i definitely agree too.. same as the volume rocker button when it was at the bottom if u were on a call ur thump could increase or decrease call volume without shifting your hand was excellent.. two handed was a different story.. people complained and they changed it.. i thought the fringer print reader on the side was brilliant but people complained now it's at the back.. still more complaining..
Nah bro. When you pick the phone up thats the time when people normally unlock the phone. So having the sensor so low doesn't make sense since your index finger would not land so low when you pick up a phone. Plus maybe its just me but when i type on my phone single handedly my index finger does not rest on the middle of the phone.(using a v20)
It's just something for individuals to nitpick on, as if the human brain can't get used to change...a slight change at that, with a lower scanner. But I get it...if enough people complain about the scanner being too low, Sony may pull a Samsung and move it.

But my girlfriend went from Samsung galaxy s5 to Sony xa ultra with 6"lcd screen and trust me my xz premium doesn't beat that screen. Side to side 6" screen on xz ultra feels like you touching screen on the sides.... And video watching experience is also wow.... Very big and nice screen.
I can give you several reasons. On the xz premium they disabled the fingerprint sensor for the U.S. model. Second, after I rooted my xz premium, the camera was disabled with nothing but a green screen showing in pics. If you unlock the bootloader, they disable your camera. What kind of screwed-up control freaks does this? It's reasons like this that people scream & run from Sony.
But you are in the minority my friend. Sony has had to change its design or risk losing sales to the point of closing its mobile division. You may like the classic Sony design, but the general mainstream will prefer the XZ3 style because that is where the design trends have gone.
I have Sony XZ Premium and also LG V30+. In my humble opinion, listening music using bluetooth from XZ Premium as good as or even better than using 3 mm jack in V30+. It's louder, stronger in bass but not loss the detail and clarity. I use MDR-XB50BS for XZ Premium n B&O H3 for V30+ for the comparison. Maybe in term of clarity V30+ slightly better. But if using WH-H800 than XZ Premium is better. LDAC Sony is really shine

I commend sony for almost always putting front-firing stereo speakers. I don't understand why other companies don't do this. But i don't like the curved edge display though. I hate the reflections that get on the sides of the display.
xRROD the front speaker is really good, not loud but sound better than any phone... Here I use z5c think the sound better than iphone 7 (which the only phone I can compare on my place)
I've been using Sony phones since the Z1 Premium came out and they are hands down the best phones out there and the amount of times i have dropped them and not even a crack, currently using a XZ1 Premium and will be definitely upgrading to this new phone when the premium version comes out.
It's amazing how Sony Xperia has been making the best SMARTPHONES in the last few years !!! Even in numbers, Xperias may seem smaller by having only one camera and less Mega Pixel but the superiodade of the image that is real rather than images washed by post processing! The colors, contrasts, sharpness, brilliance, quality and details of the Xperia images surpass with a large scale the competitors! Congratulations Sony Xperia!

Its obvious that you wont get color accuracy with the Triluminos and SuperVivid profile. Do you get color accuracy with Adaptive profile on the S9+? NO!. If you want color accuracy use the professional mode and remember that in Xperia phone the White Balance is independent, so choose Warm and sRGB mode.
I know having deep blacks feels premium but that's the color we see the less when using the phone, The Galaxy and their Amoled displays used to have sexy blacks but yellowish tint on whites, now this Xperia is rocking a OLED display that's amazing.

For us, feels strange. But from a business perspective, they're gaining a lot more from supplying than using those on their phones. Probably that's why the Xperia is still alive, and iPhone and other cellphones helped Sony recover from their previous financial crisis, along with Playstation of course.
IPhone don't have 4K display. Retina display is a dated technology, I don't know why still have pay attention in the ads. IPhone don't have Motions-eye sensor for Perdictive Capture. The fastest way capture images before press the shutter button. I know iPhone have it limitations. Overall Sony is innovative than iPhone

Ok for us regular dudes who have to wait until the 5th of October to look and feel the phone in question. I was at Carphone Warehouse in Leeds and I am friends with the Sony Ambassador there. I actually HAD A DEMO of the phone and had a quick play with it-in person, as the ambassadors always get it before anyone else. WOW WOWOW is all I can say, the phone is beautiful, the bezels are THIN and that is an understatement, it feels fast and that RED colour scheme ooooooooooooh my gods! The side sense that most reviewers are saying is a hit and miss affair is NOT the case at all. It worked every time with me as the key is to tap the side of the glass and not the metal body. The colours are punchy at default however I advised the rep to put it to professional mode which is the most realistic and the phone display was even better. She showed a 4K HDR DEMO on her phone and i did the same one on MY 4K HDR xz premium. I will say this, her's looked MUCH better! The awkward placement of the fingerprint scanner can be learned within a few mins. Let me return to the looks- It is as sexy as hell and any video you see on the net DOES NOT do this phone justice-when you see it in person, as it is BETTER looking than the Samsung s9 and the s9+ and I WOULD say the screen is BETTER (cannot compare to note 9 as they did not have that) Camera app is quick as a flash (pardon the pun) and the phone was faster than an 'Ice-skating Mongoose being chased by a frisky lion on the plains of the Serengeti! The shape of the phone was so damn sexy that if one compared it to the shape of a woman then it would be like DARLENE Ortiz in her hay-day that is from ICE-T's POWER album! Dark, powerful, sexy and full of class..what a phone and I was instantly smitten! My love and passion for Sony Mobile has been rekindled... BUY BUY BUY! Lastly on a personal note, I can see why Samsung fans troll reviews of this phone, as it is actually has a MUCH better screen than the S9+
Hold the phone lower/base like you typing so the fingerprint is matching well. Don't grab the middle it have palm rejection risk for flat glass like iPhone X Huawei P20 Pro because your little finger doesn't stopped at the base/the bottom of the phone.

The typing position is not how we normally handle phones with 1 hand (except for when typing, obviously) because the top will be heavier. When taking phone out of pocket, for example, we tend to place the hand higher to hold 2/3 of the phone body, and your finger will land naturally on the camera module. I've tried the XZ2, and I have to make the conscious moving of my finger down to touch the sensor.
There is definitely no problem with the fp placement (rocking xz2). I don't get why people complain, yet they have never even seen the phone let alone use the fp scanner.
Actually I prefer AI side sense, it is more practical and easy to use. On the other hand the pie gesture force user to remember each command and gesture lack of user friendly.

Was trying to use a Oneplus One as long as possible, and last week it finally died. Decided to get a new phone again after all these years, and not regretting it. This phone is a pleasant surprise! I do agree with some of the gripes, somewhat, the fingerprint scanner is not too badly placed, but in the beginning I did touch the camera lens by accident. I registered my index-, middle fingers and thumbs so I can use which ever is closest to it. I think Sony did really well on this one.
Lol, samsung has been providing oled for years. Sony still lacks ois and its pathetic software processing makes it one of the worst phones for still photography. Video is a different story for sony. Sony has lots of works to do to come even closer to samsung or apple or pixel ( yeah sony provides them sensors but algorithm is a major part in mobile photography ) , unfortunately cheap xiaomi phones takes as good as if not better pics then sony.

The dual camera setup is not on this phone simply because of the Compact variant. If they put this dual camera setup on the normal XZ, then they'll have to put the same thing in the Compact and this setup takes a lot of place. The thing is, they might be developping a new sensor or an improved variant of the IMX400, because this is the only way they can go if they want to keep the Compact version. And the Premium keeps the "low light" advantage! So, this XZ3 is among the best flagships available right now, apart from the headphone jack, it has evrything and even more, I really want to get it to replace my XZ Premium, but it's still going strong and I'm pretty sure Sony has still some incredible things to unveil in this near future.

sony provided LDAC authorization to Google so any android running 8.0+ should have it too. Try in dev setting and change it to LDAC

Ok for us regular dudes who have to wait until the 5th of October to look and feel the phone in question. I was at Carphone Warehouse in Leeds and I am friends with the Sony Ambassador there. I actually HAD A DEMO of the phone and had a quick play with it-in person, as the ambassadors always get it before anyone else. WOW WOWOW is all I can say, the phone is beautiful, the bezels are THIN and that is an understatement, it feels fast and that RED colour scheme ooooooooooooh my gods! The side sense that most reviewers are saying is a hit and miss affair is NOT the case at all. It worked every time with me as the key is to tap the side of the glass and not the metal body. The colours are punchy at default however I advised the rep to put it to professional mode which is the most realistic and the phone display was even better. She showed a 4K HDR DEMO on her phone and i did the same one on MY 4K HDR xz premium. I will say this, her's looked MUCH better! The awkward placement of the fingerprint scanner can be learned within a few mins. Let me return to the looks- It is as sexy as hell and any video you see on the net DOES NOT do this phone justice-when you see it in person, as it is BETTER looking than the Samsung s9 and the s9+ and I WOULD say the screen is BETTER (cannot compare to note 9 as they did not have that) Camera app is quick as a flash (pardon the pun) and the phone was faster than an 'Ice-skating Mongoose being chased by a frisky lion on the plains of the Serengeti! The shape of the phone was so damn sexy that if one compared it to the shape of a woman then it would be like DARLENE Ortiz in her hay-day that is from ICE-T's POWER album! Dark, powerful, sexy and full of class..what a phone and I was instantly smitten! My love and passion for Sony Mobile has been rekindled... BUY BUY BUY! Lastly on a personal note, I can see why Samsung fans troll reviews of this phone, as it is actually has a MUCH better screen than the S9+

Good looking phone. but they seriously need to sort out that finger print scanner placement.
Hold the phone lower/base like you typing so the fingerprint is matching well. Don't grab the middle it have palm rejection risk for flat glass like iPhone X Huawei P20 Pro because your little finger doesn't stopped at the base/the bottom of the phone.
seriously!? why everybody complain about the placement of the fingerprint scanner. NOW try to type something on your phone single handedly, and look where your index finger are. It makes your little finger support the bottom of your phone. this fps placement is the most ergonomic if you really think about it wisely

The typing position is not how we normally handle phones with 1 hand (except for when typing, obviously) because the top will be heavier. When taking phone out of pocket, for example, we tend to place the hand higher to hold 2/3 of the phone body, and your finger will land naturally on the camera module. I've tried the XZ2, and I have to make the conscious moving of my finger down to touch the sensor.
There is definitely no problem with the fp placement (rocking xz2). I don't get why people complain, yet they have never even seen the phone let alone use the fp scanner.

Interesting, so it doesn't have the horizontal app switcher or pie gestures?
Actually I prefer AI side sense, it is more practical and easy to use. On the other hand the pie gesture force user to remember each command and gesture lack of user friendly.

That caught my attention more than the phone
Was trying to use a Oneplus One as long as possible, and last week it finally died. Decided to get a new phone again after all these years, and not regretting it. This phone is a pleasant surprise! I do agree with some of the gripes, somewhat, the fingerprint scanner is not too badly placed, but in the beginning I did touch the camera lens by accident. I registered my index-, middle fingers and thumbs so I can use which ever is closest to it. I think Sony did really well on this one.

Lol, samsung has been providing oled for years. Sony still lacks ois and its pathetic software processing makes it one of the worst phones for still photography. Video is a different story for sony. Sony has lots of works to do to come even closer to samsung or apple or pixel ( yeah sony provides them sensors but algorithm is a major part in mobile photography ) , unfortunately cheap xiaomi phones takes as good as if not better pics then sony.

The dual camera setup is not on this phone simply because of the Compact variant. If they put this dual camera setup on the normal XZ, then they'll have to put the same thing in the Compact and this setup takes a lot of place.
The thing is, they might be developping a new sensor or an improved variant of the IMX400, because this is the only way they can go if they want to keep the Compact version.
And the Premium keeps the "low light" advantage!
So, this XZ3 is among the best flagships available right now, apart from the headphone jack, it has evrything and even more, I really want to get it to replace my XZ Premium, but it's still going strong and I'm pretty sure Sony has still some incredible things to unveil in this near future.

@@arcchannel6912 Dude sony had like tft washef out colors and you tell me that suddenly have the best display? (With 440 nits for example, when note9 go over 1000 nits in brightness) I beg to differ. And with that bezels in 2018 I would be ashamed. There are reasons sony has fallen a lot. Also 9.9 mm thickness....just lol
