  • Gabi Rudnicka, a potter from Brazil, Stayed in Mashiko, Japan for 2 months to learn about Mashiko pottery. During her time in the Japanese pottery town, she was able to learn different methods from the local potters as well as make new friends including myself. She introduced me to many local potters and artists in Mashiko. If you've been at the Mashiko Tougei Club in the past two months, you probably got a glimpse of her working at the studio or teaching the basics of pottery to tourists.
During the end of her stay, she fired a compact wood kiln by herself using the methods she's learned from the past two months. She successfully created her own Mashiko-ware (Mashiko-yaki) with designs inspired by the flowing spring from her heritage.
