New subscriber here from the States....Really awesome video.. I am about to star on my 1928 Morgan/GN special hillclimb racer build as soon as I can get out to the shed and it is not super cold.... I have been sourcing metalworking and woodworking equipment and I plan on making videos of that process as well..I found ht coolest drill press/tapping machine that was used too make fuselages in the 40's or even earlier.. thanks for your inspiration my friends...-John
Hi Norman. I have no doubt that your hardened and ground pins will be perfect. Your processing seemed very sound and your scientific (😂) stress testing was by the book (🫣🥴). Excellent progress. Thank you for your videos this year. I takes a lot of effort and it is really appreciated. Merry Christmas to you and your family. 🎅🤶👍🍷
@@andrewdolinskiatcarpathian Thanks for all the support mate. Makes it worth while filming it!! The only thing missing from my professional testing was a white lab coat. Have a good one Cheers
Happy Christmas Norman. I do love your grinding arrangement with the adept lathe that seems to works really well. I’ve seen others on UA-cam use the set of files of different hardness which give you some indication of the the hardness of the the substrate but as you say you want to retain some toughness in the steel as the pins will be subject to some shear forces.
I use various kilns for heat treating metal and ceramics in my occupation as a Dental Technician! beware the cheap Chinese kilns, they get a CE mark by putting that Mickey Mouse catch on the door. Do not trust that insulation of the heating element when you are poking your metal tongs in there( learned by my own mistake!) I knew exactly what would happen when you put your oily tongs in there - could have lost your beard! Great series for us frustrated engineers who only get to work on minature projects for peoples mouths.
Merry Christmas Norman to you and yours, all the best for 2025. Brutal… stay well.
Merry Christmas Norman 🎄and a happy new year. See you in 2025 back on the channel. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
