      @vijil Not only is it surely gonna be filled to the brim with microtransactions, but also if Activision/Blizzard can get away with this kind of shit, we're not gonna get another Starcraft / Diablo title worth playing. Hell, we're not gonna have a proper fucking game in the future altogether. People need to stand up for what they want.

      Serral is but one player, even if he is undoubtedly the best now. The scene is still dominated by Koreans. Serral can be an inspiration and its time the other foreigners need to step up to the game. Or else it can quickly go back to before if Serral under performs.

    • @testthewest123
      @testthewest123 5 років тому +34

      @The future is Unity We all know that. But Serral proves, that it is possible for foreigners, that's all. He commands respect, even from the Koreans. And even if he vanishes into nothingness, he will always be that example that it can be done.

    • @skychaos87
      @skychaos87 5 років тому +3

      @@testthewest123 Indeed, he is an example. People need to be inspired not satisfied. It would be the best if more and more foreigners, not just europeans that will step up to the game. I'm sure the SC2 scene will be even more exciting.

    • @testthewest123
      @testthewest123 5 років тому +3

      @The future is Unity The general "problem" is that in rich countries, the loss of not doing the "standard life build" is considerable. Not pursuing studies, just to be a low paid progamer isn't enticing.
      That's also why you see many Pros from countries like Ukraine, where alternatives do not pay that well.Korea isn't that poor as well, I concede, but they have the luck of a different start to internet culture with their internet caffees (not sure how they are called exactly). Without this start, with internet and computers widely available, I doubt Korea would have developed this.

      I played SC back in 2010 until Hots came out and stopped from there. But what im seeing here is insane on so many levels.
      To get there where Serral is, i would say, is not really possible. Ive never seen a player that has no weak faces in the game and on top of it such a good map control. This is just an exceptional player.

      when it comes to skill based e-sport games, sc2 is the best if not the only game that trully stands for skill based game. Problem is that is really hard to master and u got no one else to blame when u lose other than urself plus its a game from Blizzard a company that knows how to make great games but lacks an e-sport department that can develop,grow and promote her games in that area.

    Honestly, Stats and Rogue were both really impressive, but Serral is...Serral. And he showed not just Korea, but the entire world how to play Starcraft 2. I've never seen such a wide skill gap at the very top of Starcraft 2 as I see with Serral and all other top pros. Still would have liked to see Maru vs. Serral but I don't think that would have changed the final outcome.
    For example, how quick he pulls drones vs oracles, how quickly he reacts to something he scouts such as building a wall, canceling the 3rd hatch, starting banelings against Rogue and makes a really scary attack look easy to hold etc., or how he targets his queen and spore so when oracles go in, they die. He pays so much attention to the detail, like when Stats goes in with Oracle to kill drones, he insta pulls and even starts a spore in a split second to save a drone. Finally, in the last game which is a LONG game, near the end AVERAGE 450+ APM. I mean...just...WHO DOES THAT!? Name me one pro SC2 player with 450+ APM for a 30 minute game. Serral truly is on another level, its almost inhuman how perfect his play is. Micro, macro, decision making, game understanding, scouting, reaction time, offense, defense, everything is at least as good if not better than anyone else in the world.
    There are still gonna be the critics that say he didn't win a GSL or he didn't beat Maru. You can't convince everyone, but honestly if you watch Serral play there is no doubt in my mind and a good majority of Starcraft 2 fans that Serral is right now the undisputed best player in the world. What a player.
    He'll have to prove it over time to be the greatest ever, but right now he is the greatest I have seen at a specific point in time.

    • @AdmiralBison
      @AdmiralBison 5 років тому +11

      Ken Serral did win a GSL championship this year, beating Stats (who is one of the only Protoss who has beaten Maru)
      Stats is no slouch as he has the experience and has reached many grand finals.
      Rogue was considered the best Zerg player in the world with championships to back it up...but damn, those who continuously doubt Serral’s mechanical skills, ability to read and the clear beat down of 3-1 Rogue, 3-0 Dark, 3-0 Zest, 3-0 are either in denial or do not actually watch Serral’s
      Matches this year.
      Serral is not unbeatable and did lose to Scarlett at the Pyongchang championships (Scarlett is very experience and did win that tournament which I think she well deserved), but it is clear Serral did say he trained extremely hard last year and it has shown this year.
      Serral has been on the backfoot many times, but a sign of a great champion is to claw their way back inch, by inch and keep the level of focus and skill fairly high even throughout 25+ minute game.
      A good example was Serral vs Raynor (who I believe has great potential, but at the moment is not as disciplined as Serral) in the WCS Montreal 2018 where Serral was behind in both Economy and Army and could have been wiped out by Raynor’s larger army, but Serral knew how to position well, take the proper engagements, and jumped 100% on a killing blow.
      It’s been said Serral plays too stock standard, but he did risk the very last match against Raynor with the Nydus worm play brining all his queens, roaches, a few drones while leaving his bases relatively undefended.
      Serral risked it again in GSL vs the world 2018 against Stats where he lost quite a few drones and everyone thought this looked bad, while on the side he was actually rallying all his Roaches, and queens to takeout Stat’s third base and cut off re-enforcements to it by getting in between the natural and the third base.

    • @AdmiralBison
      @AdmiralBison 5 років тому +1

      Ryan M yeah, that was shocking, but it does make sense in some way.
      Cheese can be effective and Maru has the skills to follow it up or recover if it fails, and I noticed Maru definitely uses a lot of proxys , but it’s like Maru almost has to rely on it, however it has only given some pro players opportunities to study this and shut it down in the case of SoS.
      There is probably only one other player I can think of who relies a lot on cheese and is able to fight in unconventional ways due to the result and that is Has, but just like Has, once you are able to fix up early cheeses, there is often a good chance they are done for.

    • @Dontlook36
      @Dontlook36 5 років тому +2

      Never seen this much of a skill gap? Can you say Life vs Lilbow? Zest vs Neeb last year? Maru vs literally any foreign weakling (including serral) in anything longer than a bo1 in an offline stage? Look at WESG maru vs serral. THAT'S a rape and huge skill gap.

    • @Dontlook36
      @Dontlook36 5 років тому +1

      @Ryan M bitch WESG was this year.

    • @henrytep8884
      @henrytep8884 5 років тому

      @Ryan M SoS is his training partner, but Maru doesn't just cheese, that's a silly analysis especially if you watch his GSL run. He use a cheese opening as standard opening to mid-late game. If you think of it in terms of throwing jabs at the other player to lower their defense or make em tired through a 7 game set, then that is an awesome strategy as he probably has more micro stamina then his opponents due to Maru having great micro skill.

    I've been playing Starcraft since Brood War. I grew up watching pros and legends all the way from the first generation with Boxer, Yellow, and nal_Ra. Needless to say, it takes a lot to impress a veteran.
    And I gotta say, it's almost scary how clean and machine-like Serral plays.. Like a damn psychopath in the best way lolol. Serral is definitely on his way of becoming a legend if he isn't already.

      In Lotv serral vs life ? In my opinion ofc only Serral. Life was one of 2 best hots players (with sOs) and for me best zergling timing attacker, but serral never loosing games againt rush or fast attacks. I know life was diffrent and he always find way to destroy diffense but serral early/mid / late is perfect. Serral is not showman, he is perfect machine. Life was out of control one day he can win vs anybody next day loosing vs even ForGG. Life - best player to watch, Serral best zerg overall player. Just my opinion.

    for me this is not a victory for the zergs players, it is a victory only of Serral, because Serral's skills are superhuman, Serral's intuition in each game is almost impossible to believe, even making a good scout in the enemy base , even maneuvering your army well, amazing job Serral

    This game is interesting after watching the mini-doc on Serral - the only player he’s ever regularly lost to.. is his older brother, who taught him the game and played with him all through high school. His brother who always wondered what would have happened if HE had gone pro. But loves and supports his family always.

    When Serral retires from StarCraft Esports to study at University, he can casually make some sweet change $$ teaching people how to play StarCraft (not like he needs the money after the prize earning he made from 6 x championships just this year alone).
    Hell, I’d pay money to go to a StarCraft class being taught by Serral.
    😃

    • @AdmiralBison
      @AdmiralBison 5 років тому

      Sim Salabim he didn’t say explicitly he will retire and when from StarCraft anytime soon, in fact in the ‘signature’ series videos he said he would like to take it as far as he can go and enter many tournaments, but eventually he his future after that will be his studies at Uni.
      Serral I think can definitely do at least 3 more years in good form, and make huge bank.
      Besides, I am confident some Starcraft up-starters seriously wanting to go pro, would pay to be tutored, coached and challenged at the very feet of Serral during his Uni days afterwards.
