Oh my gosh those butter lids and dishes and plates are stunning! Such beautiful designs, chattering and colors. I think I am first to comment, woo hoo!
@Vaughan Smith oh I am so happy! I did some chattering last year and then glazed, and it covered it up, lol. I learned my lesson, until I forget again.
Every time you pick something up you almost gave me a heart attack. You just rap them against the kiln shelf if they're a bit stuck and tossed them aside lol
Beautiful and well made pieces as always. I just love your attitude and love for your craft. Would it be improper to ask for the manufacturer of the last chattering tools you used.
Hi, from neighbor from NB :D First time watching your video! :) Beautiful work, grate glazes! Love your lids on the canisters! Thank you for the idea, how to fire butter dish tops! Love to make them, but have such disappointment all the time, they warp as I fire them directly on the shelf (rim not glazed) Would appreciate very much if you let me know what kind of stilts you use. Thank you!
My gosh Vaughn!! I am just loving everything! When I first saw the kids to the butter dishes it looked like the whale was diving into the top and the gray glaze makes it look like a splash of water from the diving whale!! Your creativity and artistic ability never ceases to amaze me. Absolutely beautiful!!!! I’d also like to ask you what brand of kiln stilts you use under your pots? I used mine in a cone 6 firing and they melted! Thanks
These are beautiful, as always, thanks for sharing. I believe that I’ve seen a video where you’ve shown how you grind down the bottoms of your pieces, do you have a video of how you grind the insides of curved pieces like your butter dish tops where the stilts create little spots? Do you use something like a dremel? Or a sanding sponge?
@@Ingefee I just hate using wax, it stinks when it burns off even with a vent a kiln. Once I went outside during the early part of a firing and I could smell it across the street. I just wondered what the neighbours were thinking I was doing, you never want to annoy your neighbours.
Since Bailey is so close I would go with them, better service availability. They are easy to repair and replace parts, which I show in a video later this month.
Do you have a video where you talk about how you sign your pots? If you've already discussed it, would you kindly point me towards it? For the life of me, I don't understand why canister's aren't more popular - who doesn't like a good lidded jar?!
I dont understand why your cookie stands inside don't stick permanently or ruin the insides. Sorry, im a beginner. I might have missed the part about how to glazefire things without touching the shelf

Thanks, the chattering tools are working great.

So many beautiful pieces. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks
I love that fish! You did a fantastic job on all your dish wares! The whale is also one of my favorites!
Thanks
I love the plates so much. Makes me think of the ocean!
Ocean or lake is fine. Though salty air is very relaxing.
The plates d incredibly beautiful. You are a inspiration
you have the most beautiful ceramic of internet! i have to go see your boutique, in my vacation...

Butter dishes and lids are really good Vaughn.. Im almost ready to try to make them
Make some, the first will be your least favourite but you will get better the more you do.
@@Vsmithpots Im excited but I cant get back out in my garage studio until it warms up a bit...
Oh my gosh! How beautiful. Those butter bells with the whales are gorgeous. I’m wondering about your stilts. Are you low firing? Thanks for the video
Cone 6. I have a video on making your own stilts.

A bit of cricket terminology 4 balls no runs ( 4 bowls no runs) 😄 Great combos as always. The radio station mugs look brilliant!!
Thanks

They are from Pottery Supply House in Toronto.
I love all of them

Dremmel works fine, I use a small hand held drill with a grinding attachment.
Vaughn, do you add any grit to your recycled clay when you run it through your pug mill?
No, my speckled clay has grit already.
I always enjoy watching your kiln openings. Such a magical time.
Do you hollow your whales or keep them solid?
The small ones are solid, thanks.
Bonjour je suis en admiration de votre travail et vos couleur magnifiques .
Merci.
I love your glazes! Do you ever wipe the bottoms of your pots?
Rarely, Flat ware always.
@@Vsmithpots Thank you. How do you feel about waxing the bottoms? I prefer to wipe to leave a glaze residue. I read that in Mattias Ostermann's book.

@@Vsmithpots So true!
I’m about to buy my first kiln. I see you are using a Bailey. I live about half an hour away from them. Do you recommend theirs, over Skutt and L&L?
Since Bailey is so close I would go with them, better service availability. They are easy to repair and replace parts, which I show in a video later this month.

It is black underglaze LUG1 using a Japanese paint brush. Don't water it down too much.
I looked up the auction. Disappointed it’s not an online auction!
You can call the radio station and put in a bid with a max. They will bid for you. (902) 693-2083
I saw some that are not glazed at the bottom. I guess runny glazes you wipe the bottoms. Got to know your glazes :)
Correct, intuition plays a large part.
I dont understand why your cookie stands inside don't stick permanently or ruin the insides. Sorry, im a beginner. I might have missed the part about how to glazefire things without touching the shelf
They are called stilts and have three thin metal pins that hold up the pot.
Why do you need to put them over the props?
So I can glaze the entire piece.
I realised that as I wrote it 🤣
