what is this x-men you talk about? sounds like a function. kidding aside i do love x-men alot of 90's kid were introduced to comics through x-men. and it's funny that now they are doing as story like schism. back in my playground days either you side with scott or logan. and most of the time i love logan more than scott but in schism story line i side with scott, they were hunted down to all most extinction pushed outside their homes did the avengers helped? did the inhumans helped? did the shield help? no. either you fight back on your own or continue charles failing dream.
I just loved the idea of Wolverine running a school for mutants- like Proffessor X. The worst student carries on the legacy, the best student betrays it. It's kind of poetic, and has a lot of layers of fall and redemption to it. Plus the whole thing is helped by excellent writing by Jason Aaron on the Wolverine and the X-men title, which is still one of my favourites...
With the amount of times humanity's secretly had a "kill all mutants" button and used it can anyone seriously say magneto is wrong, what's this the 100th genocide attempt?
Captain Marvelous Magneto was right, Cyclops was just righter, Xavier is an old man living in his own crazy little world while his people are being wiped out....sometimes by his own action.
he was, it's time to fight back! where were the avengers when mutant-kind were hunted down like dogs? where were the shield when governments rounded mutants up to be killed off? fuck them all #magnetodidnothingwrong.
I definitely want Rob to cover older X-Men stories (maybe start with Morrison's New X-Men?) I'm trying to get into X-Men and would love Rob to help me along
For people who want to get into contemporary X Men stories Morrison's run is a good starting point. If you really like Cyclops though, Whedon's Astonishing X Men run is also really good. To me, my X Men!
You do know Cyclops doesn't need to melt the adamantium. He could generate enough force to break it. He blew wolverines hand clean off in Age of Apocalypseso I wouldn't say he's fighting a losing battle. He definitely has the means to put Wolverine down
Always felt like this was the equivalent to the Batman/Superman fight or sometimes rivalry. It feels out of place a lot and makes one person look like a fool. Unfortunately, to me anyway, it was definitely Wolverine. His actions held some ground until he decided to blow up an island and go off on Cyclops. Scott and Logan are friends. They drink, fight, grieve, and sometimes lose together. I don't understand why THAT's so hard to understand. Sigh, editors.
Yaaasssss!!! You should do more X-Men Rob! This was an epic story, & the whole reason for the rift between Cyclops & Wolverine, which led to the fracturing of the X-Men into two factions, with two diverging philosophies. Awesome!
Messiah Complex is one of the best written stories of all time, period. Not talking about just comic books. Rob, you should really do a Hope Summers' story, all the way from her birth up to the prelude to schism. This was good, but it just glossed over the best story.
The best thing about this is that neither was wrong, you can see both sides to the argument, and that is what made it such a great conflict. Personally I side with Cyclops, this is what he's grown up doing, for Wolverine to see it that he's never been in a true conflict is wrong, Cyclops has been through this his entire life, he has to train them and prepare them incase anything ever happens, he's thinking ahead. Wolverine may have their best interests at heart though, let kids be kids, he wants them to have a chance at normality, but let's face it, that can't happen. Neither of them are wrong, but neither are right.
Ain't that the truth ever since these kids got there mutant powers they've been targeted by giant killer robots and mutant hating assassin's. They lost the right to be normal kids a long time ago, they now need to be soldiers to survive.
Cyclops is right and that's just the sad truth of their reality. Wolverine was being short sighted, especially since he didn't stop to think that Charles did the same thing with the first class.
They could throw pure magnesium dust at Namor then set him a light . After he's incapacitated bind him in carbonadium rings laced with pure magnesium. Then keep him in a container and set the inside a light. Fire a gun that encases Emma frosts head with the same metal magnetos helmet is made of then just tase her while she's confused. If she goes into her diamond form stab her in the thigh with an anti-metal knife the shock will force her out of her diamond form then tase her again. Simply magnetise Colossus nearly pulling him apart then electrocute him forcing him to revert back to his human form. If not you could freeze him to -75°C then break his arms and legs of his body like glass. Or stab him with an anti-metal blade laced with General Anaesthesia. Snipe him with a plastic bullet laced with General Anaesthesia, with a plastic gun. I just realised I'm quite good at thinking about how to take out superheroes.
Toluwalase 104 Yeah, sounds easy in theory, but not when comes to reality. When half of this is been putting to work, Magneto or Emma could simply take'em down. Besides that, Magneto doesn't control only metal, he can control the full magnetic soectrum, wich basically means that he can manipulate any polar substance (like water) and etc. There's simply no way that they would be able to do that and lost to an teenager, it's just plot, i guess
I know some of the X Men comics haven't all been stellar the last 10ish years but I've really enjoyed Scott's character arc during that time period. He's exemplified what a leader should be; someone who makes the hard choices that may make him unpopular but ultimately helps his people. #CyclopsWasRight
I agree. Not because I think he's better, but because the main streams seem to be way more in love with Wolverine and give him a lot of coverage. I mean, he cool and all, but I feel like Wolverine's been done to death.
The X-Men were always my favorite growing up. I stopped reading regularly in the late 90s/early 2000s so it's really awesome to find out what they've been up to since.
Wolverine is a traitor and a hypocrite he judges Cyclops for putting childrens lives endanger by turning them into soldier. When Xavier was doing the same damn thing and Wolverine also killed a kid and he was willing to kill Hope Summers. All Cyclops was trying to do was save his race from Extinction by using the Phoenix to bring back mutants. And instead of helping him Wolverine sides with the Avengers and the Scarlett Witch( the woman who caused the extinction of mutants in the first place) to stop him.
it just hit me that Captain America has never cared or acknowledge Mutants and Mutant Rights, until AvX but through the history of captain america and the MC universe he really didnt do much for mutants, when the Mutant registration act happen, where was he too fight for the freedom for mutants??? but he sure helped his fellow super humans and citizens and fought for their rights when the Super Human Registration Act came. hoolllyy shit man. this some unspoken symbolism of how we deal with race and having rights here in america.

Wolverine had a difficult childhood, and his life as an adult was not easy either, he fought in several conflicts throughout history, not because he liked it, he did it following a cause but in the end many people deceived him, used him, manipulated him. You can't judge him for having the life he had, he had no choice, he is a victim of his circumstances, Charles was like a guide for him, a mentor, Charles may have created the X-men, but he was never inclined to use force, he preferred to use peaceful methods and give his students the possibility of having a normal life, either to integrate into human society or to be a teacher at his school. The X-men were only a select group of combatants for extreme situations. It was never their intention to create an army of mutants, most of them learned to use their abilities to not harm others or themselves, and a very few became part of the X-men. X men have always been an army. They train they fight that's what the original 5 did so I don't know why they wanted to change that narrative
They're more terrorists than an army. They don't have the backing of a legitimate state government, don't abide be treaties related to war, and so on.

Emma frost might as well not wear anything at this point... xD
Charles had the X-men kids act as child soldiers since its inception but Logan didn’t have an issue then.
Logan's real beef is that Cyclops isn't the boy scout he wants him to be. I always got the feeling Logan felt threatened by Cyclops growing militants.
hey Rob can you cover messiah war and messiah complex? I can not find any on one UA-cam that has done that arc.
Wolverine: you cant teach teenagers to be soldiers!
Cyclops: you mean like Xavier did?
