Facts cyclops was right. The whole reason they did death of x was because since marvel didn't own the movie rights at the time they wanted to kill the x-men franchise and replace them with the inhumans but then they realize people stop buying marvel comic books when they did that
I love how Cyclops and Wolverine became the new Magneto and Xavier... former friends who have the same goals but can no longer see eye to eye after one of them was radicalized.
The ironic thing is at the beginning Cyclops was more on Xavier's side, and Wolverine was slightly more on Magneto's. Cyclops believed a lot in mutants playing by society's rules, being quite military like in character, while Wolverine believed mutants shouldn't be held by norms and constraints. However, after house of m, Cyclops had to be a leader and protect his people no matter what, while Wolverine, having been a weapon, didn't want mutants to become a militarised fighting force under any circumstance. Therefore they grew apart in schism.
Funny thing is, we still to this day, don't fully understand Cyclops' powers. The fact that they come from another dimension has always made me wonder...
I always just use what comic Drake said and what young cyclops from champions said. It's a beam from another dimension that he uses thanks to his eye portals, they don't create heat but they use Force like a punch.
I hope they treat him the way they did Steve Rogers. They're pretty much the same. Except Scott Summers is a mack daddy. Psychic women love him. Jean, Psylocke, Emma, am I missing anyone? lol

Two of my favorite Cyclops moments. 1. Right after the twelve and after Cyclops was separated from Apocalypse, Wolverine and Cyclops went on a stealth mission to Genosha. Wolverine asked Cyke if he was doing ok while they were in the sewers he seemed a little tense. Cyke said he was fine. Then Wolvy called out two guys around the corner. Cyke ricocheted his beams off 3 walls and took out both dudes with one shot. Come to find out they were both heavy hitters, Blob and Random. Wolvy was like suuure you seem fine to me.
2. During civil war Iceman, Angel, Beast and Scott broke out of the mansion that was being guarded by sentinels for their "protection". They went to go save a bunch of mutants that didnt register and were inside an adamantium prison. It was like a 5 foot thick adamantium bay door. Cyke opened up his visor like never before a 40 ft wide beem shot from his eyes. Beast begged him to stop the entire time in fear he would kill himself but he kept pushing. He pumched a home in the door. After he made it through he directed his eyes to the sky...he couldnt turn it off. His optic blast just kept going and even getting bigger. There was nothing any of the X-Men could do Scott was already unconscious. Then luckily he heard a voice. Its ok Mr.Summers you saved us you can rest now. It was one of the mutants he saved a little morlock boy named leech. Leeches mutatiin turned his skin green and allow him to turn off other mutants abilities.

Only in the world of comics can you use the sentence, "Cyclops was dead, and remained dead for quite some time." and everyone understands what you mean.
Love the character explained! It’s like a living encyclopedia. So much deeper than most due to the inclusion of what’s simultaneously going on with the company, editors, writers, etc. On Cyclops, I’ve always seen him as Captain America for Mutants. Instead of a shield he had his accurate eye beams and he was just as strategic. I really dig the harder core direction...because it was about time. To me, Cyclops is the successor of both Magneto and Prof. It was just a matter of direction. Interesting enough, with both those leaders being somewhat renditions of MLK and Malcolm X, the very real question for the post civil rights era was, who are the successors? And what has mainly come about were a lot of commercialized freedom fighters seeking personal glory, a loss of direction, and so much more... not to get political, the point was that for me, Cyclops just adds a dimension to that answer in comic form... and I enjoy him as the answer so much better.
Was a pleasure to read your comment my good brother. I see Cyclops as being way more than Cap America. The main reason being what he was designed for and because of, the answer to both is us....black people. Stan Lee said he created the X-men based off of his observations of how white society were treating (and still do) black society during the civil-rights era, due to us having a gene they don't have and our identity. But said he doesn't like to talk about it as the white psyche is fragile (which to me means unstable), and could've caused him a loss. Remember a particular group of people psychologically, emotionally and verbally attack using the word "ni99a" (9=g) like the non-mutants use "mutie!" against the amazing people we are fascinated by (like in real life......they know this too, otherwise cultural appropriation wouldn't be a key feature in their social structure and operation of oppression and racial operation. Scott Summers....this is a man who can absorb and even thrives on sunlight, now think about Stan Lee studying black people, Stan Lee must know about melanin, he gave us a whole franchise based upon his view of social science and a population of a mostly empty, hollow, docile, narcissistic gene-recessive population abusing a race with a mysterious gene. White people are more suited for the cold and have greater difficulty processing and thriving on sunlight. This is a result from a quick Google search but there are plenty videos on youtube and books, lectures, seminars or speeches I could direct you to, brother: What percentage of Africans get skin cancer? Image result for skin cancer in africa Black people are far less likely to develop melanoma than non-Hispanic White people (at a rate of 1 per 100,000 compared to 30 per 100,000) due to the protection that melanin, the body's natural skin pigment, provides from damaging ultraviolet rays.Jul 21, 2022 Another thing is, we know him being depicted as white was for the narcissism and fragility of white society (we would need to assess and discuss matters of psychology and psychiatry for me to elaborate upon this), so in essence he represents a black person. All the mutants are a collective representation of black society in regards to power dynamics (manufactured vs natural power), the weaker group using their minds for malevolence and to oppress mutants who don't believe in themselves and lack guidance and are traumatised by non-mutants' activities against them, most mutants are lost, hiding, trying to blend in and dominated by non-mutants.....white society often react to the damage to their ego by exercising (guess what traits?) narcissism, delusion and denial, even dismissing Stan Lee's own reason for creating X-men, alongside him being an activist and social commentor/critic. They have often strongly said Stan Lee based the X-men on the Jews using their own minds to concoct something to massage their egos as a race of people with a mutual identity and image. Or they say the mutants were based on the struggles on homosexuals.....Brother, like you said, Xavier and Magneto were based upon Great MLK and magnificent Malcolm X, NOT any rabbi or gay community, those things are NOT genetic and not what Stan Lee said as to why and how he made X-men. Cyclops to me is the best but I appreciate them all. I like Cyclops because he is a great leader, has so much discipline and control, has compassion and empathy, is honest, is strategic and intelligent, good dress sense and on Marvel Vs Capcom two...YOU CAN NOT TELL ME Cyclops wasn't one of the best fighting game character to ever be presented. He was great in X-men TAS episodes and his attacks against Mr.Sinister are admirable. I even like his telepathic connection with Jean-Grey. Any way my good brother, you seem very insightful and mentioned successors of MLK and Malcolm X, I would like to discuss things further with you if possible?

The title didn't officially change from "The X-Men" to "Uncanny X-Men" until issue #141 (Days of Future Past); when the new team started, the title banner read "All-New, All-Different X-Men" from issues #94-#113, and "Uncanny" replaced that in the banner with #114 onwards.
Say what you want. Seeing Cyclops and Wolverine slowly become the next Magneto and Xavier, respectively (although being over a girl and not ideologies) was the best Cyclops has ever been.
Huh... I guess that's why Magneto's my #1 and Cyclops is my #2 faves.. Great observation! Though, I feel Scott still held certain values that Eric didn't.
Cyke is a telepath babe magnet. He did the nasty with the hottest telepaths in Marvel history on the freakin Astral plane. Even Psylocke flirted with this stud. Even Agent Maria Hill was attracted to him while trying to arrest him. Say what you want about the guy. But Cyclops Was Always Right! Cyclops willingly risks his life knowing he doesn't have any healing power, that if he dies, he dies so mutants can live, both the good and bad. If he trains under Batman, Cyclops would be a complete fighter, they'd be a perfect crossover match up. Both are quiet introverts and a hell of a serious and tactical leaders.
This is one of my favorite vids by you. Your knowledge of the Publication History and how that has affected the characters over the years is probably your greatest strength.
Cyclops has been my favorite x-men character since I was 6 when I saw the first movie and when I read my first x-men comic. He is a great example of a leader.
Cyclops has always been Marvel's punching bag...and thanks to Fox shitting on him for the sake of Wolverine (a character that I learned to hate because of its fanboys...)in the movies and Marvel itself outright doing their best to screw with him during AvsX, a LOT of people not only don't understand him but outright despise him... it's their loss. He is the best Xman. The very soul of the team.
I personally like gambit cable beast and wolverine (cuz I like dofp the wolverine and Logan ) and a couple more then cyclops cuz I didn’t really know much about him til like a couple years ago
Loved this video. Cyclops is my all-time favorite X-Men character and usually doesn't get his time to shine. Most people gravitate towards Wolverine because of his prominence in the cartoons and Fox movies. I hope Cyclops gets done properly in the MCU.
Forgot to mention this is every bit as incredibly good as your coverage of the Green Lantern Corps. My friend said you break these down in a way that I’m sure Stan the man Lee would be proud of. I got to say you’re simply the best Nuff Said!
Love Cyclops he is my favourite member of the X-men for his powers, his feuds with Mr Sinister and Apocalypse on his wife and son and his personality being a no nonsense field leader who cares about getting the mission done over being your friend. Hated what AvX and all that Bendis did to him, hope Hickman can revive him to his former glory.
Cyclops has been around since 1963 and doesn't look a day for 40. SPF 100, long sleeve shirts and wearing shades every day and night, come rain, sleet, snow or mutant apocalypse is the way to live.
So far the scene when he takes sabretooth and tells Reed Richards to give a message to his son is the most badass aside from Magneto's "Now you have New gods".
@@INFERNO95 Since Clermont, the only way that Cyclops actually works without being a sort of captain America with a weird other dimension power is to turn him into the oposite of wolverine. This run tries to make him relevant in another way as a rightful badass and i think its working so far IMO
I have to disagree with you on the comics industry bust of the mid 90's. It wasn't caused by the fans over buying. Marvel and DC got into all the limited editions, multiple covers for special issues. Gold foil, silver foil editions... Everything became an "instant" collectable. The fans simply got tired of it. I know, I was one of them.
Finally someone said it, it Irked me that he said the collapse was because of comic book fan when it was the speculation market and the people who wanted their comic book issue to be the next action comic # 1
@@BlackLotus30 -- right. As people who grew up in the 60s and 70s got older and regretted not saving that Fantastic Four #1 or whatever-- and also as middle-aged men with money-- they loved the idea of getting some cool #1 issue of some dumb comic, or some gimmicky issue with the foil cover, or bagged, or whatever, and imagine that it would soon be worth thousands. I am going through my collection now and can see that I spent a LOT of money just on X-Force #1 and Spider-Man #1. Why? I don't know. But at some point-- even with cool art (like Todd McFarlane's) or somehow thought-to-be-cool-but-not art (like Rob Liefeld's), the stories were so dumb that it all became uninteresting. I quit collecting in the early 90's and even now all I buy are just old Silver-, Bronze- and Iron-Age comics.

Hey Rob, love your vids and channel it's pretty awesome. If you start doing more of the character explained series, would you consider doing a video on Loki? I personally would love that you 😅😅
Yooo! Rob! Thanks for this video man. I’d lost track of the X-Men shortly after the whole, time-displaced original 5 thing started, and I’ve recently been interested in getting back into things. I was aware that Scott died at some point, but saw him back and have been wondering how and why, and this video pulled it all together quite nicely. So thanks a bunch, man! I also miss your character explained videos. I think pulling those together periodically would be great! Not too often where they become too mundane, but like, this was a pleasant surprise bro. Love what you do man, looking forward to what you’ve got in store next!
Officially requesting Emma Frost explained and Mystique explained! These are two of my favorite characters, but i never know what comics feature them most heavily so i never quite know which ones to read. Thanks Rob, youre awesome man!!!! 😊
I love Cyclops, and I'm one of the fans who actually really loved Marvel NOW's Cyclops and his "Cyclops Was Right" ways. He had a point about SHIELD and the Avengers never really looking out for mutants except when it benefitted their interests. He was taking drastic measures to do what he thought was best for his people and I liked the team he had (Emma, Magik, etc.) to get the mission done.
And yet nothing changed for Mutants. Despite "being right", despite "learning from Xavier and Magneto" nothing changed. That whole era with him with Emma was THE worst, I also saw him no different from Wolverine at that point.
@@BlackLotus30 really? I respect your opinion, I really wanted to like him the series cause his concept was cool but I always thought he felt they made him so flat unless they threw him in an emotional climatic situation. Even his voice seemed kinda monotone didn't it?

This is a result from a quick Google search but there are plenty videos on youtube and books, lectures, seminars or speeches I could direct you to, brother:
What percentage of Africans get skin cancer?
Image result for skin cancer in africa
Black people are far less likely to develop melanoma than non-Hispanic White people (at a rate of 1 per 100,000 compared to 30 per 100,000) due to the protection that melanin, the body's natural skin pigment, provides from damaging ultraviolet rays.Jul 21, 2022
Another thing is, we know him being depicted as white was for the narcissism and fragility of white society (we would need to assess and discuss matters of psychology and psychiatry for me to elaborate upon this), so in essence he represents a black person.
You kind of missed going over his powers and how he uses them. I feel that is kind of the meat of an explained series.
So if yellow is the bane of the green lantern Corp and Kryptonite to Superman I guess commercials every 4 minutes is the bane to ROB CORP. I love ya man but damn

Ty for finally doing a character explanation. On my favorite X men/Leadersin marvel. Cyclops is one of the most underrated characters in marvel!
I know it may be more work for you but I definitely personally enjoy the longer videos because it gives me something really fun to listen to while I'm working keep up the good work man and thank you for everything you do
Cyclops' powers are never mentioned once in this video lol. I wanted to hear about the punches from the punch dimension!
I thought Powers come from another dimension but they also can be controlled properly because of his brain damage
This was a horrible review where all he does is talk about Cyclops friends, and ect
I always despised how Wolverine meddled in Jean and Cyclops relationship, and him being super old and Jean so young.
Say what you want but it garnered him a heck of a lot more attention than he got before then and actually made him interesting in the tv series
Say what you want but it garnered Cyclops a heck of a lot more attention than he got before then and actually made him interesting in the show
Say what you want.
They still split over ideologies tho. That was the how premise of schism. And an awesome throw down between the two

@@rion.cortez2302totally agree
I'm a huge fan of cyclops since a ps1 fighting game back in the days. I love cyclops he is the reason why I like marvel
This is one of my favorite vids by you. Your knowledge of the Publication History and how that has affected the characters over the years is probably your greatest strength.
Cyclops was Right
Yet nothing has changed.
Is*
Cyclops has been my favorite x-men character since I was 6 when I saw the first movie and when I read my first x-men comic. He is a great example of a leader.
Hey bud. The fans would probably like to know about X-force final execution. One of my favorite that others say wow when I lend my copy.
You should start a series on the wierdest comic charecters that made atleast 2 occurences in comics and are never shown again, Like X-men's Maggot.
Thanks Rob for the Cyclops love!
This was amazing. Keep up the good work. Cyclops is amazing, a necessary and unique character :P
Cyclops after House of M till AvX was the man. He was an adult making adult decisions, not a bad guy.
(And yeah).. Is one of my favorite parts of all his videos....
Mines too

Cyclops has been around since 1963 and doesn't look a day for 40.
SPF 100, long sleeve shirts and wearing shades every day and night, come rain, sleet, snow or mutant apocalypse is the way to live.
Magneto is also super ripped for being a senior citizen that grew up in ww2

Finally a Cyclops video!
Right? About time.

@@INFERNO95 Since Clermont, the only way that Cyclops actually works without being a sort of captain America with a weird other dimension power is to turn him into the oposite of wolverine. This run tries to make him relevant in another way as a rightful badass and i think its working so far IMO
Good video. Thanks for the Cyke focus. I did see quite a few factual errors. We all need editors. 👍🏾
Cyclops always deserved a secondary mutation
My favorite MvC2 EVO moment.
@@Lank55 To be fair the foil covers especially the holo foil covers were cool, I still have my gold foil lettering of Cable # 1 somewhere. I didn't buy them because I thought they would get me money down the line, I just bought then because I found them cool. :)
Great video man. I absolutely love your character explanations, it's what drew me to your channel in 2014. I love the old format of the calm intellectual voice and speaking slowly. I would love to see that again.
Cyclops is the best! Thanks for clearing up some of his history! (But why is it never stated that being bonded with Apocalypse, the most tyrannical mutant of all time, maybe contributed to his more "jerky" decisions? )
Hey Rob, love your vids and channel it's pretty awesome. If you start doing more of the character explained series, would you consider doing a video on Loki? I personally would love that you 😅😅
The GREATEST X-Man in X-istence !
This was very interesting. Thanks Rob
Love cyclops he is probably my fav x-men I hope they treat him right in the MCU
Yooo!
Can you make a video explaining the cyclops vs storm comic? And the whole debacle with how that was retconned

Amazing as always, do a ghost rider explained video
Finally Cyclops is getting some love.
Yes!!!!
More X-Men.
Cyclops has gotten trashed for the last fifteen years.
You didn't mention is secondary power of always being right
Love him or hate him he's the face of The X-Men. He's the 1st one. He's the leader.
Cyclops is way more interesting than most give him credit for lol

@@Peecamarke true that's wat got me into comics was that show and saw how the show was far off the comics when it came to him and few others lol

I always liked Havok better than Cyclops. Alex's powers & abilities are more impressive with more uses than Scott. I wish that they do more to bring him out to prominence more.
Didn't Havoc lead the Uncanny Avengers team for a bit after AvX? I didn't read it, and it didn't seem to last that long, but I'm guessing Alex got some shine there.
