After 40 years of being a devout protestant I began researching the roots of Christianity and the church fathers. This sent me on a journey that led to my recent conversion to the Catholic Church. I appreciate this video.
God bless you. Same thing happened to me after seeking God. I was at Moody Bible Institute and had to leave in my 3rd year as I was becoming Catholic. It has been a hard life since, as my wife is still a protestant. God have mercy on me
@@GospelSimplicity i didn't graduate. I was in my 3rd year, I attended from 2011 to 2013. Once I was convinced of the Catholic faith I spoke to many of my professors about it and they said they wouldn't in good conscience let me graduate if I truly assented to the Catholic faith. I left that semester because I thought it would be wrong to take another semesters worth of donor money for my education. I was not supported in my decision by anyone including my wife, who is still protestant. It was a very lonely time, but God was with me.
That's why I love this channel, I love that he can go into the various churches/traditions, is informative without being rude or negative or nasty about those who hold different religious beliefs than himself. He does a great job, 🙏😊🙏
I love the way you approached this. I'm a Catholic convert, so is my husband. Catholicism isn't an easy religion to live out, but I feel like it's the one that prepares us the most for death and gives the most meaning to suffering.
I can 100% agree, as a born an raised catholic, it is not easy at all but that is where the magic is. When you truly devote your life to Jesus. Blessings will rain down upon you. Take it from me a 23 years old knuckle head 😂
No monks or nuns in the Bible. No cardinals either, and Jesus commands us not to call religious leaders master rabbi or father. Bishops are commanded in the Bible to be the husband of one wife with children. The Bible teaches that salvation is by Grace through faith and not of works. Catholicism is not biblical which means it is devilish.

As a former Protestant that became Catholic 2 years ago, I love these virtual tours through different monasteries and churches. I find my faith grows every time I meet priests and monks at a seminary I visited. The biggest thing I learned from my experience is the Catholic faith is not just going to mass, but living every day in the faith. It is something I could never do before. I have so much I want to learn and these videos allow access where many don't get to see. Thank you!
Happy for you. Now you can consume Jesus, in good consciousness of course. Remember, we are what we eat. I’m walking in a season of my life where the Holy Spirit is softening my heart to understanding Catholicism. I’ve been convicted of harboring negative feelings toward the Catholic faith (raised Pentecostal and now Baptist) and I’m asking the Lord to open my eyes and correct me of misunderstanding. @@aisthpaoitht as a Protestant I really respect the catholic faith without works is dead, because 1 it’s biblical, and 2 I see way too many Christian’s do whatever they want. I just spent the weekend at Buckfast Abbey in England which has a monastic tradition which dates back a thousand years. Much of the prayer is in Latin and Mass is celebrated most days. I was received into the Catholic Church this Easter. God bless you all
I was a weakly formed and near lapsed Catholic. Simply being around Catholic men who were living their faith… that was a strong magnet that drew me deeper into the Catholic faith. It happened over 10 years, in steps… but if you’re like me, there is a unique flavor of truth in Catholic teachings, art, philosophy, prayers, traditions, etc. Hungry minds and hearts lead us to the true Church!! Our Lady and St. Joseph, pray for us!!
As a protestant who converted to Catholism 25 years ago, I can tell you that your spirit is hardwired to be a Catholic--probably because your ancestors were Catholics--and your life will continually turn you back towards the Catholic church...that will be part of your journey...the better and more spiritual you are, the more you turn toward Christ's true church, as it is revealed to you that this is the Church with the answers you seek because Christ started it and is at the head of it (protestant churches are all missing some piece of the entire Truth)...(the human foibles are in every church ever invented)...you would not be here unless you are a good person and are seeking a better path for your spirit...good luck on your journey to find Truth and Peace...dts/usa
Catholicism is built on easily proveable lies, just look at all the airs and graces the church gives itself the videos of the pope at Easter Mass alone even and tell me that's how Christ wanted people to live with a love of money, jewels and gems.

Many of us lay Catholics pray the Liturgy of the Hours. It is a way of structuring the day around praise of God, in union with the whole Church. Austin have you looked into the Liturgy of the Hours? A speaker on it would be great.
Thanks Austin! I am Roman Catholic. My family and I fast, and pray the daily rosary, and divine mercy at night. However, I feel like perhaps God is calling me to daily Mass specifically early in the morning.... This was a beautiful example of how layman live out their Catholic faith in a secular world. Thank you for the Inspiration
I am a father and became catholic but my wife is still a protestant. I wish I could lead my family to pray the rosary daily and attend mass together, but i fear my wife would divorce me, as she threatened in the past. god please have mercy on my soul
@devan1635 worship of Mary is idolatry, yes. the Rosary is literally mediation on the bible, each prayer is from the bible, and each mystery that you meditate on is from the bible.
@devan1635 Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and Blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
I spent most of my life as a protestant. Even graduating from a popular Christian University. An interest in early church history eventually lead to me becoming Catholic after many years of studying and understanding the doctrines . I have developed a more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ because of this. The sacrament of the Eucharist is truly life changing! Unfortunately, many protestants friends and pastors that I know believe it is a war. They are VERY anti-Catholic without true knowledge of the church doctrine. I know because I was raised with this prejudiced mindset. In fact, the church I attended before my conversion actually had the pastor preach this at his pulpit. The untruths that they spread saddens me. How much more must it sadden our Creator. Regardless, I am SO THANKFUL for my Catholic Faith.
Welp you see, I have exactly that experience but reversed - so Roman Catholic vs. Orthodox Church (which happens to be bigger "threat" in the area I live at, but also vs. protestant groups. "They" don't seem to care if you're not a believer though. It was only when I came to a live faith that I got to learn about other traditions. Every "body" wants their members.
The Real Presence in the Eucharist is game-set-match for me, end of all theological debates. John 6 is literal. It's what Jesus wants - "do THIS in memory of Me".
R Williams You should have believed the Gospel and you would never have been deceived by Romanism. I'm an ex cat. who trusted Jesus alone and was born again 40 years ago. This pagan counterfeit religion will reward your faithfulness with eternal torment in Hell. I'd rather go to Heaven and live this life secure in the knowledge, that Heaven is my eternal home! 🤗 😇
@ vere dictum You Pagans have been putting your gods in wafers for centuries before the LORD came. Look at your Roman religion historically and the only changes you made to it is name changes. Your Jesus is another Jesus. (false) Your gospel is another gospel. (fake & blasphemous!) Repent and leave this Satanic counterfeit religion or spend your eternity with the popes in everlasting torment. 😇
What a beautiful video ❤❤❤ God bless you, as catholic I really appreciate that a Protestant can see the beauty of Catholic Church and not judge the way we are usually judged. Thank you !!!
I discerned with a group of Dominican nuns a few years ago. Turns out being a cloistered nun is not for me, but I can relate to getting up super early for Morning Prayer! It's not easy, but it was AMAZING to be there in the church so early, the only layperson there until morning Mass.
As a Catholic, I understand that these vocations may not be for everyone. However, it has worked pretty well for others like Mother Dolores Hart, who was an actress before she chose to become a nun.
I had experience in monastery for 5 years. As an old catholic guy now I have always regretted leaving. It had to do with my deep personal feelings of inadequacy.
As always, you are able to connect people through your message and experience! Seeing a mirror in a monastery was new for me lol Thank you for sharing this experience with me :) May God bless you and guide you!
Austin, you spoke some inspiring words here! I admire your maturity not only at the level of theology - which is noticeable through your journey - but also as a true man of Christ. More so, whenever we understand (even better, experience) the power of prayer and contemplation we can even fulfill better our duties at both professional and personal levels, like being good husbands and good fathers, and most certainly act better on the lamentable and sinful reality of divisions. Congrats on your graduation and marriage! Happy days to come!
I can definitely agree on the importance of incorporating specific time for prayer in our daily life bringing us closer to God. When I can go for daily mass I go, unfortunately sometimes I can't because of work, so I just go on the weekends. For more than eight months I've been praying the rosary every day with the rosary crew, a couple of months ago I decided to add to my daily prayers the Divine Mercy chaplet, and through the day I try to find time to do prayers of petition, thanksgiving and adoration, including singing (even if it's in silence). I feel that the more we pray, the more we put in perspective how important is God in our lives and how much quality time we can dedicate to Him so our desire to get closer increases. Don't let the evil one fool you, there's always a way to find time in our day that we can dedicate to God.
For myself, I really want to go outside towards the woods behind my neighborhood at night and chant the Kyrie Eleison, but I'm afraid of coyotes and, honestly, people hearing me
Jesus said; we are to pray without ceasing. How do we do that? We do that by consciously uniting our will to the holy will of Gods. Then all that we are and all that we do becomes a prayer. Jesus said all of our time, talent and treasure belongs to Him, given to us by His grace, to glorify Him with. When we have this kind of mind set we make our entire life and work into a prayer that gives glory to God. God Bless! 🙏❤️
Praying that your journey of discernment brings you closer to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Thank you for sharing this with us. God Bless you.
I'm a protestant and if I were catholic I'd definitely join a monastery. Really I wish I could do it now. Living in community all working towards the same goal for our lord seems like the dream. So I really appreciate your video

@@TwizzElishus you have to be in full communion with the Catholic Church, ie be a bone fide Catholic, and in a state of grace (no unconfessed serious sins)
@@TwizzElishus you need to be Catholic. It’s a covenant physical bond, like the marital act. Therefore, the marital union is the framework for the act. It’s less about passing a quiz than being a member of the body, though there is certainly mental assent involved in becoming Catholic as an adult. Some of that is an act of the will, more than perfect intellectual understanding and assent. I’m not dodging a direct answer, it’s more the question you are asking (as I’m reading it) seems more about doctrinal lessons and less about family relationship. The relationship is the angle (or the lens) through which to look. Our orthodox brethren do not accept papal infallibility however we Catholics view them as same family and we can share the same sacramental meal (though the orthodox themselves disagree). We have lots of Doctrine, but what we are speaking about here is bigger than only doctrine. It’s family, bonds, relationships…it’s organic
@@limoncellosmith7594 Protestant pastors will teach that Catholics don’t have a personal relationship with Christ because they don’t make a public statement of faith in Christ. This is not only bizarre but stupid.
Something real special from catholicism is the adoración of the Holy Sacrament. Just by sitting and praying in front of The Holy Sacrament, I've felt incredible things; like a sweet heat that was coming to my heart, and made me feel as if I was melting. ❤
The unity is an issue. I converted to Catholicism from evangelical Church. My so called Protestant sisters and brothers or so I thought have done nothing but pounce for a theological debate with rapid fire arguments not even really having a full grasp of Catholics. They won’t even acknowledge we have the same gospel out of ignorance and it is very heart breaking. We really need to take the time and effort to understand one another at least so we know where we stand and why without cutting down others.

I think you're being honest and doing God's work. One thing is certain, those who seek will find. And the Holy Spirit will surely not lead you astray. Thank you for these videos.
It is SO refreshing to hear you speak on how heartbreaking it is to observe the rift between Catholicism and Protestantism. Anyone who tries to frame it as a conflict is focusing on the wrong battle! We are all brothers and sisters in Christ and any good Catholic or Protestant should be overjoyed to communicate with each other!
I highly recommend, if you're in America, to check out the monastery of Our Lady of Guadalupe in New Mexico. They are traditional Benedictine monks that chant the Divine Office in Latin and say the traditional mass. Cheers!
The beliefs and church structure that are held in common by both Catholic and Orthodox churches REALLY require a massive explanation from Protestant apologists.
I feel exactly as you when I see the divisions, they are profoundly heartbreaking! Unfortunately there are many who see it as a war, they espouse falsehoods and disparage others without opening their hearts, I hear the hurtful slander often in person, on radio and TV. I truly hope many can watch this and push away the barriers of prejudice, and work towards the unity our Lord prayed for. History has a long memory, but it is up to us and the Holy Spirit to be open to love. Remember Love, Mercy, and Forgiveness are at the heart of the Christian life. Pax Domini Sit Semper Vobiscum!
I love your willingness to simply listen and learn. I became Catholic a little over a year ago, yet am still involved in a Bible believing Church while attending mass regularly and praying for reconcilitation between the Christian factions. I love my evangelical brothers and sisters and yet I am thrilled to have grown my Christian family in the Catholic Church. I know that sounds simplistic. I have studied and reflected on dogmas and differences in belief structures and coming from Evangelicalism and well trained in Evangelical theology, I have embraced the Catholic Church, especially the Eucharist. But I still love my Jesus trusting, God believing, Bible believing evangelical brethren. Many still point people to Christ!
Check out a book "where we got the Bible; Our debt to the catholic church". It shows you that the Bible came from the Catholic Church. It's also full of apologetical tidbits that will help you to convert your evangelical friends (at least the few who will listen, lol)

The point I was trying to make is that many evangelicals are also Bible believing and believe in Jesus, the Trinity and probably most of what Catholics believe but are missing out on some great Catholic traditions and truths. I smiled when you say that it isn't advisable to have your feet in both camps as a young Catholic. I wish I was young. I do understand your concerns. However I do see people who simply believe and are baptized changed by the Holy Spirit as a result of evangelicals pointing them to Christ. I can't deny that. And I have many friends and family who I will be encouraging to understand what it means to be Roman Catholic. After many years of studying Theology, Scripture, History and the Church, I can't be regarded as young any more. Thanks again for your concern.
Catholics are extremely Jesus trusting, God believing and Bible believing too. We are just not very showy about it. We have mental prayers which is very personal.
Sounds like you are on a journey, Austin. Hope you are open to the Spirit. He may end up leading you where you *think* you don't want to go. The truth is that God is a jealous God and He wants your heart. He is not an "interest" nor a side hustle. We go forward or backward but we never stand still. The Spirit will lead you to the truth. God bless.
Pam ........ We are all on a journey and it is an interior journey and it is a matter of growth and a ever deepening awareness that Christ is with us always and indeed within us by the Holy Spirit . We should all be like Austin in that pursuit ! Top marks to him !
Austin..love your videos and have followed your spiritual and theological development...you love the Lord so much, its inspiring to see openness and the desire to hear the perspective of others who love the Lord...the first step in the union of religious believers......corporate union will follow...may the Lord continue to bless you...well done
You are blessed in that you are willing to experience the others and be open to the others. Catholics could learn from this and reach out to our protestant brothers and sisters too. Bridge the divide.
It is only in protestant faith groups/churches that I have heard negative comments from the pulpit of the pastors/church goers and from my former husband's family members. Although, I have done decades of ministry in hospital and prison ministry as an ex officer, - I was persecuted when I prayed the Gloriious Mystery and the Divine Mercy Chaplet over my dying husband and he was made to cry when he attended the Easter Vigil w me by his dtr. I went to their Easter service and have attended many Alliance/Baptist/Evangelical services It's disappointing that there is such a prejudice and lack of knowledge of the Apostolic church. God bless us All.
Doing what you’re doing - listening and learning, is so key to any Christian life. It is something that never ends but is so valuable. I am Catholic and I have protestant friends and we work on this together. God is so immense there is an impossibility that we will learn but we can always become better. God bless you in your faith journey
As a catholic I thought of you as a curious young man who wants to know directly from the experience and not from other sources. You had the opportunity to see, participate and ask. As a catholic I was raised not to be in war with other christians but my own person. The life as a monk gives you the opportunity to spend quality time with God, hours that you can’t have otherwise. Now you learn that you can replicate this experience in your life and have a even closer relation with God. Enjoy your journey and remember, Jesus was misunderstood by his own, so go where the Holy Spirit guides you. Blessings❤
It's so cool that you got to live out the rhythm and life of prayer at a monastery! Hearing you talk about your experience with the lay guys you met while staying with the monks reminded me of the Community of the Beatitudes in Denver, CO (Fr. Jaques Philippe's community). One of my favorite parts about staying with the Community is that they live out a "little Triduum" each week. If you have a chance, I highly recommend checking them out and maybe consider spending a weekend there! God bless you! And thank you for your videos! :)
I’m orthodox. I really have to say Protestants like you who are so open minded like this will make a better world a new Christendom ❤️ may the Lord give it purpose.
You are on the right track. Listen again or read the Litany of humility :). Jesus said that you will be attacked, and those attacks are not coming from holiness if you defend the dogma of the faith. I appreciate this video. When I am drawn to a channel that is Protestant, and I have a question about something, I might ask something respectfully, but I don't troll. But Catholic channels are bombarded by Protestant commenters that don't understands the faith but denigrate and lecture us, and continually accuse us of the same false stuff. Not at all a comment on all Protestants, by any means. This is a welcome respite. :)

Thank you Austin for your words and focus on Unity. I too feel my heart broken over the division in the body of Messiah. But I also totally agree that we can and should begin coming together as people who love Messiah and each other.

This is the best way to start your day, seriously. I arise at 04:15am everyday, contemplation and prayer seem much more "alive" at this hour. Its almost as if I have God to myself and perhaps I should add that prayer is a two-way thing, spend time listening and discerning what it is God is saying. My work daily work begins at 8am and I feel so awake and full of energy.
Thank you so much for explaining this to your protestant brothers and sisters! Also, for addressing the mental health issue today for a lot of young people they are so full of anxiety, and the answer is our Lord, and turning to him in prayer Saint Paul even tells us we should pray constantly it works!

No monks or nuns in the Bible. No cardinals either, and Jesus commands us not to call religious leaders master rabbi or father. Bishops are commanded in the Bible to be the husband of one wife with children. The Bible teaches that salvation is by Grace through faith and not of works.

For myself, I really want to go outside towards the woods behind my neighborhood at night and chant the Kyrie Eleison, but I'm afraid of coyotes and, honestly, people hearing me
I find your message indpiring! God bless you - ....and thanks!
God Bless! 🙏❤️
@@walterismydog7284 You got this!💯

Amen!
Because of pride and ego mostly. And this issue isn’t exclusively Protestant
Honestly, when i saw the title of this video in my feed, i thought "oh no, here we go, another protestant is going to speak how terrible the catholic church is ". I was sad about this being in my feed but when i did decided to click on your video, i went straight to the comments first know what i'm getting myself into before watching your video ... but when i saw the comments, i was shocked, you were being so kind a loving to our catholic church. I’m glad you decided to click, so that you could be encouraged by his content! I’m Protestant, but I truly respect and appreciate the Catholic faith. I’m very sorry you’ve experienced less gracious reactions. Stay strong. God bless.

My favorite monastery experience is at St. John’s abbey in Collegeville MN? Love retreating at the guesthouse
I loved this! You are an adventurous young man on an awesome spiritual journey.
The beliefs and church structure that are held in common by both Catholic and Orthodox churches REALLY require a massive explanation from Protestant apologists.
Love the video. Always wanted to see something like this and your bring a new viewpoint being Protestant. Thanks. Can’t wait for the next video
Amen!
The Catholic Mass actually contains tons of scripture.
Check out a book "where we got the Bible; Our debt to the catholic church". It shows you that the Bible came from the Catholic Church. It's also full of apologetical tidbits that will help you to convert your evangelical friends (at least the few who will listen, lol)
The Catholic church is a Bible believing church. Not sure what you mean. It's also not advisable to have your feet in both camps as a "young" Catholic
@@patriciajohnson1894 I clearly understand that the Catholic Church is a Bible Believing church.
I went to their Easter service and have attended many Alliance/Baptist/Evangelical services
It's disappointing that there is such a prejudice and lack of knowledge of the Apostolic church.

Doing what you’re doing - listening and learning, is so key to any Christian life. It is something that never ends but is so valuable. I am Catholic and I have protestant friends and we work on this together. God is so immense there is an impossibility that we will learn but we can always become better.
Thank you.
