just got mine today. the justification in my head was if I'm going to be buying a console this late into its life cycle, at least it'll be a collector's piece lol but I gotta say, it looks even nicer in person. maybe it's just my overall surprise at the build quality of the OLED itself, but I'm really happy I picked one up
Also trying to justify it, especially since I mostly game on my Steamdeck now. Still, I’ve had every console and I’ve never bought a special edition one or an updated one before and I really want to play on an OLED screen for this Zelda. Also, I’d need to buy new joycons for my other switch anyway. I’m also wondering what I’m going to do when a new indie game I want is on steam and Nintendo and I although I’d really rather have a game on steam over switch, I’m going to really want to play it with an oled.

I just picked mine up! Only problem ive comr across is loose joycons. Any chance your joycons habe play forwards and backwards? Front to back for me have some major play compared to my V2!

PRESENCE is subjective. I've already explained this more than once. It isn't that hard. Despite me "prefering" the Zelda switch. I can observe that the back of the Pokemons switch was better designed even if isn't my taste.

Not even a Zelda fan but this is beautiful. Really liked the textured back. It's tempting even though I just got my OLED recently haha
I bought it anyway…at the very least it will be very profitable to sell it in the future once you can’t find it anymore. I paid $900 for a brand new new Nintendo 3DS XL limited edition Mario recently so I know how much value is in these limited editions consoles.

I just ordered it last week June 6th on Nintendo’s website. Surprised I was still able to get it. The game stops I went to said it would be impossible to get. Odd they didn’t know Nintendo’s website still has them.
When I was 12 years old, my mom bought me the Zelda Windwaker special edition gamecube. Now I’m going to buy this for my 6 year old son. It’s too bad it doesn’t come with the game though, or a game at all.
the dock is easily the best looking out of all the special editions. I just dont like how the only green is on the joycon…

I just picked mine up. It is such a gorgeous switch but I'm surprised it took us this long to get a Zelda themed switch.
The only thing I didn't like for this model ( OLED) is that it is somewhat difficult to open the card slot for the game cartridges compared to the classic Switch design
It's an atrocious design as a console and as a portable device. My phone has more comfortable gaming, and the console has the lowest resolution of any console on the market. Add in that you're playing with cheap, plasticky SD cards and slots like it's 2005, and I'm going to go with "Nintendo doesn't think much of its users." They have a monopoly on Mario and Zelda, so they think they can throw out any junk hardware, and people will buy it. And they're right for about the next 5 years. But as the Zelda and Mario nostalgia wears thin, and they're just another game to current-gen gamers, they're going to be hard-pressed to sell an antiquated piece of hardware like this ever again. It has lower resolution and storage than my iPhone. Its SD slot is made to break. And the idea of using SD cards to store a single game is absurd anyway, no one in their right mind would build a game collection digitally, and their mint-sized cartridges are so difficult to operate that it's like paying $356 for torture just to play a single game (Zelda).
The Switch is a failure both as a console and as a portable device. The iPhone offers a better gaming experience, and either the Xbox or PS5 are light years ahead in terms of gaming. The nostalgia factor worked this time because they have a monopoly on Mario and Zelda franchises, but my guess is without those two games, Nintendo would go under yesterday with this design. People don't buy a Switch. They buy the only console that can play Zelda and Mario. Those two crowds are aging and will eventually say, "I'm going to buy $356 worth of PS5 games instead."

I have a normal switch but I LOVE ZELDA I have Skyward, Sword Breath Of The Wild, and Tears Of The Kingdom.

It is still a Switch OLED, just for an extra $10 USD it has a Zelda theme on it.

Well if they packed in the game, price would shoot up an additional $70 USD, and (like majority of bundles) would just be a digital download code.
Rather buy the game physical and get this Zelda Switch OLED without being forced to pay for a digital copy as well.

For me at least, the Splatoon Edition is by far the best design. It looks great in person.
While i fully agree with you, i will only buy it because its zelda special edition, nothing more.
Not true. The only thing nice about the Splatoon switch is the joycons. The back of it is a bit underwelming. And the Pokemon oled switch has the best designed back. And the Zelda one has the nicest designed switch dock. By no mean is the any one of them "by far" better than the other. If we can get a switch that has effort out into the joycons, black of the console, as well as the dock than that would be the best designed switch.
@@kenk5269 Not true. The splatoon switch is just as underwelming on the back just like the Zelda one. The only thing special about it is its joycons. The best designed dock is the Zelda one, the best designed back is the Pokemon one and the most eye catching joycons is the Splatoon one. None of them is "by far" better designed than the other.

@@chilly6470 Not true at all. The pocket switch has a nice back. And this is coming from someone who doesn't even like the Pokemon games and thus has no bias for any of these games. But I can give credit where it is due. The design on the back is the nicest and most eye catching. The splatoon and Zelda switch back design could have been better, it is hardly even visible.

No. This Special Edition Switch OLED is $360 USD ($10 more than regular Switch OLED).
If they bundled the game, price would shoot up to $430, and like other bundles (across Sony, Nintendo & Microsoft) would just be a digital download code. If you prefer physical, then you be adding another $70 ontop of that $430.
Does anyone else who picked one up have a factory seal? Mine didn't. I wasn't sure if they came like that or if someone opened it up.
I’ve had a few variations of switches and not one of mine had a factory seal including the new Zelda one so it’s normal to not have one. Although I think they should have one.

Has anyone noticed the difference in the construction of this model? this model is lighter than the normal OLED model, and I don't think they used aluminum here (kickstand and front in old OLED is made from Aluminium)
Mmmm. interesting I will have to check when I pick it up. I have the current oled model so I can do a comparison and see if maybe Nintendo swapped out that aluminum.
Maybe it’s just the difference in texture due to the pattern on the back?
I suspect cheaper materials, higher customer price for the stickers. Same old hardware. More plastic and maybe cheaper battery? Idk. But I expect everything nowadays from Nintendo.

@@watcher42 Yep, it feels like a cheap toy. Nintendo better enjoy their last run here. This is the single worst gaming console I've ever played. Inconvenient, almost no storage at all, overpriced tic-tacs for game cartridges, a 2005 game-slot design meant to break, and OLED basically comes down to (Still half as good as 4K). Zelda and Mario are the only reason people buy this console anyway. As that nostalgia wears down, my guess is they're going to act super surprised when no one buys their kinder egg of a PSP again.
pokémon and splatoon edition are better looking in my opinion but this zelda console is still very good looking
I bought this console thinking it would’ve had the game because i confused it with ps5 (GOWR bundle ) and I thought it was going to be the same thing but I was wrong . They should’ve included the game and this would’ve been the best bundle 🤦🏽♂️

The fact that this doesn't even come with the Tears of the Kingdom game is absolutely bullcrap I'm getting my very first Switch console and this is the one I'm getting and I noticed that it didn't even come with the game so on top of the almost $400 price for the console its self is crazy I had to spend another $60 something dollars just for the game so in total I spent around $460 for the console and the game I haven't gotten my console or my game yet but I really hope that it doesn't disappoint

I pre ordered this. But I returned it. The slight changes aren't worth the nearly $400 it was with the tax. I'll stick with my animal crossing V2 switch and I'll wait until they release an actual Switch 2. And not the little revisions.
Definitely picking this one up!! Game of the Year to be, special edition console, YES , it’s a keeper, and keeping it SEALED for years to come. Historic games gain value, hands down, meanwhile I can display it!!

I am sure TOTK will be huge but unless many I'll doubt it will break launch records especially the one Pokémon S/V set for te biggest launch of any Video game of all time (10 million+ in just 3 Days!!!). I can see ~5- 5,5 Million in 3 days absolute maximum!! It sure will boost Switch hardware sales again for some time! Lifetime I am expecting at least 10- 15 million maximum! Switch UP will be out in March 2025

Wow, you (all) bought the same hardware again for some shiny stickers. Seriously, Nintendo can sell the same hardware over and over with minor modifications like a new display or prints and fans will buy it. My switch will die of old age. Awaiting Nintendo will release a revision with more power or new generation. I'm sure it's possible to boost the chip for a smoother frame rate etc. I mean even the new Zelda TotK has performance issues. If you want 60 fps and HD resolution you must wait for the new generation. And maybe you have to pay again for a HD/remaster version. xD It's really disappointing.
