  • Embraced the Modernist principles of simplicity, truth to materials, form following function and the idea that less is more. The Moon Jar finally reveals its appearance after 18 century by a hand of ceramist Yang Gu and tells us a great lesson to our life.

I remember reading an article 30 years ago there were two contests: one would pay anyone a million dollars if they could produce an example of perfection and the other would pay a million dollars if they could produce an example of imperfection. Beautiful

I heard it from Namjoon. now I'm in love with this. how much patience sharp eyes and delicate hands it needs! even the art of imperfection needs perfection. the space in the moon jar is really welcoming and has it's own warmth. " Two become one" I like this.

I do love the finished products, but I feel watching the creative process is the actual art itself

Watching this again, and am still moved. Also this is the most complete and honest explanation of this process and art!

Art is subjective, life is imperfect and grasping for perfection is dillusional. light is illuminating but also adds depth to the shadows.

I don't really get what is so special about this jar until this video. Not unless you know how the artists makes the art would you understand why the Jar is so symbolic. Almost like a metaphor of life itself.

To make a perfect imperfect jar could also be called perfection, so why make so much fuss about it. There is not really anything you can call perfect or imperfect, these are just words. What does a perfect drop of water look like, for example ? It is all up to you if you finds anything perfect or imperfect. What would you consider is the perfect good weather ? If you want your vegetables to grow in your garden, then sunshine will be perfect some days and rainy weather on other days, and nights with neither sun or rain will be perfect a part of the time, so they do not dry out because of to much sun or rot in to large amounts of water 😊

Feels more like a "documentary" than an "instructional" video. Maybe for you to feel more what the artist is experiencing in his natural environment without light...just a guess though.
