- Lets take a look at one of Oldham's doppelganger skateparks. I didn't plan to come here but here we are.

Great video as always, the floor crust reminded me of Okehampton last Monday. Great Half cab on the bank 👌🏻
The ground was horrible, it just took all your speed. I'm shocked I didn't get stopped by the divots to be fair some of them were that bad.
It’s interesting that you have a bunch of parks that are almost the same. We have that here in the us with those modular parks that have the same elements on a patch of flat ground.
The worse thing is how close together they all are. It would have been better to have just made one good park rather than these 4 poor ones. It would have probably worked out cheaper for them as well.
Shame i wasn't there this morning. I would have had a skate with you. All the problems here, tho yeah, spot on loads of problems hopefully we get more than a smooth over 37k is the figure i seen online for shaw
If them figures are right then it should defo be more than that. It don't cost 37k just to smooth that kind of area over.
Also I didn't skate it today it was Tuesday I was there. I know I call it skatepark Saturdays but normally I skate in the week and just post the video on Saturday. If they do the park up though I'll defo come up and have a session with you. As it is though I'm not going back to that park like that.

What years were these all built. Were they early skateparks? We went from every park in the 80s being torn down to new parks popping up everywhere starting about 2005.
We only have one park in our area. The next 2 parks are 90 minutes drives north or south. There are 2 more parks being planned. One in town and one 40 minutes away. I will probably have moved out of town by the time they are built.
Anyway, we are lucky to have what we have.

I'm not fully sure when they were built but I know they were around when I was at school so it will be late 90's to early 2000's. I would say they have been around for about 25 years give or take. Shaw is by far the worse of them due to the ground and poor layout (even though the layout is pretty much the same as the others). They are just very basic and dated. They could keep what they have and just add to them to save money, but it would be good if they were different in same way to make people travel to each of them rather than they being the same.
I would much rather have one good park then all these poor ones. The only really good thing about these parks are the hips they have the rest of the park is poor, but got to look at the positives.
Its frustrating, the 3 parks closest to me are in dire need of updating. It does feel like most of them built 10 or so years ago were intended for bmx and scooters with huge ramps and high rails. And theres less need for smooth ground for them too. Hooefully the refurb is more than just a resurface like you say, and they do consukt local skaters to see what is actually jeeded rather than them just making decisions and saying they have provided something 😅
I have been trying to contact the council about skateparks for about 2 year now. The old councillor replied to all my email but the new one now just doesn't want to know. I got 1 replay from 5 emails. My next step is to contact skateboarding GB and see if they will email them and help out.
Sucks that’s they’ve just gone full cookie cutter with all these parks in one area. Hopefully the re surface will help but I doubt it. Usually they make a mess of doing these kind of things and make the parks worse. You right though if you’ve got funds why not put it towards something decent. I’m sure a simple concrete base, a couple of ledges and flatbar wouldn’t set them back a fortune.
Yeah just a few different size ledges and rails with nothing else would be better than this and like you say it wouldn't cast the earth for that. 3 ledges of different sizes and 2 rails. If they had the extra funds as well stick a flatbank on one side and a quarter on the other, job done. that wouldn't even take any planning to make and it would still be better than what is there and most importantly different from the others.

Such a shame. I live 2 mins from there and wouldn't even attempt to skate there. Shame on oldham council
It's getting a refurbishment soon so in like 3/4 month it will be better hopefully I skate here cos it's next to where I live
I don't blame you. I won't be going bk there. Its a shambles of a skatepark.
