Easily one of the greatest British songwriting singers of all time. Yeah Bowie was edgy, pioneering etc… and Lennon & McCartney wrote many classics and helped change the world briefly, but Elton and Bernie are up there too on that level for the beautiful music and heartfelt lyrics they did time and time again. Glastonbury was proof that I ain’t alone in my thinking. He really is a living legend. Dreading the day we’ll eventually lose him.

Bruce's big tv vehicle after he quit the generation game and the beeb for itv. Negative press coverage literally killed this show (it ran for about 3 hours on a saturday night) and it only ran for a couple of months before being pulled. It had its moments tho - including this appearance by elton and memorable appearances and interviews with sammy davis jnr, bette midler and karen carpenter.
Ah the 1970’s at the BBC - that back door joke would have been edited out had it been broadcast these days - pre watershed etc. Despite (supposedly) more recognition of diversity these days and quite right so, I can just imagine the look on Ant and Dec’s faces (sorry Brucie but they’re the nearest equivalent we’ve got in the UK) if the same thing happened now.
