Pete is one of those rare guitarist mixes of technical proficiency and interesting and emotional playing, without sacrificing one or the other. My socks are knocked off every time I watch one of his videos. I love this channel.
You have to give Death a listen if you like such type of playing/writing. I would recommend Symbolic or The Sound Of Perseverance if you don't already know them.
Wow, thanks so much Pete! Love that Wolfgang - & I'm a drummer too so hearing live drums on a Pete demo was sick. Really appreciate it, great playing as always.
Hey Pete when are you finally going to learn how to play the guitar ? The way you stumble through these demos is beyond me.. Look I had to try and come up with up with something new, because I am tired of telling you how good you are Pete. Another great demo..
This is absolutely the best review and demo of that pedal out there, great job! I wish there was an easy way to switch the aggression modes during a song as it's an already expensive pedal.
Man, this pedal has been awesome in 100% of the demos i've seen, both in rock and metal playing. I'm gonna have to get one sometime, and i've never used a pedal for distortion since i was a beginner over 20 years ago. It sounds so much like an amp.
My fave distortion pedal in forever... have had it for about a couple of years or so... to me it actually sounds best at lower gain for a crunchier tone
I love the chugga chugga and the chuns as much as the next neck beard, but man it was cool to hear you play it in more of a hard rock/heavy metal context. Love your playing style and all the sweet vids. Cheers bro!
Great job showing what this pedal can do. I also use mine direct into the front of an amp; it sounds better to me this way. This pedal is very tight and tracks extremely well and is one of the few distortion pedals that can be run on a semi-dirty amp and sound great. This pedal gives a lot of liquid sustain and is very versatile. Never sell this baby.
Awesome demo as always Pete ! Would've loved to hear it used as a preamp too. By the way the main riff from the track has such an amazing Alice In Chains vibe, I loved it ! It reminded me of "The One You Know" from their latest album !
Was waiting for Pete to demo this pedal - now I can buy it. Killer demo as always Pete. Revv stepping up and knocking it out of the park with this one.
Another stellar video with the magnanimous tones of the almighty Pete Thorn. ;) This track & this unit sound truly tsunami-genic. Thanks for the demos PT.
This is the second pedal you’ve demoed and I’m buying. The Freqout was great. Right now my setup is HX Effects (to run ideas) , Keeley Compressor Plus, Friedman BE/OD, Keeley Caverns V2, Big Muff with tone wicker, and Green Russian Big Muff. The tone wicker big muff will get replaced by this Revv G3. The Freqout started this saga of sound, so on to the next to finish my board. Keep up the demos!
I bought this and while I was stunned at first with its organic sound, I soon found out that I was unable to cut through the mix in a heavy band context. It really pissed me off, no matter the tweak I couldn't find a meaty edgy tone. Plus its very fizzy and harsh on the highs. Sold it after six months for some good buck
I know the video is bit dated, but did tried both, and the 'Red' G3 suits me better. I strongly advise it also, in case you're searching for classic 'Hard-Rock' sounds, killer pedal! I do collect 'Distortion/Overdrives' ,from all flavours, but the Revv G3 is a plus, in my pedal board. Great addiction! (and I'm i bit peaky about pedals).
Good review and pedal sounds great. My only concern is if you want to use both sounds from the aggression switch you have to bend down to your pedalboard and flip the switch. Not very friendly for live applications. Otherwise very cool.
Cara fantástico! Acompanho seu canal algum tempo e, sinceramente, seu feeling é sensacional! Ainda chego no seu nível! Muito sucesso! E manda um abraço para o Brasil! Obrigado. Fantastic guy! I follow your channel for some time and, frankly, your feeling is sensational! I'm still at your level! Very successful! And send a hug to Brazil! Thank you.
How does it sound for bass? It sounds pretty nice, and I like that aggression switch. It might be a good replacement for my FAB metal and distortion pedals.
just wanted to say the Boss Metal zone detroys this pedal! I had my cousins over yesterday to watch the game, Canadiens beat Boston in overtime by the way, and I had just bought the revv a couple of weeks ago and had rebough the metal zone. I had one in the 80's. so I start with the revv got an ok distortion but found that I couldnt tweek it any better and that it did not satisfy me, just missing perfection you know? this is paired with the Boss equalizer by the way in a v shap. so then I decide to try the metal zone that I know is very heavy, so I start tweeking to him playing this very heavy riff non stop and found many different cruching sounds but at the end of maybe 5min I found heaven no words could really explain it except for perfection. and even had room. but this spot simply was IT! crushed the revv to bites. it's distortion at max and the two middle button facing each other top and bottom buttons. the first 2 at 9 oclock and the second two at 3 oclock. around there you will find pure eargasm. Its the same as in the 80's I remembered I had the first 2 at 8 and the second 2 at 4 oclock. very close depends who's playing and pick ups etc.. but still around the same thing. this is in front of the amp. this amp has no fx loop but I remember in does days I had a peavy that had an fxloop and it sounded great both ways. The revv will be put on sale. I also have the Sabbra Cadabra for the sabbath sound that I will keep for now. I just got the Swollen Pickle for fuzz that I will be trying out. In conclusion for good distortion and huge versitility I recommend the metal zone hands down :)
sounds great on here with your setup, but theres a chance one of us could buy it & not get that great killer tone we hear here. whole lotta factors involved guitar, pickups, cables, amp, speakers, cabinet, No mics, room acoustics etc.
Hi Pete, first of all, thank you for all the precious information. Just to understand the flexibility of that pedal: is it possible to have something like the Tubescreamer (in timbre and with lowest gain)? And is it possible to use it as a clean boost? (or is it coloured?) Thank you!
Im actually thinking of using this pedal instead of amp sims for recording! I just like using hardware but I can't really go out and buy a rev20 or fireball ya know?
Pete, awesome as always. Quick q- I’m considering changing pickups away from the Anderson H3/H1 set. They sound great, but I’m looking for the same modern feel with more even EQing and compression. Any recommendations? I play entirely direct, so versatility (but still a bit heavy) is the goal. Thanks!
Pete what do you think of the Revv Generator MKII and Dynamis 7-40. I am trying to make the decision on this amp and appreciate your input. I can not find a good compare video anywhere.
It is just SO high gain, I can’t use it with my always-on boost, this thing seems to do best on a totally clean amp, or at least, I need to turn off my Boost, it was more manageable w single coils, but w humbuckers the gain seemed a tad too high to stack with anything, this ain’t Boost, it ain’t overdrive..its distortion baby! but seriously, it does sound great, like modern arena rock in a box, definitely very “new school” hard rock

Hey thanks man! I appreciate it, thanks for watching!

Wow, thanks so much Pete!
Love that Wolfgang - & I'm a drummer too so hearing live drums on a Pete demo was sick.

Hey thanks! sorry it took so long!
Dude, i just got this pedal too! I'm digging it for portable hi gain.
Heya RJ ya it’s a good one!
Yep .. The ole' wifey knows when I watch a demo vid all the way through, a package(s) will be delivered soon .. Great demo Pete .. Rock On !!.
A “package will be delivered soon”. Watching the video all the way through means sex follows?
Hey Pete when are you finally going to learn how to play the guitar ? The way you stumble through these demos is beyond me..
Look I had to try and come up with up with something new, because I am tired of telling you how good you are Pete. Another great demo..
@Odell Mateo Did you read my whole comment or are you just showimg me that you can't spell what ?
Odell Mateo oh you want to marry me. Cool story bro
This is absolutely the best review and demo of that pedal out there, great job! I wish there was an easy way to switch the aggression modes during a song as it's an already expensive pedal.

In my opinion, Pete is the one that can be trusted with regard to the demo of equipment. (IMHO) Thumbs up Mr Thorn.
Remember though, he does get paid.... He's a video ad.. Find one pedal here he hates...
Yeah its true therefore he called demo not review. If you like review you need to look around. This is about your ears...
Such a cool comment section Not one hater here. Pete you make the internet better... thank you.
Awesome Video as always by the way...
I hate you. There.
Although I love PT.
Y.T. Sobriquet well you feel someway about me at least so that’s quite nice :D
My fave distortion pedal in forever... have had it for about a couple of years or so... to me it actually sounds best at lower gain for a crunchier tone

Lol bro that comment was funny. But for real Pete is a monster player and fucking killed that intro! 🤘
Pete "Metal" Thorn ! Amazing review and amazing sound like always :)
Everything I want…. you’ve done a kickass demo!
This pedal is very high on my wish list
Distortion pedals have come a long way in the last years. Great playing Pete!
Man, it is so fun to watch these videos! Everything together and then everything seperate, so cool!!
I picked up this pedal on its first production run from what I'd seen on UA-cam. Every time I stomp on it I'm never disappointed. So good.
Best review I have seen for this pedal. Just ordered mine today!
Great job showing what this pedal can do. I also use mine direct into the front of an amp; it sounds better to me this way. Totally what I was going for ha u nailed it
It's more like that song was a sketch and Pete finished it.
Cool playing and pedal
Was waiting for Pete to demo this pedal - now I can buy it. Killer demo as always Pete. Revv stepping up and knocking it out of the park with this one.
When you come to see a hyped peoduct, but then Pete steels the show as always hahah! What a guy! Keep rocking, man!
Your channel is just more professional than most on here. Thanks Pete
Thanks Anthony
@@PeteThorn I preferred this over the 4. Great sounds as always sir
Another stellar video with the magnanimous tones of the almighty Pete Thorn. ;)

Yes! big sound! And killer riff!!!
Awesome review as always Pete❤

Great demostration Pete! very nice box of rock and metal!!
That lick from 1:15 to 1:20, going from minor to major was so sick! Your amazing Pete!
I remember when these came out. There was SO MANY YT'ers doing reviews it became a joke. Still a very good sounding pedal. Nice job Pete!
I bought this and while I was stunned at first with its organic sound, I soon found out that I was unable to cut through the mix in a heavy band context. If i had seen your post earlier, i wouldn't have bought it! Just hot in😪
Just got one of these. Awesome sounding pedal with really strong eq
just ordered mine ! thanks for the demo , it sounds amazing i hope it is gona be as good live.
such a great demo as always Pete!!!!!
This track needs to go on Pete Thorn III
She did kick ass, and you did, too! Loved the heavy!!!
Always the best vids and songs Pete! Love the new album btw👍
Very cool vid Pete. I play Revv amps and own the G3. Awesome gear and aeesome people!
Loved the drums, really cool and sounds awesome!
Everything sounds amazing! Thank you again for another great demo and music!
I have all three (2 G2 pedals, one clean/edge of breakup, one medium gain) as preamps into a Two Notes CAB M+. They sound great.
(and I'm i bit peaky about pedals).
nice to hear the heavier sound, always prefer those demos myself
Totally bad ass.... Can't wait to get one... O yea!... Thanks revv for putting out a true metal pedal
Killer tune ! Love the real drums great mix ! Pete the Machine !
And that is how you demo a pedal
Absolutely!
Correct, I nearly never watched as it’s about the last review on it, well worth it.
Yep. Bang on!
Right? Very good review
YES was waiting for it for so long
Wow Pete on point as always!
Great demo as always!
Just bought this, stoked!!
hello! seen ya on Max's channel and now ya got a new subscriber!
5years ago cant believe i had my G 3 that long i missed your demo of this pedal? maybe i did see it 😂 i feel like iam 63 lately 😅
Awesome playing as ever Pete
Mto legal o som desse pedal. Não conhecia. Abraços e bends
Great opening song, massive drum!
Good review and pedal sounds great. My only concern is if you want to use both sounds from the aggression switch you have to bend down to your pedalboard and flip the switch. Not very friendly for live applications. Otherwise very cool.
so sad I missed his clinic in Edmonton Alberta. Hope he comes back again
That sounded killer man 🤘 🎸 🔥 pedal sounds phenomenal!!

Great track with a great sound!
If there is a pedal that Pete cannot make sound good, I would love to know what it is. Great review as always. Pedal sounds great (as always).
great sound you are at the top as ever
How does it sound for bass? It sounds pretty nice, and I like that aggression switch. It might be a good replacement for my FAB metal and distortion pedals.
You are a great guitarrist🎸a great musician 😉congratulations 👏❤
Nice review Pete. It would be great to see you live. When’s the Pete Thorn U.S. Tour begin?
Great! Sound insuperable!!!
Mine sounds very thin. After going back and forth with the REVV guys, i might send it to them to check out.
Thanks for the demo. I ordered the Canada Day limited edition last week. Super pumped. Were you using it in front of your amp or as a preamp?
In front of amp

Awesome review! I wonder how this pedal would sound with a Precision Drive in front of it.
Your shirt kinda matches the pedal. Nice! Even if you demo this thing with your Phone its still sounds good.
Wow! I don't even play that style and I like it!
Miss Bowman did kick ass on that!
I own one of these they sound amazing
May I ask how you're running it? :)
Thanks dude!
@@bofuscrapshaw Cheers mate, looks like one might have to make it's way to me soon haha
Hey Pete what is the best pedal off distortion this one Revv g3 VS jhs angry charlie v3??? Whitch beter?tkanks
real fucking nice demo !

Awesome, ordered.
one does not dislike a Pete Thorn creation
Please make a Revv G3 demo with Iridium direct out! There’s any metal demo of Iridium still. Great video bro
Pete and Britt ❤️❤️❤️
Some badass playing man

Pete, you are tha man!
Dang it! Pete just did another demo of an awesome pedal! Time to have to explain to the wife why I spent some more money.
Can we ask do you use the revv g3 or multi effect prosesor
Just ordered mine! I dont have an amp or cab though. Can you run other OD's in front of this? to add characteristics
Pete what do you think of the Revv Generator MKII and Dynamis 7-40. I am trying to make the decision on this amp and appreciate your input. I can not find a good compare video anywhere.
Did you plug it directly to the audio interface? Or did you have an actual amp/cab/mic?
It is just SO high gain, I can’t use it with my always-on boost, this thing seems to do best on a totally clean amp, or at least, I need to turn off my Boost, it was more manageable w single coils, but w humbuckers the gain seemed a tad too high to stack with anything, this ain’t Boost, it ain’t overdrive..its distortion baby! but seriously, it does sound great, like modern arena rock in a box, definitely very “new school” hard rock
It's not meant to boost dirty signals.
Well, that goes way beyond overdrive... sounds great, though. Good demo, Pete.
I went from wanting to hear the pedal to needing to learn that fucking killer solo
Any thoughts on this one vs the Suhr Riot?
Damm what speakers you running on this Pete??
Awesome thanks!
Tried it on my Friedman runt20 clean, it’s killer.. but still prefer my runt gain)
Sick song!!!!!!!! GREAT:D!!!!
