The same thing happened here in the U.S. The Thatcher/Reagan era did a ton of damage to not just education, but also economically. In the long run that economic downturn combined with the destruction of our education systems has lead us all down this path toward fascism. Honestly I don't know the specifics of how this all played out across the pond, but the parallels are too close to deny. In particular the lack of linguistic literacy in both countries.

Great that he still remembers where he comes from and appreciates his mentors and shows his appreciation. Grateful for his musical background and talent. So glad his mother and grandmother saw his talents and encouraged him. Love that he is helping the youngsters to be creative and learn. Such a wonderful outlet. It is so sad that most schools are removing music from curriculums, especially for the families that cannot afford private lessons. I am sorry for the hard times he went through, but I am glad he is a fighter and learned from his past.It is impressive how he is still carrying on with his wonderful talents and helping others to achieve their talents. Much respect for Sir Elton John and so excited to see if his kiddos have a fraction of his talents.

I love the fact that he seemed embarrassed to mention presenting a show- like they wouldn’t jump at the chance!

Elton John sang Candle in the Wind at the funeral of Princess Diana. That’s the one and only time he ever sang that song in public.

I never heard Elton John playing classical music, never saw that in a video either. Has anyone ever heard him performing classical music? If yes where??
