    Thank you! I have a long relationship had my first Aikido class in 1986! It was quite frustrating but I kept at it. My last class was in 2000…. Did several other martial arts before during and after, always incorporating Aikido into the techniques … always thinking about Aikido. Well, this video made it “click”. THANK YOU!!!

      Batushima yes, I can make a video for that. Nearly all of aikido techniques use exactly those movements. Some combine them together in a row. At Minute 11 I explain how two of them combine to form ikkyo omote from a shoulder grab. I draw out while “raising the sword” then enter while “cutting”.

      @@avigator sorry for the late reply, but practically if you are off the line of your opponents attack then you are on the outside. That gives you kicking and hitting options that they can't respond to effectively. It is a similar concept to the chinese martial art ba gua zhang.

      @@aiki-fitlife6446 I'm a big fan of practicing tai sabaki and these sort of practices. It actually has both meditative and practical purposes!
      Not only solo, but also with my students. A method (addition, better said) that you probably know, really useful aswell, is holding weights in your chest while you practice tai sabaki. It helps a lot to make sure you are keeping your back straight, if you feel pressure in your posture, means that you need to correct it.
      Cheers!

    This is going to be hard. But something deep inside says i need to learn Aikido. I can't resist it. I like they way you are build bro ! You must be extremely grounded. Seems like you won't need Aikido much ... Are there certain muscles that need to be developed more than others ? Looking at you I can't really tell ...

    • @aiki-fitlife6446
      @aiki-fitlife6446  5 років тому

      Electric Blue thank you. I have studied several different martial arts over my 30+ years of training. I believe when trained for application that aikido has better answers for many situations than some other arts.
      Aikido is about precise movement and angles. It is the relationship of motion between the bodies. Aikido uses the core and legs a great deal to facilitate effective movement, the arms and shoulders mostly deflect and guide the uke. The whole body is important to develope and one of the best ways to develops it in the best way is to practice the actual aikido movements. I like to also put weights with the movements when I am training alone. In this solo practice video notice how I keep my head level for most of the movements. My body is moving linearly beneath me. I want to be able to move without wasting energy fighting gravity unnecessarily.
      The Tenkan (180°turn around) I do push up then sink down and then sink down. Train to land in such a way as to expect a grown man to be falling into you. You must be very stable and grounded but not stuck.
      I hope this helps a bit. Good luck with your training.
