Designers have to work within a smaller "box" as it were. The BMW i3 and the Mini are older designs and probably wouldn't pass new and future regs today. Secondly they have to be world cars so keeping things overall bland to cover their bases is also in play. The same car has to sell in the US as well as Italy. Costs are another big factor. Margins are very tight so you get lots of parts matching to keep those costs down.

    • @TheFlemmo123
      @TheFlemmo123 2 роки тому

      How is the i3 an everyday vehicle?!?!

    • @ClarionCaww
      @ClarionCaww 2 роки тому +1

      Electric cars are the ultimate everyday car! They are nippy, lovely to drive and you can charge them from home anytime you want without having to pull up to filling station in the rain, wait and fill you your car with expensive and dirty diesel or petrol. The only thing I can think of (but this is changing all the time) is the range, people that work in sales for example or those that commute very long distances daily, then you may need to stop off more and charging might take longer than would filling with fuel (again this is improving all the time) and planning might be required. So for the majority of people, on this very small island of ours, an EV makes total sense. And I'll also remind you that you won't have any choice on anything else in the not too distant future as fossil fuel vehicles will no longer be produced in Germany by 2030, so expecting the EU to drive the Ev transition and outright ban new fossil fuel vehicles from entering the market. Investment of course is needed for EU infrastructure and this has been recognized. But again by the time you own an EV, range and infrastructure will have greatly increased. As for why this and the ID3 looks the same, they share the same MEB platform that is groundup built for EV, thereby designed for battery placement, effeciency etc.. the cars you mentioned are still stuck in the past and most adapt their cars to suit EV, e.g. 100% EV design and not based on diesel/petrol based chassis. Having said that VW group, is the biggest car producer in the world, to get their it shares it's platforms and tech with each of it's brands, such as the Tiguain/Ateca/Q3/Karoq, so you are virtually sitting in the same vehicle with exception of very different levels of trim and luxury!
