Cash-strapped monks open brewery in Massachusetts

- Trappist monks of St. Joseph's Abbey in Spencer, Mass., tapped into a long tradition of monks brewing beers after they were unable to pay their bills. CBS' Michelle Miller reports.
I lived there for a year and a half. Fr. Isaac was my novice master for a time and then my confessor. I know several of the other brothers in the vid as well, though some of the faces have changed. The community seems much smaller now.
I've tried Spencer Trappist ale, and it is truly supernatural. Godspeed, brothers.

Have you tried the English Trappist beer from Mount St Bernard Abbey? Tynt Meadow ale is truly wonderful as are all the 14 Trappist ales.

How do you know, they're god may have given them wisdom to come up with a solution.
God helps those who help themselves. They probably had the means to create the beer but a lot of Americans feel a disconnect between holy men brewing beer.
